  • #119 - DIY How to Pour Your Own Fluid Acrylic Christmas Ornaments 🎄 Using The Bloom Technique
    I was really blown away by the response I got in several of my Facebook acrylic pouring groups when I recently posted photos of some ornaments I had done. Several people asked for a video tutorial to show the process and I am always too happy to oblige if it helps people learn this really fun way to paint ornaments.

    **I got into acrylic pouring after playing around with epoxy resin and wanting to do some art with it. After realizing the amount of time it took to prep and clean up, it wasn’t quite as appealing to me anymore. That’s when I stumbled onto some RUclips videos about acrylic pouring and I WAS HOOKED. This was in 2020, and with COVID running rampant, it was the perfect thing to keep me occupied and staying home, safe and sound. This art form is extremely cathartic and empowering at the same time.
    There’s no greater feeling than pouring paint on to a canvas and watching magic happen before your eyes! I’m so honored to be displaying my work in two local restaurants and a gallery, Art Machine Gallery, here in Houston - so exciting! Thank you so much for coming along on this journey with me!**

    • @BrittClaytonDesign
      @BrittClaytonDesign  Год назад

      Hi Pam! You can, but it won’t make a lot of difference. Mica is dependent on light for its shine - so if it’s mixed with paint, that paint is going to hinder a lot of the light from reflecting off the mica.

      Hi Susan, thank you so much! In answer to your question: because I’m using housepaint for these (the bloom technique), I do one side one day, and the next day I do the other side. The enamel dries really fast so I can get them all done in a weekend.

    When you say 3.5p of the floetrol what does the p stand for? And do you have a link for floetrol? I’ve heard many say they use the Australian and that some of the others are the wrong kind and won’t work…I don’t know what the difference is when looking it up

    • @BrittClaytonDesign
      @BrittClaytonDesign  10 месяцев назад

      Hey Bonnie! The p stands for part. Your basis for measuring is usually the amount of paint you use. So if you use an ounce of paint, that would mark your ONE part. I used 3.5 parts of Aussie Floetrol, which would be 3.5 ounces. You can find Australian Floetrol at www.Fluid-Art.co. Go to their website and look at the photo of it. Then look up Flood Floetrol on Home Depot’s website. You’ll see the difference in the bottles.

    JUST A THOUGHT

    • @BrittClaytonDesign
      @BrittClaytonDesign  10 месяцев назад

      Hey there! There would honestly be no reason to do that, as you want the cell activator to spread across the colors as your blowing them out. If you blew out each color before, the colors collectively would be too thin and you wouldn’t get the same effect.

      Thank you Patty! No, I’ve never painted on the plastic ones. I prefer the weight of the glass ornaments.

      Hi Leaetta! Thanks for stopping by!! I’m so glad you like the colors - me too! These are glass ornaments. I just like the feel of them better. But you can pour on plastic as well.

    • @BrittClaytonDesign

      I’ve never poured inside - you definitely could not get this look by doing so. And I’ve never heard of the paint cracking after time if they’re sealed properly.

      There’s no spinning involved Heather.

    • @BrittClaytonDesign
      @BrittClaytonDesign  Год назад +1

      Gravity works as your spinner. Because of the shape, the paint will run just a bit, so there isn’t too much paint left.
