Hey there, it's been a while since you've posted, but I just wanted to let you know, your videos helped me tremendously with guitar, and writing my own songs. You did/do a great job of breaking music theory and songs into their simple parts. For me, music theory, and learning songs by ear always seemed like such a tremendously complicated thing to do, but really, with a little practice, it's not too bad for the vast majority of pop songs, and you do a great job of pointing that out. Keep it up man!
Hey MrKramer, I am glad to hear it's helping! I never really thought that these would offer much help with song writing, but I am glad they do. Awesome that you're getting the hang of learning stuff on your own. The more you do it, the faster and more fun it becomes! ...which I guess is true of most things haha
Let's Learn with Dave well, to me learning a little more music theory helped me in terms of songwriting when I firstly realized you've only really got 7 chords to work with most of the time, and a few of those are barely used, so it's not like you have to choose from unlimited possibilities. Also, for example, once I realized that if a song's in "G," any note in the G chord will sound good over it, that opened another door for me. It doesn't take long to get from there to something more like this: soundcloud.com/benkramer-1/id-never-say it's not very complicated musically, but you start to sound like you know what you're doing very quickly when you have some "tricks" to go to like that, and don't have to reinvent the wheel every time. Anyway, your videos inspired me to look slightly more into that, so thanks!
***** holy smokes, that's actually an awesome tune! Next week: "Let's Learn: I'd Never Say - XMrKramerX". Seriously though, I would legit listen to this. Gonna check out your other tunes on there, post breakfast. What's your 2nd instrument in there? It sounds sort of like a banjo, but like a really mellowed out banjo.
Wow, thanks a lot haha Yeah, the second instrument is a banjo, with emphasis on melody notes. When I was recording, I got a banjo halfway through, so for the most part, I just use guitars here, but in the future that'll be on most of my songs.
Hey Dave, fantastic as always, so helpful! Thanks for "coming out of retirement" so to speak. And I appreciate you accepting my recommendation, thanks again man. Keep it up!
If I can suggest a song, anything by Will Varley, but specifically 'Until the Grass Gets Greener', 'As the Crow Flies' or (these two, mainly>>>) 'I Think of You Sometimes' or 'She's Been Drinking'. I think you'd dig him. It's a little trickier for me to hear as it's played on a nylon. Which shouldn't make that much difference, but my ear is so used to steel :')
3.29 made me chuckle, thanks for the videos you keep doing, they're all sorts of awesome!

Amazing!!
i was wondering if you could make a lets learn of 'til kingdom come by Coldplay
Can you do "Little Black Submarines" by Black Keys
You should do some fleetwood mac like Big Love! I'm having troubles. lol
So my presumption that it’s in an open D tuning was wrong...?
I've never tried playing it in open D, but you probably could do it
Let's Learn with Dave I only brought it up because 90% of their songs are. I’ll have a play around with it and see
Dripping wet...
oh my..
