You totally blew my mind, I had no idea the legs were able to pop off like that. My Full Power Goku was a loose mess in his left leg, and thanks to you I was able to pop it off and thicken up the ball joint itself, and now it's so much more sturdy. So thank you for showing us that

I think the metallic hair works better for this form because of the lightning aura. They are supposed to shine
I've been waiting forever for them to make this. My favorite Super Saiyan form of Goku. I'd like to imagine Goku's screaming face is him yelling at Kid Trunks to hurry up and find the Dragon Radar lol.
This is a really good figure, but for me UI Goku is my favorite, especially because avoid the shoulder/butterfly unpainted problem with that floating piece that doesn't look too good.
I prefer the flat colors for the hair, but metallic isn't bad. I do like it here as a way to differentiate the form from the standard super saiyan since super saiyan 2 isn't that different looking on Goku. And it looks nice here and should display well with that aura effect. Also of note, Bandai is putting the convention exclusives on their site on Monday. It might just be whatever is leftover, or could be something more robust, they haven't said, but for those wanting this and the others check on Monday.
My preference on the hair colors for the Super Saiyan Whatever figures is basically the reverse of yours. I love the transparent and metallic hairs. Flat color hair is perfectly fine too as long as it's not the candy corn shading that some of the figures have gotten. Some argue that the translucent/metallic hairs are just a gimmick, but ya know what? It's a gimmick that I really like.
Anyway, really hoping that all of these figures become available on Bluefin or P-Bandai because they are GORGEOUS!
I just hate those shoulders with burning passion. It's the main reason why I'm skipping on most of SHF Goku figures and still waiting for new body.

I really wish I was at the convention right now. This would've been one of the figures I'd pick up for sure. I need Super Saiyan 2 Goku to complete my collection of all his main forms. I hope they do make him available for pre-order on Premium Bandai or other sites.
I think I prefer the platinum blonde look honestly.

Straight up yellow. That bold and bright really popped out way more and I always loved the look of it in the charging aura

It's funny I just realized that we could've gotten a SSJ2 Goku years ago if Bandai just made that front hairpiece and included it in any of the previous Super Saiyan Goku releases. By noooo... they had to make it an event exclusive that would cost 3 to 4x what it would cost if it were a regular release.
well ssj2 has spikier hair throughout than ssj1, it's not just the bangs that are different
woot i just got this figure. my friend went to sdcc san diego and got this for my msrp
he also got himself shenron madara and a picollo..... yea i know he wanted the piccollo
but he choose not to get buu and 16! man i wish he got me buu. he tried to pick it up later but the lines got too insane. oh well im super stoked i got my ssj2 goku for msrp

I really like the way the metallic hair pops with everything else painted matte. Excellent review as always Anthony 💯😽🤟
I prefer the platinum blonde, flowing hair of his original ssj transformation. I don't like the each individual spike lineart and yellowness of his hair later in the series. I feel like the flowy-ness of the original gives more of a feeling that he's flowing with energy. It's more of an ethereal look.
I think SSJB should have gone back to this style. Would’ve been a cool callback and would suit the ‘godly’ transformation it’s supposed to be. Also, it’d make it more distinct from modern SSJ1
For real, hair in the early series and manga used to have movement, as hair would. Modern art styles basically have them wearing spikey hats. It looks stiff and cheap.

I like the platinum and metallic look, it reminds me of the clone Goku they released earlier. I can’t really compare them side by side but that’s what it seems like to me. I feel like my preference changes too much on these, they can make some translucent versions of the super saiyan hair and I flip out and love it.
That aura is insane, I’m bound to hunt down those for multiple characters lol.
Really great looking figure, really hoping you’re onto something about being able to snag one of these later down the road.

I’ve always loved the platinum blonde. I recently painted a Super Saiyan Blue Demoniacal Fit Goku’s hair a nice light blonde, it came up great.
I just wish so badly that I could get this.

I love the hair and faces on this guy. I personally liked the full power faces a lot cause they felt a lot like the anime. And they look even better here. Really hope i can get him but if i cant i’ll get over it cause im pretty tired of this goku mold
That is definitely the best yelling face we’ve ever had on a DBZ figure. Wow.
So Goku’s hair color when it comes to SSJ, SSJ2, and SSJ3 has nothing to do with time period. It’s whether he has his aura active or not. When the aura is active, the hair is yellow/ orange, when it’s inactive, the hair is platinum blonde. You can see this all across Z, for every Super Saiyan. Hope that clears things up. (Also the face with the gritted teeth is from what this model is based on, the panel in the manga where he turns SSJ2 for the first time. That’s also why he has the halo and the torn Gi)
Man it seriously sucks to live so far away from any major cons and not being really good at planning / saving to go to one to get these things. Really hoping they go up on p-bandai at some point… if not, Oof…

Depending on the form. Goku Super Saiyan awakening I like it to be the pale yellow. For Ss2 I think if they did flat yellow with orange shading. And then ss3 I think metal flake works fine. Personally I do prefer the flat yellow vs the shiny gold. But metal flake isn’t terrible
Bro oh my god he blows the original out of the water. Not a big feat that was a terrible figure but man I wish they went up on Premium Bandai like last years. I kinda wish he came with a SSJ1 bang piece to swap with but I think he’s great as is. He’s definitely grail number 2 for me along with Ultra Instinct Sign Goku.
Preordered him last night from Pbandai when they went up. I've been waiting on a SS2 Goku forever and I always miss the 3rd party preorders so... March 23rd is a long way away but hey, I'll take it.
Now I just gotta repaint the kitbash Majin Vegetas to the platinum metallic.
I think the teeth gritting face might be his surprise that Vegeta went SSJ2 as well. For real though, I seriously hope these aren't SSDC exclusives because I'm really interested in Goku and Android 16 lol.

I believe that the lighter hair was because they were new to the Super Saiyan form, as they'd be actively maintaining their ki, which would create the glowing aura. Later when they'd mastered the form, like Goku and Gohan coming fresh out of the time chamber, the deeper yellow shows that they're not actively trying to keep their energy up, so they're not glowing.
but mastered super saiyan is the easiest example of the platinum blonde hair, not deeper yellow, it's mostly super that has yellow for base super saiyan while z had blonde for ssj and gold for charging ki, although ssj3 is the exception

Just got mine, gotta say be careful. The face plates on mine were super loose and would fall off constantly along with the neck being loose as well. In the process of trying to get a refund right now.
I really like the new hair colors it looks vibrant to me the older ones are still cool I think any of them that I really do like the Platinum Look

I’m still low key upset that this is an Event Exclusive, but better to have at least one SSJ2 Goku, as opposed to nothing at all.
That being said, I think this looks fantastic. The faces on this figure look SO much better than the OG Full Power Super Saiyan Goku faces.

I like the platinum blonde for ss2, it helps transition to ss3 with its metallic hair coloring, if it was just the regular yellow like on ss1 it would've been too dull for me imo.
I guess for me I see it a few different ways The high yellow could be a amateur or novice beginner color and the platinum blonde is more adept to master level Super Saiyan with the powers but they squashed that thought with full power Goku being high yellow so it could just be it's high yellow when they're charging up and platinum blonde when they're not charging up something like rose Goku black the shimmering hair is powering up and the pink flat pink hair is not powering up
I like the yellow better but this looks nice only thing I don’t like is the eyebrows being a different color than the hair

Full Power Goku's belt came backwards from factory, you can fix that just rotating the belt, the front part is in the back
Mine came upside down. Just had to pop the torso off.

How does the plastic quality hold up compared to the Full Power Goku? I’m still on the fence about this and I think if it’s got a better quality than Full Power Goku I may pull the trigger
I didn't have a problem with my full power but this one is as good as normal

It’s an amazing figure, the range they got from the butterfly joints for such a wide figure is damn near witchcraft. The extendable ankles are a runner up. It poses like a dream.

Platinum blonde looks way better than yellow. That’s how it always was in the show. All the super saiyan characters should look like this!
Wouldnt it just have been better if they used Super Buu’s leg and baggy pants look and articulation for all characters with baggy pants???
If i remember right from when i watched your super buu video and even displaying my own super buu that he probably had the best leg articulation without ruining the look of the knees when bent, can split, can fully kick behind and in front, wasnt too sure about ankle and toe articulation. I dont understand why tamashii just doesnt incorporate super buu leg mold or something for all other baggy pants characters

The problem with the faces is that when you look straight into Goku's eyes, you just don't see his nose and then he looks goofy.

Surprised Vegeta hasn't gotten a regular buu saga base Vegeta with ssj 2 head, not Majin and maybe a more spikey hair to allow us to finally differentiate ssj2 Vegeta from ssj1 as sometimes they don't do the electric aura around him.
