Fantastic help! You really have a supportive community and I believe it's because you are so kind. Showing each step is cool because a lot of watchers seem to be building out their own so can learn from you and your expert friends. I think that's yet another way of paying it forward. It's also super cool of you to take the insurance money to HOWA when it finally wanders in. I know they will be thrilled to get it whether it's July or september. Folks are always in need, as you learned the hard way. Just think, when you lay your head on the pillow in your completed trailer, of all the steps you've taken to get there. It won't take as long as the step van, I'm sure but all you've learned will be part of the completed project. I hope you find a reliable truck that makes you feel safe, confident and happy. Every time you put the key into the ignition, you will remember all the amazing folks who donated, suggested, helped and cared about this awful situation. Best wishes.

"...we won't talk about how out-of-square the trailer is." gaps in the floor, gaps in side-panels. Thanks for showing us how bad they made your custom cargo trailer.

I was hoping to get alternative ideas for floor insulation here. Having 2 subfloors increases the weight too much for our build. We aim to reduce weight for better gas mileage (with the price of gas!), and also distribute the weight evenly in our build. That means batteries on one side, water tank on the other, kitchen split into a galley so weight on both sides, etc. I read about a van build that had all the weight of their floor plan on one side and it was worrisome to drive around corners! So much to consider.

Seven, what about the VAPOUR BARRIER? Without it, condensation will build up between the walls causing all sorts of undesirable issues.

for the DC to DC converter - sounds like you need a 24V to 13.8V DC converter. Most auto alternators put out 14.4V or a little more for nominal 12V auto electronics.

Hello and thanks for the interesting info!
You had a video on a truck with active air insulation via *'holes in 2x4 walls' via a fan on top and holes in the back'.* Anyone recall the title of that video? *THX!*

I can’t agree with your endorsement of how well built your trailer is. In your last video you showed the gaps along the bottom where the walls joined the floor. You said that the trailer was originally built as a cargo trailer and you seemed to think that made the gaps acceptable. I disagree. Regardless of what use the trailer is being built for, gaps are not acceptable and certainly aren’t a sign of quality craftsmanship. I doubt that anyone using that brand of trailer to haul cargo would like water and other containment’s getting into the trailer and damaging their cargo plus causing corrosion.
After seeing this video and the extra work you have to do to fill in the gaps with caulk I would never buy that brand of trailer. Also I doubt that applying caulk in the gaps will be a permanent fix. Caulk will not replace missing metal.

I will never buy that brand now that I seen the lack of quality. I am in the process of buying a few cargo trailers.

Funny how many people are jumping over the build quality of this cargo trailer. My friend has had bumper pull, 5th wheel and motor coaches his whole life and you'd be amazed how piss poor they are built. I've helped him on and off repair his campers and NOTHING is square or plumb and depending on who is working wires are ran in any direction and these campers cost $50,000-$275,000. The latest is a motor coach that costs more than my house and it's built so poorly I can't imagine owning it. The gaps and you see on the metal skin will continue to grow and shrink with the heat and cold weather. If you look down the side of a cargo trailer in the early morning it will look totally different if you do the same at 2 in the afternoon in full sun. The simple fact is this is a utility cargo trailer and if you are expecting an engineering wonder than you will be disappointed, but with that said imagine your disappointment if you spent $250,000 on a motor coach to find the same thing.
