Calm down dear. A band making mainstream music from an 'underground' genre or whatever you want to call it doesn't devalue the music that has come before it, it just introduces more people to that sound. You get it in metal all the time. If this song truly did 'kill drum and bass' then it must have been in a sorry state already.

@@oliverjones5350 No no, you're wrong. See people like the OP have so little else in their lives that they feel the need to gatekeep genres of music, they think they alone have the authority to decide who does what with their favourite genre, without realising that if their genre was that unbelievably amazing to people's ears it wouldn't need a group like Pendulum to come along and make music that isn't 95% wank sludge to make it successful.

I would argue that pendulum lead to jump up, liquid DnB, etc. diluted a really decent scene, led to chart success and meant that the old school got less raves and didn't get the new fans they deserved. only a few of the old school survived by adding lyrics electric guitar riffs etc. (Hype / Andy C) What I mean is that after pendulum it wasn't really a drum n bass scene any more. couple that with the smoking ban and it just became like every other dance music scene, student-y, middle class and wack. Less MCs less jungle tracks etc. etc. ruined the music for me. And it was sad to see all the pioneers get nothing out of it. The term drum and bass doesn't really mean much any more. RIP skibadee
