Excellent video as always Sam! I can’t wait to see how this fall unfolds. It seems to already be heading in the right direction. Great video and super informative 👌
Thanks for another great video. Yours are just the most informative and well put together. I fished twice this week at night, seaside park and manasquan inlet. Absolutely no luck on artificials and more dogfish than I could count on bunker chunks…. Hopefully better luck tomorrow I’m gonna give it a shot again
Thanks, I appreciate that! Hopefully your luck changes, it's tough out there but its due to pick up soon so keep trying. Bunker chunks this time of year will definitely land tons of dogfish, but sometimes they're fun to at least get a line tight!
For those of us that got a drive to get to the beach, do you recommend just keepin tabs on local reports to know when to make a drive? Whenever I do a trip and I dont see signs of fish, my go to is to fish "common" spots. Like during spring, went to OCNJ inlet and casted around. Got into some schoolies stacked up a lil from the rocks. There were no signs, but they were chillin in a typical area. Besides the lures you mentioned, i love a stingsilver/dimond jigs to cut through any wind. I wish the ebikes held up to surf fishing because that would be next level.
To be honest, that’s kind of how I do it! Common spots you know have worked or should work are sometimes the best way to try and find fish. And to be clear too there’s a lot of times during the fall where just nothing happens (to be honest the worst part about making the drive). Reports definitely help, I think they’re more important for the what’s working and when than the where, so it’s always good to keep tabs on them. I think that’s where the log helps too. Looking at past logs and figuring out when to go based on that too. Hope that answers your question! I agree I see people online using e-bikes down south on the beach but those beaches are flatter in general. I think an e-bike on the sand in nj would be very difficult. But for getting from entryway to entryway on the street it seems like a great method!
@@SaltySamFishingI keep reading the same thing, I always thought you wanted bright at night or in murky water and dark in clear water in daylight. Apparently I was way wrong 😂
@@JonM435 It's tricky I don't blame you. Sometimes things seem totally counterintuitive, but apparently as I understand it, the black lures show a better silhouette in the water and get the fish to bite. That's not to say that white or bright colors won't work because they still can at night. It's all about trying out different methods to see what works for you!
@@SaltySamFishing I always appreciate your feedback. I’m actually going to hit Manasquan inlet or surf tonight and see what happens despite the 32 degree low temp…. I have a blurple teaser and sP minnow with me and some bunker to try bait as well. I may try the fish and chips route if I get stuck with dogfish again. Surf City Bait and tackle is claiming top water is the way to go to avoid the dogfish below (just learned something new lol)
Thanks! I’ve got a tsunami trophy 2 9’0” medium heavy rated 1-4oz, then a penn battle 3 dx 5000. Honestly if you go with the rod and swap the reel for a Penn Pursuit 5000 reel that’s a pretty decent set up that should be around $150.
Looks like our resident fish have shown up in your neck of the woods. We had a great fall run, but alas, they have moved on. Curious, are you not allowed to use bait? I'd be live lining those bunker or even running some cut baits.
Glad your run was good, that’s good to hear! Bait is allowed, people generally plug more during the fall here and then use bait more often in the spring. Our snagging laws have changed too. There’s certain ways to legally snag bunker and use for bait. On a day like this where they’re so locked in on the bait, honestly a snagging method would have worked better but, unfortunately I didn’t have anything on me to tie up a rig for that. Next time!
Good advice, what about fishing in the middle of the afternoon under a bright sun? someone told me in the Fall, it doesn't matter when you go fishing. because Bass are on the move (migration). So you should just fish when you can. Even in the afternoon on a bright sunny day? is that true?
It definitely can be true! Early morning and late afternoon are the usual times fish will feed more heavily, but during the fall, if you’re on a blitz, time of day can kind of go out the window.
It’s Princeton Tech! But to be completely honest with you, it’s not very bright. I think it was $20. I’m definitely in the market for a new headlamp lol.
I’d highly recommend a Fenix. I’m presently using a HM61R V2.0, around $90, but they have cheaper and more expensive models. As a wildlife biologist, Fenix headlamps and hand-helds have served me well.
The Fall Run is starting to kick off! Let me know your favorite bunker and sand eel imitation lures in the comments. Thanks for stopping by!
Good video. Like how you tell it true. Sometimes everything is right and they just don't want to play.
Thanks, yep that’s the reality of fishing! Well put.
The production quality just keeps getting better and better. Well done bro
Thank you, man!
Fished the sunset at Belmar last Saturday with no luck. Gonna try again this weekend
Stripere arent hard to catch...but theyre hard to find
I walked Asbury two weeks ago and hit one sp minnow (bone)
Hope you get on em this weekend 💪!
@@truhbf I hit the dog beach jetty for a couple sunrises and nothing. one guy caught a dogfish
Waters too warm
Sam your content is excellent. Clearly you put in a ton of time fishing, filming and editing. The only problem is Penn State😅
Hahaha thanks! Penn state is a hill I’ll die on!
Great editing and videos. Personally do not like teasers. Tight lines 🤙🏾
Thanks! I get that. Sometimes it can hinder casting distance.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed.

Thanks man! Same here, I hope it’s a great one, we just need to hope the bass start falling for some lures 😂 but they’re there!
Cool video man keep them coming
Thank you, will do!

A really great video!!

Great video, Sam. Just found you and subbed.
Thank you, welcome!
Caught my first of the fall today. Hooked up on 3 but only landed 1. SP Minnow at a beach in NJ(nowhere near the crowds)
let me correct that. today was beautiful so there were a bunch of people fishing . saw a blue fin tuna too.
Nice! Hopefully the first of many more this fall!

Fishing tog in Barnegat Inlet today, love the video.
Good luck! Great time of year to be catching tog so hopefully you land some good ones.
Man I was out there casting and following those birds too. But didn't get anything. Love your animations in the vids too.
Thanks Lou! Yeah man, it was such a struggle, but a good sign that the fish are here!
Never landed a Bass on a dark SP Minnow however, a black teaser works great! Another A+ video!
True! Black teasers are great for fishing in the dark. I definitley have to grab some to have on hand. Thanks for watching!
I keep reading people having luck with a black teaser and “blurple” sp minnow…. I keep trying different options (none have worked 😂)

Was on the belmar princess last week and everyone was catching big strippers left and right
Yeah boats have been on them pretty good!
Sam, if you don't mind what brand headlamp are you wearing with the red light

I have a 11 foot rod and 6k reel. What is the best line that I can use.
30 lb braid should be good for what you’ve got!
Penn State should have won! Pity!
It was such a painful game to watch 😂
