For some reason I felt like a I was watching a "How to Basic" video in the beginning. I was expecting to see a bare foot and some raw eggs get thrown randomly lol.
As a female backpacker, I always have a problem packing but now seeing how males do it...I feel so inspired ha ha ha Just bought a 50 L backpack for Vietnam trip...will do my best to be a minimalist. Thanks for the tips..
As a part time resident in Thailand, I recommend one black, or predominantly black shirt in case you attend a funeral. Shorts, bring river shorts. They are easy tp wash in the shower and also work as swim trunks with cargo pockets. Make sure and legwear has cargo pockets. My favorite trekking sandals are from Teva and Columbia. Flip Flop that are comfy? Sunuk Faultlines or Beer Cozies rock. My favorite hiking boots are Merrill Moabs, great for the wet and the dry. I wear mine on the USA for no reason at all. Nice video!
Hey, good video. I would make a couple of suggestions, more shorts than trousers for sure, I get away with one pair of trousers now, because its just so hot in asia! I recommend Linen trousers and shorts, or sports shorts. I found swim shorts to be too sticky to wear casually, also I found it better to get a pair of casual shorts with a lining and swim in them. Most locals swim with their clothes on in Asia so you do stand out in swim-wear. Would also take more underwear and less shirts, would take at least one long sleeved shirt you can use if mosquitos are about, and a shirt and t-shirt is warm enough for a lot of colder places. I found a Hoody isnt needed in the hot countries like Thailand and Philippines. Also try and get a pack that fits in cabin luggage size, usually a 40l pack will fit. Saves paying for hold luggage and it wont get lost! You ideally need to aim at getting your pack under 7kg, for Air Asia you have to be that weight, but you can wear a few things, and put a few things in your pockets to get the weight down. I think with all that tech its going to be way over that limit but I do understand you need all that to do video blogs etc. Would recommend just the ipad and no laptop unless people need to do a lot of work away from home. Also I found that I needed breathable footwear again due to the heat and humidity.
Hi Alexander. Fellow Giants fans here! My husband and I are traveling to Thailand in two weeks for our honeymoon. We plan to be there a month. Do you recommend any synagogue to visit? also wat is the best bug spray in your opinion? Thanks for all the tips!!
You need at least one pair of long pants, or there will be a lot of places you can't go. Some temples and other religious places, and in general graves will you need long pants to be allowed in. If you have to walk in a jungle it's preferable to. In some mountains and caves it can be cold, at some times a year.
I just travelled for 3 months with a 40L bag. The amount of stuff you need doesn't change. A 2 week trip needs the same amount of stuff as a 2 month trip when you think about it. Remember you can always buy more clothes over there.
I rather not bring white shirts because sometimes laundry services mess it up and your shirts end up with orange stain all over them. Happened to me far too many times... I Just got back from a crazy good trip in Southeast Asia where I shot my very first Travel film. Feel free to check it out and be sure to ask me if you wanna know some good destination in Asia!
Hi Alexander. Great post. Few questions, where did you get your boots from? And do those ear plugs/muffs block out any sound? If so could you tell me the brand name so I can search on Amazon.
rossco129 my boots were found used at Buffalo Exchange, with no brand on them ha. Sorry that won't help. And the ear plugs I used were Hearos, but I believe they're just cheap ones. Any ear plugs seem to work for me
Hey! I also have a Kelty Redwing 50 liter backpack, have you ever had any trouble traveling carry-on only with it? Have you ever been told that it's too big?, thanks!
Great tips, Alexander. I grabbed the Redwing 50. Were you able to get away with it as a carry-on? I'll aim not to fill it to capacity. Also: Merino Wool T-shirts, socks, and underwear 👌
Seriously 3 T-shirt’s? 3 underwear? And 3 socks? Those are the items I would bring more of. And I’ve traveled Asia a lot. Unless you want to stink there. I’ve often changed shirts 2-3 times in a day it’s so hot. Stay dry shirts are lightweight and can wash and dry quickly. Bring 5 they take up no room. If you’re wearing shoes you want more then 3 socks. Underwear speaks for itself. How much room would 2-3 more underwear take up?
1 - I keep the camera in the small daypack or on me at all times. While packing for the big trip, the day pack is stuffed, so I just keep the camera at the very top of the backpack where it’s safest from being squashed. 2 - medicine I just keep with all my toiletries. Just a small plastic box or two of meds like aspirin next to toothbrush and all. Or buy when you arrive

yeah i brought way to much stuff to when i was in Indonesia and Thailand :D I had the 50L as a day back pack and a bit larger one (like 80L) for other stuff, but i don't think it is wrong to have larger backpacks, unlike in Europe you (at least i) never pay extra for check in baggage. i Hope you didn't confuse anyone.

This is the packing list of someone who has only ever read about what to pack, and not actually carried the things on his back for two years. Some of the things I just laugh at, but I’m sure he got rid of a bunch of shit that he thought he needed.
Way too much stuff. I travel SEA multiple times a year, and unless you're there on business and need formal clothes, I get by with a 25l backpack, two shorts, three t-shirts, 5 undies, thongs, cap sunnies and that's about it (plus standard toiletries and electronics). I've been going there for 20 years and never worn long pants or a collared shirt or boots ever. If you're there longer than a couple of weeks you can buy more clothes there.
Cool story bro. There's no such thing as too much stuff as long as you only bring what YOU need. It's all individual. For me I carry a 40L backpack in SE Asia and I always have extra room. If someone wants to carry a 70L backpack, that's their problem.

"They don't all have to be Hawaiian shirts... but they should be"
Opposite is true
As a female backpacker, I always have a problem packing but now seeing how males do it...I feel so inspired ha ha ha Just bought a 50 L backpack for Vietnam trip...will do my best to be a minimalist. Thanks for the tips..
You can do it! I’ve met many female travelers with 50 liter packs who are traveling for a year
As someone who has frequently visited SE Asia, the most important tip is to bring an umbrella with you wherever you go.
As a part time resident in Thailand, I recommend one black, or predominantly black shirt in case you attend a funeral.
Shorts, bring river shorts. They are easy tp wash in the shower and also work as swim trunks with cargo pockets.

Nice video!
I prefer not pack so much stuff because if you need something (like socks, flip flops) you buy them super cheap locally

Great video! The perfect balance of information and brevity.
Good video! Thanks! I'm heading to Bangkok in two weeks.
Good luck! Bangkok is awesome
Great tips 👌
one of the better packing videos out there. well done!
Ha thank you, although this was the first video I EVER made. I think it should be redone
Frankly, it's like magic how u pack those in. Planning a solo trip to Thailand to venture in some nature parks. Your videos is great advice.
Gabriel Pang thanks a lot, thank you for watching and good luck tracking in Thailand

Looks over 7kg?
Great and concise! And I like how you didn't use a bunch of special fancy gear for packing, definitely applicable to my life.
Thank you! I think it’s a good way to go about it
As a southern East Asian , 2 things most important when you travel at South East Asia .. Raincoat or Umbrella .. trust me it really worth it 😎
Yes true, true
good tips from you, strongly agree on numbers and tricks! keep it up and have good travels
Thanks a lot and thanks for watching!
Hey man this was really clear and useful thank you!
Great video! I was just in Southeast Asia - vid in my channel. This packing tips are a must!
I see a lot of people bring only 3-5 pairs of socks and underwear. I bring 12+. Is everyone doing laundry this often?
What boots are those?
but I think kindle is great deal than book
because 1 book is not enough but with kindle we can carry tones of books
You are bringing already quite a lot ;D
great video dude
Thank you ✊🏻
How do you wash your clothes?
Laundromat or in the sink with a sink stopper
How many days is that pack for
When on a day trip, where is all the things safe?
What brand are those boots? I like them 😍
must be easy for guys..
Oh yes it is
Why? I pack the same stuff, and I'm not a guy.
What if I am travelling for a month, would 50L bag be still enough?
I just travelled for 3 months with a 40L bag. The amount of stuff you need doesn't change. A 2 week trip needs the same amount of stuff as a 2 month trip when you think about it. Remember you can always buy more clothes over there.
Very useful video thanks man ! For girls parcking we usualy add few stuff more but actually it can fit in as well haha
"Make sure they're (t-shirts) not too flashy." Immediately throws down three Hawaiian shirts.
Wondering what your essential toiletries are?
Great great video good detail really helps!
1st 30 seconds reminded my of How To Basic 😂
Just wondering what is the total weight of the bag after you've packed it?is that under the carryon weight limit which is 7kg?
Nice mate, keeping it simple, i hate it when people pack an actual suitcase for traveling around!
That's the number 1 mistake! So much easier and better to travel with less
I agree too mate, the travel laundry kit is a brilliant idea!
I rather not bring white shirts because sometimes laundry services mess it up and your shirts end up with orange stain all over them. Happened to me far too many times...

Alexander Travelbum thanks for the reply. All the best for your adventures in 2018.
actually that kind of shirt is not a norm here in south east asia when you go to temples. wear white. more white, the better.
Haha yes, it was more of a joke. The Hawaiian shirt thing. True, White is best for temples and weather
why do you sound like casey neistat ? even the editing style xD
Hey man, great video! Can you expand on the point about multiple passport photos? Why would you need that many?
Hey! I also have a Kelty Redwing 50 liter backpack, have you ever had any trouble traveling carry-on only with it? Have you ever been told that it's too big?, thanks!
Nope, never. I know it can happen, but if you pack it down and strap it tight, it appears much smaller than it is
Thank you for answering man!
Link for the awesome daypack please??
35l club is the future!
Great tips, Alexander. I grabbed the Redwing 50. Were you able to get away with it as a carry-on? I'll aim not to fill it to capacity. Also: Merino Wool T-shirts, socks, and underwear 👌
Yes definitely you can use as a catty on? Just pack it up as tight as you can and make it appear small

2 things:
1. Where do you put the Canon 70D + lens(es)?
2. People showing how to pack never carry any medicine. Not even an aspirin.

where is the alcohol, hand sanitizer and Face mask. Seriously, that’s a cool bag.
No medicine or toiletres?sport shoes?
Nice video
i take 20l duffle bag and a 12l waterproof rucksack.
Way too heavy. Choose lighter gear. Cut down on the leather and heavy materials.
Nach 8 Monaten Asien kann ich den Vaude Zerum nur empfehlen. Ultra leicht und fürs Handgepäck geeignet.

I love you MacBook case
It looks like a slive to me.
take first aid kit people ull get rekt and wish u had it
bro u packed like ur closet lol
who wears shoes inside???
Hundreds of millions of people haha. For example, most Americans have no problem with it. And many countries in Western Europe do too. As examples
