quick question, why not whip finish around the post once the hackle is tied in? you wouldnt even need to return the hook to its normal orientation...hackle, whip, clip

Used this pattern last fall in the Sun Valley Idaho area. Caught a few adults and have them in alcohol. Simple pattern to tie and fun to fish. Thanks.

On the Au Sable, only the spinner resembles that color. The duns are a grey\olive color.
