Thanks for making these. My wife is getting into disc golf, and I realized that the beginner discs I gave my guy friends and tips vs. what I tried with her wasn't working. It's crazy how hard it is to find good tutorials and tips for female disc golfers, and so I am stoked that your whole channel has been great for that.

This is also great advice for older arms that don’t throw like they did when they were in their 20s! Thank You.

Hey good tip on throwing putters to judge ones throw. and yes it's a shark and leopard starter pack. Mines still on the way from Wisconsin usa which is odd as I ordered on Amazon UK.

Totally agree. I think I got lucky when I was buying my first discs. I bought a light DX Valkyrie and a JK Pro Aviar to putt with. I didn't know one disc from another so it was a coin toss. I'm just glad I didn't buy a max weight Destroyer. The Valk served me well for some months until I got more knowledgeable about what to throw as a beginner. I ended up losing the Valk in a tree (don't ever buy dark green plastic) but by then it was as flippy as a paper plate and I was somewhat wiser about what to throw and I had mostly midranges and neutral fairway drivers in my bag. I've had a lot of fun trying out different discs in the years since, but I'm glad I didn't start out with something so far above my skill level that I just got discouraged and quit. The JK Aviar, by the way, is still my favorite disc. I get it out on just about every hole I play. If you can get your hands on one, I highly recommend.

Nice video, about the only thing I disagree with is "discs losing their true flight when they get beat in". I tend to think about it from the other side: that they find their true flight as they beat in properly... sadly that flight can not accurately be represented by numbers as several discs of the same mold can turn out different after a while. Nowadays I only bag one Innova disc (kc pro teebird) but I do toss my old dx roc in there sometimes, or my "old" flightnumber dx beast. Depending on the mold the dx plastic can hold up surprisingly well to wear, that dx beast is somewhat domey and has spiked into a bicycle path well over a hundred times throughout the years and still retain most of its stability (the tarmac trimmed the rim a bit so its not as sharp anymore and the partingline moved up a bit) and flies a lot like a thunderbird now. The dx roc is admittedly understable now but has a gentle and predictable turn making it a great hyzerflip disc for flat landings.

@@christine.kiyomi You're very welcome. I may make it to MVSB tonight for the putting league if we aren't buying a Christmas tree. See ya there if you make it!

I just started disc golf and found that I like star plastic a lot more because my hand cramps start to with alot of the other plastics.

I honestly think, that beginners should use all types of discs.
As a beginner, the skillset is no where near to be able to properly utilise a Leopard for example; My Leopard was driving me NUTS by consistently turning over to anny for me, and for me, in the beginning, it was more fun to play with way more overstable discs because i could yank them over and get somehow of a distance from them.
As the skills improve, and the player gains an understanding of how to throw hyzers, anhyzers, and learning what discs to use the angles on, the player with naturally learn that the destroyer he or she started with, is perhaps better thrown with anhyzer.
And using lots of different discs, preferably overstable ones, taught at least me, to throw the different angles...
I would strongly recommend having a mix of understable, overstable discs, to see how all discs fly different and learn! After all, this sport requires thousands of throws for practice, so diversity is the key.

Be very careful when recommending leopards, the higher quality plastics usually make them significantly more overstable than expected

Yes, as a beginner the leopard is not very stable for me at all. :/

Champion shark, dx sidewinder, any putter
Throw until you can get the shark 300 feet
There I just saved you hundreds of dollars
