    Bad Brains were leaps and bounds above the rest. Their ferocious energy combined with amazing technical proficiency and musical volatility made them one of the more unique and innovative hardcore bands.

      PSYCHOTRONICbrdcst hi nice to meetya! i did not ever see them. i think they still tour, however. i dated the drummer for Reagan Youth (well, one of the drummers) for a little while and he turned me on to them, it was a few years ago and ive been addicted ever since!

      Thanks, you too. I found live footage of them from last year but apparently HR has left the band (rumour has it he went a bit crazy or some such). But in any case, they changed to metal/crossover a long time ago, and musically they're a very different band as to how awesome they were in the early 80s. But you know all that much better than I. LOL

    Ingenious for the time, took rock to new speeds (this is before thrash), Look at HR, the singer, looks like he is dressed to go to the discotheque and decided to do this for fun.

    It is hard to deny the technical prowess, and comprehension of the ethos, and yes, it is ironic that a genre, mostly associated with disaffected young white men would be perfected by a band of Jamaican Rastafarians.
    Very ironic indeed.

    saw them with Beastie Boys in 95, didn't even have a clue then, went and bought a cd, and found one in a collection of cds somebody stole, Rock for Light, blew my mind, as I get older I'm starting to realize the significance and affect they had on most early punk bands, especially East coast, insane!

    This was filmed by Paul Bishow in 1978, Paul has lent the footage to many films since. I believe he lent the footage to the Clash's manager, Don Letts as well as the upcoming HR documentary filmed by Shamus & Rob of Small Axe Prouctions. Paul Bishows' movie has been shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York & at the Hirshorn Museum of the Smithsonian Institute. Paul Bishow is on Facebook.
