Rachel. When baking cakes use baking strips. It keeps the edges from baking too fast. Trust me they work wonders.

Tip for smoothing out icing on the outside: when you've smoothed out the outside to the best of your ability, use your palette knife or whatever you're using and dip into hot water, wipe off the water until dry and smooth out your icing :)

CAKE RECIPE
Wet ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 egg
4 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
cream well
Dry ingredients:
1 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3 tbsp cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup coffee or water
bake at 350 for ~40 mins
he tripled in that recipe

@@slimouo4412 I mean only they can answer that really. but that's the one I got from the description box of the other video and Chris refers to it as the family chocolate cake recipe (his mum got it from her mum or something). I did make it actually, it was nice but waaaaay better the next day after being in the fridge overnight.

I really appreciate how Rachel always shows herself washing her hands after touching the eggs. It's such a big pet peeve of mine when people just don't wash their hands so it really calms me down when she assures us that she does :)

I’m happy cause I understood Chris’s shirt perfectly cause I’m from Argentina, love your videos Rach!
Rach! ALWAYS and I do mean ALWAYS substitute the oil in a cake/muffin/cupcake/bread recipe with the same measurement of applesauce (1/4 cup oil sub for 1/4 cup applesauce). I didn't believe it until I tried it but now I sub it every time a cake/muffin/cupcake/ bread recipe calls for oil. It makes for a much nicer texture and the cake will not go dry and the apple flavor is nonexistent (not to mention you get to eliminate unhealthy processed oil). My great grandma's chocolate cake recipe uses this substitution and her cake is unlike any other cake I've ever had, it's a very special family recipe and it's called 3 puddle cake. If you're wondering, it's called 3 puddle cake because when you pull it out of the oven it will sink in the middle just a little bit and once the icing is drizzled on, it appears to create 2 or 3 tiny "puddles" as it settles into the dips 😊 Hope you try this technique if you haven't already. Love you girl!
7 minute frosting is absolutely the best frosting! Like eating a cloud of marshmallow! Takes a little time but totally worth it 😀

This is my go to choccy cake for the past year. It's so good and so easy to make with no creaming of butter which is annoying when the butter is too cold. This is the best recipe!

I'm so late to this video, but if you were curious for more ideas on what to top a chocolate cake with, I actually like butter on my chocolate cakes. You have to put it on while the cake is still warm, and only about half the thickness you would icing/frosting, but it melts slightly into the top of the cake and provides a wonderfully rich contrast to the sweetness of the cake. Delicious!

Thought I should share this recipe with you. It’s my sisters and It is so rich and yummy!!
1 package of devils food cake, 4 oz Jello instant chocolate pudding, 8 oz of sour cream, 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup oil, 4 eggs Directions: Blend ingredients for 10 minutes. Add 8 oz of mini chocolate chips. Grease bundt pan with butter. Bake cake for 55 minutes @ 350 degrees. Ganache to drizzle on top: 1 cup of chocolate chips 1/4 cup butter

My favourite cake recipe is from tasty. The ultimate chocolate cake. I’ve made it over and over with the cream cheese frosting and I’ve always had compliments for it.
Peanut butter with chocolate cake is amazing (I know nut allergy for you) also just simple vanilla almond is good.
