    I feel good to hear his updates on your truck. I highly recommend you use more mounting brackets on your solar panels when you're going down the road and you get any gust of wind coming across the top of that trailer it's going to rip those cheap hinges write-off. That same thing happened to another another person that I follow he lost one or two panels because he didn't use enough brackets

    Good job! In regards to your truck, discuss with the shop and consider installing a kill switch so no one can start it up. The Split system is gonna be great! Don't worry about an empty fridge, they have a way of filling up.

    A 24 vot system. More efficient but you'll have to use a lot of more expensive marine or 24 volt rated products. To use your truck as a charge source, you'll need a 24 volt alternator added on. Others have successfully done this but also with 2.4K solar, you may not need to worry about it. Looks great.

      not planning on using truck alternator as a charger (only solar or shore power charging)

    I would suggest putting in a 2nd screw on each panel, it looks like you just put 1 in each bracket. It may save you a headache down the road..

    Many people find ways to minimize their electricity needs to boondock. You, on the other hand, are just creating your own personal power plant. I’m sort of in your camp too. I’ve got 800w for my roof and another 600w for the ground as a buffer if needed. But, I’ll be using propane, charcoal or wood for cooking and I have a 12v fridge/freezer that will hook right to the batteries. I just discovered your channel and will be sure to follow your build. You are ambitious to be building and living in the rig at the same time. I’ve done that in sticks and bricks too many times. My rig will have to be at least 90% complete before I even think about staying in it full time. If you get the heat pump mini split, it should perform well in moderately cool temps shouldn’t it? Say anything above 32F. ? I’m not that well educated on them. I’ll have to catch your video on your install of that.

    While the truck is in the shop have them to put on an secret kill switch so it can not be started when stolen.

    Hello, Seven. You sure are in a beautiful camping area. Happy things are looking up and that you can enjoy some good weather, mild temperatures and get some work done on your home while you wait for your truck to be repaired. I think you're doing a fine job. Also happy to hear the good news about the truck. I was really surprised the thieves took the time to install those old dirty seatbelts along with 2 seats, lol. I wish you continued success with your build. You've learned so much about electrical systems, you could start your own consulting firm. :) It will be nice when you can get back to enjoying your travels as well. :)

    You should check the power usage of the split heat pump (for heat). As long as it's not too cold, it should be pretty efficient. Like use it for chilly mornings and save the diesel heat for when it's really cold.

    Nice to have the roof space for some real power. I am a bit surprised you haven't switched to a DC reefer. They aren't cheap, yet neither is the power draw of a residential. Interesting.

    I was a bit worried when you mentioned 400 watts output from these panels, I thought they were new panels but they are actually used? New diodes refitted into the panels. Not bad! I wonder if the average drop in output power of new panels is due to the diodes agin. I have two doors from my rentals back int he states that I brought over. Yup holes în the doors from various reasons. A wood shop I deal with over here can actually glue another Luan panel on top of the sides with the holes. Not only do they make great shelves but they can double as a drafting desk or work bench.

    • @SevenWanderstheWorld
      @SevenWanderstheWorld  3 года назад

      these are used panels with some small scratches on them. they have new diodes and original specs had them rated for 385 watts each. with the new diodes I'm getting slightly over 400 watts from each and they cost me $100 each!

    2.4 KwH of solar? It's better to have more than enough, than *NOT* enough! It's "future proofing" yourself too!

    _Go straight to Samlex America and order your 24v to 12V; I use the big 60amp 24v to 12v but they also have the smaller amp one. Mine has been in use non-stop for 2+ years now. Tell them I sent you, I don't have any juice, but you never know. : )_

    On your truck parts, you just need to locate the "right" source. The "right" source will have everything you need to purchase all the parts back from them. Them = the ones that stole the parts to start with

    Hi Seven, do yourself a favor mate, when you get your truck back hide a fuel cut off switch or tap somewhere in the cab so NO-ONE can steal it again, hide it so only you know where it is and don't tell or show anyone mate. Seeya Rob

    Are you talking about installing a mini-split A/C when you discuss your heat pump/AC? That's what I would do. Get the highest SEER you can afford. They are much more efficient than the all on/all off systems most heat pumps are in the US. Also, MUCH quieter. The rest of the world uses mini-splits. You didn't use that term, "mini-split," so I wasn't sure what you were intending to install.

    Takes 4:20 to get to anything that has to do with the title. The story is dragged out and respectfully the trailer is a bit of a mess. It’s overkill with all the pots and pans and there’s construction material everywhere. I don’t get what’s happening here but good luck. I wish you the best
