Awesome trailer wow 12 on centre that will be a fortess. Very very cool. Can't wait for plant tour awesome. You did well. You don't know it but 8.5 ceiling is a game changer. Awesome awesome. 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦🛠️
I was considering a trailer and noticed most were in Georgia. I don't remember the name of the company online but they have options for taller, wired and panels. I'm glad you got a 8.5 tall one.
The best upgrade you can make when ordering that type of trailer is heavy duty torsion axles with 8 lug wheels. Good choice, 7! You won't regret that decision.
Congratulations Seven on your new trailer! I look forward to your build. Currently I am in San Felipe, Baja California, Mx but will be heading to Imperial Dam in mid March. Great job on the hookup. I hook up my trailer just fine but backing up is not at all my forte so far, LOL. Hope to see you out west again and let me know if you need any sewing/alteration. Stay safe my friend.
plan to use the ramp as a patio deck and enclose the back of the trailer with a glass wall. plan on building out the flatbed as an auxiliary overland bug out vehicle and kayak rack etc
Congratulations on your purchase of the new trailer. My brain is buzzing with ideas about what I would do. I am so curious to see you your build goes. Can't wait for the next episode!
Tell us about your first fillup and MPG after picking that up. My smaller cargo trailer is "only" 3K pounds tare, and cuts my MPG to about half my normal 22 MPG on a Grand Caravan.
@@SevenWanderstheWorld That's better than me, only 26% drop in mileage per gal. How does that compare to the step van, since it has less rubber friction on the road, aka few tires and axles? They are similar in sq ft inside?
Seven, I bought a very similar trailer (also custom built) from the same manufacturer. I think I may be able to save you some aggravation that I've gone through converting mine. Let me know if you like to talk, I'm in Florida Panhandle. There is a reason that you have floor trim on your trailer, it's because of plywood doesn't go all the way to the walls. I too, went for the 12 on Center in the roof, it makes putting 14 in skylights very difficult.
Looking forward to watching your build out. I’m just finishing up a similar project I started last June. One suggestion. Take off the interior plywood, build u-shaped members with the plywood and 4/4x4/4 (assuming 1” metal framing) lumber and screw onto your frame members. You end up with the equivalent of 2x4 studs, which makes the interior build simple. Similar for the ceiling but since there is a curved roof you end up with 6” beams at Centre and a flat ceiling. The ceiling beams rest on the wall studs. I then put a red cedar walkway on the roof. The beefed up construction will easily support walking on the roof, which you cannot normally do with a cargo trailer. Roof ladder racks allow solar panels on both sides of the walkway. Finally, blown foam insulation between studs and beams results in a great r-factor. I also added a raised floor, then put insulation under the original floor with Coro-plast sheets as a floor pan. Under the raised floor are water tanks, which are inside the insulation envelope. Be glad to share photos if you are interested. Will be living and traveling full time in my bunker on wheels.
I'm not a big fan of trailor conversions because the tend not to be structurally sound, but this looks fabulous. I am curious if you considered a fifth wheel though for stabler hauling? I'm curious too why have the walls in if no insulation or wiring has been put in already? Really looking forward to following your conversion. When you set up for a couple of weeks at a national park or when you have to do work at a rental or simply visiting friends and family, you'll living in luxury for sure. I totally get how putting the kind of miles you were doing driving the step van got old. That's for the youngsters, lol; or people that need to stay in an urban setting and street park, etc.
The walls they're not insulate so that's means you have to take the wood out and put it back in... they should have put the insulation before they put the walls👀🤗🙄🤔 well as long as you happy it will be no problem🚚🇺🇸 I feel so happy for you wow and that's very nice I can wait to see how you going to fix it😍😍🚚🇺🇸
I'm looking at a Rock Solid 7' x 14' x 7'6" - 16" on center to convert this spring/summer. Up here, in Maine, it will cost me about $6300. What does that big boy cost?
Btw, it's smart to have four wheels to counterbalance sway. I recommend boning up on trailer pulling dynamics is you haven't already. Lots of stuff to know about weight distribution/sway.
Can't believe you didn't get a gooseneck trailer but you must have your reasons. Looks like a great trailer anyway. Well done Seven & after seeing so many builds in your travels I'm sure this one is going to be perfect & reflect the skills you've acquired with the Step Van build. It puzzles me with the rear ramp setup but we can only wait & see what you have in store. Much more content to come I'm sure. Billy J..... Queensland, Australia.
Glad you got the truck you did. That trailer is a BEAST! I think Bill and Deb from "I Ride" Tiny House Adventures just bought their second Rock Solid to build out. If you are of a mind to, join the FB group Cargo Trailer Conversions. Lots of good info and supportive conversation for us CargoTrailer Conversion folks.
I'm a member of the FB group and that's actually where I first received a recommendation to go with RockSolid and Renown trailers. it is a great group and I look forward to being more involved as I build
I’d like to convert a school bus but I understand folks have a problem getting insurance for a litany of reasons. Any skoolie folks experience this problem and, if so, what insurance company did you go with? Thank you. On edit: congratulations on your new trailer. I’m looking forward to your build-out.👍🏻
I've been thinking through what a tiny mobile home might look like. Still putting together my requirements. I'd love to have only one source of fossil fuel. So heat and electricity would primarily be solar but I'd consider adding a diesel generator in the event that solar couldn't keep up w/demand.
Wow that’s a long trailer! That will be nice to build in with plenty of space. Make sure you buy a spare tire and wheel Seven. Usually the tires that come on trailers are cheap or barely used.
I tried to work with Weeroll and had one brief conversation with the owner. after multiple calls, emails and texts I could never get quotes from them. they were absolutely terrible for communication and replies
I debated 5th wheel and gooseneck options for months, but have big plans for the back of the truck and the bumper pull on dually is a better option for my plans

Congratulations Seven on your new trailer. As someone who has lost two family members to covid, I can't believe that after 1 year of the pandemic people still refuse to wear a mask and potentially expose other people to covid-19. It's sad that more people will have to unnecessarily experience the loss that too many families have already experienced.
The trailer is awesome. The salesman is over the top. Husband and I would have walked away. We never give a dime to sales people who behave this way. Why reward such obnoxious behavior?
That owner is such a genuinely nice guy! He seems so gracious

yay!
Welcome to the cub Seven....I'll be following your build-out!
Looking forward to watching this project take shape...looks llike you are off to a great start.
Just a couple of questions. Why not barn doors or a man door on the end and why not fifth wheel /goose neck since you have a flat bed.

thanks. hope to see you sometime in march if you are in Arizona
What did the trailer end up weighing ?
Can’t wait to see what you build.
Looking forward to the build result.
why did you not get the Vnose?
😲 WOW! Plenty of height and space to build out a tiny home, awesome. Looking forward to following along on the build. 💖☮☸
