As an introvert I've gotta say, those moments were the most terrifying and the most gratifying moments of school. It's like the teacher knew who was going to have the correct answer. And it wasn't any of the attention seekers.
Also, as in introvert, I gotta say those teachers have been instrumental to getting me to open up more.

Imagine how much the teaching quality would go up if the world was like this.
And the schools drafting teachers in order based on their test scores would really level out the quality of teachers that are in what schools. Right now, we mostly have higher quality teachers teaching at higher income areas at nicer suburban school with inner city schools getting stuck with less motivated teachers and lower budgets overall.

@Stay Positive yup, not just basketball, It's called tanking. But teams would usually call it a rebuild. Some teams intentionality trade away current players to acquire future draft picks or younger players with potential. That would negatively affect your performance, lower standings and higher draft pick.
It's generally frowned upon, no fans like to see their teams lose, and your game attendance would take a hit. Leagues are putting in measures to prevent this, like NBA changing the draft lottery chances.
That’s not how the schools would tank though, they’d trade away old teachers for janitors or something and tank to get first picks

This skit just answered all my questions!!! I've always wondered why humans were so fascinated and gave so much importance to entertainers, singers etc. that they would cry just by meeting them. While I've never seen that amount of passion for other professions like docs and teachers or scientists who've actually changed your lives or saved them. THIS IS WHAT IT"D LOOK LIKE IN AN ALTERNATE REALITY WHERE PROFESSION WAS RESPECTED FOR ITS CONTRIBUTION TO HUMANITY...

@@aadarshmoses1767 Skyline HS was loaded at the librarian and lunch lady positions. They gave up very little for a proven French teacher with veteran leadership and experience against international competition.
Headed to my teaching job during Teacher Appreciation Week, where I think they might be treating us to bagels and coffee. If I’m lucky, there’ll be whipped cream cheese and maybe a strawberry or two.

Bang-average athletes aren’t “acknowledged and appreciated” like this. Only the best make it, after rigorous training and multiple tryouts. Only a tiny fraction of current teachers could make the cut if it was a system like this.

Athletes make a lot of money compared to teachers and if teachers were paid how much Athletes were, more people would strive to be smart and educate more. I am a career teacher and huge sports fan. Once at university I took an elective course with mostly varsity athletes. We had to do a mock press conference, and they were all teasing me about leaving school early for the "teacher draft" and getting traded for a Spanish teacher and stuff like that. Of course, I got to use the standard phrases like "gotta do what's best for my family" and "glad the organisation believed in me" and all that. One of my favourite memories after all these years.

Because math is one of if not the most crucial subject to learn, it’s like drafting a QB or Pitcher or like the NBA in the 50s drafting a center
@@Ruben-wm7hx a huge chunk of the stuff that is taught in maths is utterly useless to anyone that isnt going for a maths degree. Biology is useful for every proffession related to anything that is alive. That is a huge number of fields, from brain surgeons, to fishermen, to lumber workers, to farmers and anyone involved in any sport. Biological knowledge is useful for a terrifying number of things. Mathematical knowledge is useful for 1. Sure some bits of it can be used in engineering, physics and chemistry, but not much of it. Getting an extra biology teacher is way better than a maths teacher.
@@sethbennett617 So much ignorance in saying math can only be used for one subject, literally math is extremely useful in a lot of the jobs you just stated and more like being a CEO being a Treasurer being a stock broker being a mechanic being a manager for any business anywhere and having to balance the tills, biology you said deals with any job that has to do with living things but math is really used for any job ever, if you study math in university you will really have no problem doing your own taxes you could learn the best outcomes and probabilities of any gamble like fantasy football or Vegas you can understand the best ratios and deals when shopping in a store, my math teacher who graduated with a masters degree from Corpus Christi A&M is literally living in a 2 story house with a huge backyard and porch with a Harley Davidson and Range Rover and he told us this multiple time because he wanted the students to know that even on a teachers salary everything he learned from university was able to teach him the best stock options to invest in and the best way to spend money whenever he gambles as well as what time in the year is best for retail shopping and etc etc etc, math will always be useful for eternity
@@Ruben-wm7hx i never said maths wasnt useful. I said a huge chunk of it isnt for a lot of people. What you mentioned is useful. Im not denying that. But is a nurse going to need pythagoras? Is the fisherman trawling for your cod going to need to calculate a parabola? Is the farmer that toils in the field for your flour going to need advanced trigonometry. Yes these parts of mathematics have their places. they are imperative, for advanced mathematics and engineering and parts of the sciences. But they are not useful to the most important members of our society, the jobs that hold everything up. Biology is useful in more of those jobs. Im not saying dont teach maths, im saying it should be an elective sooner. Because it is needed less than is made out to be. A doctor is more important to our society than a mathematician, that is a fact based on the number of human lives saved. The mathematician scoring in at probably less than 1. The doctor coming in at possibly hundreds. The doctor does not use pythagorean theorem to do that, he uses fundamental biology. A biology teacher is more important to society than a maths teacher.

On a real note, I had a history teacher that won some national award. I hated her so much. When she decided to get a better paying job in the big city, her substitute was astounding. That humble substitute made history intriguing and exciting, and it was everybody's favorite class from then on. So kudos to the award winners, but shout-out to the unsung heroes that brought passion to their education.

William Wu's plays are going so underrated this season. He had an entire passing class with 4 A+ students during a pandemic but never gets the recognition he deserves because he had a substitute for 2 weeks smh 😔
Listen, you can't miss 2 weeks of teaching. All the best teachers are there everyday for the students. I heard he wasn't even sick he simply took time off for vacation, if he wants teacher of the year he needs to get priorities right. Simple as that!
Look he did a good job getting his students engaged, he just couldn’t get Joshua off his phone. He will only get better that is for sure, but his game plan wasn’t up to par.

No doubt a generational talent. I think he takes this off-season to get healthy and comes back strong next semester. My only concerns are Principal O'Shaughnessy not using him to his strengths, and key students like Balakay underperforming on spelling tests.
