Is it possible to run a RAID setup on this computer? Any setup in the BIOS available regarding this?

My company gave me this laptop and I have an issue whereby the fan will sit idle at 0 RPM until the processor gets above 56 degrees and then it will spin up to 2800 RPM suddenly, no gradual ramp up. It will then slowly drop to around 1700 RPM and then suddenly drop back to 0 RPM. Rinse and repeat every minute or two and it is driving me nuts. Did you notice this with your review unit? I'm really hoping that it is a fault and Dell can replace the board.

@Dellah_de, I would be checking the Dell Power Manager app (hopefully your company has kept it installed on the computer) if not try to get to see if the thermal setting is set to "Optimized" mode rather an "Quiet" mode.

@@BsianTech Thanks for replying. I've actually tried all of the available fan curves (you can also set these in the bios). All of them exhibit the same sudden ramp up behavior. If the fans ramped up smoothly I wouldnt have an issue, but it is the sudden immediate ramp up from 0 to 2800RPM that distracts me and makes me immediately aware of it. I assume this wasn't the behavior you experienced?
