Coached T-Ball one year and had a kid run straight to 3rd after his hit. I yelled out from the dugout, “Run to 1st!” “U gotta runt to 1st base!” My player yelled back at me all calm, “Why?!” “3rd base is closer to home!” Lmao! Best time as a coach was T-Ball, hands down!
@@eugenepiurkowski6026 when I was that age I woulda tagged him and ran the other guy down cause I was ahead for my age so if I woulda threw it to somebody it woulda ended up 10ft past them cause they couldn’t catch. According to the rules of baseball a runner in route to 1st base cannot stop his progress toward the base. The runner was out long before he stepped out of the bast path.
This reminds me of when you're playing with your dog in the backyard and you start chasing him and he keeps running away from you and then all of a sudden you stop and turn around and start running in the opposite direction and now for some reason the dog starts chasing you and then you just keep going and switching back and forth chasing one another for no reason..... heh good times
Rule is- if the fielder has control of the ball (in his hand or glove) he can legally be in the way of the runner, if the fielder does not have control of the ball and he/she makes contact with the runner, the runner is awarded the base.
Kyle.russek the fielder has to be making a play on the ball and does not have to have control of the ball. However this player had the ball and was trying to make a tag and the runner went out of the baseline to avoid the tag the runner is out but this is fun to watch kids at that age!!!
Now this is baseball. When you can smile, laugh and have fun. That was some serious 1st base defense. Gotta give credit for trying to get the the base. I miss playing little league. Best years of my life.
that seems backwards. I've seen first 2 strikes pitching then hit of the tee that makes sense. Or warm the kids up on the tee's first innings then get them to swing away.
I did this once but it was at home because I stepped on the bag and they said I wasn't on so I was at the circle and the catcher went after me and I had the sweetest just in baseball history. Play of the year.
lol are you people serious??!! to all the people saying stuff like NO RUNS COUNT, HE WENT OUT OF THE BASE-PATH, HES OUT, etc... chill out, it's t-ball. obviously the game isn't going to be taken seriously.
That league keeps detailed stats of the games, and only selects the top 5 T-ball players in the league to move onto Little League. The rest of the children are brought out to and left deep in the wilderness to try and survive on their own.
its cut throat.. lol na man chill out they dont even keep score didnt looks like they even had real bases. You have to teach the kids base running and defense.
That's beautiful man that that is funny as hell tee ball is so fun to watch cuz they're learning and having a good time and enjoying themselves that is just absolutely funny playing basically dodgeball with the mitt 👍👍
Unless tee-ball has different rules or something, it doesn't matter whether it's a force out or he's tagged. What matters is whether or not there are 2 outs. If there are, he has to reach base safely for any runs to count. If not, then any runs that score count.
It is very difficult to get an idea at this age if a child is "into sports". Tee Ball hardly qualifies as a sport. Anyone that takes Tee ball as a serious game has issues.
The FUN is what the kids are having when they play the game. Teach them concepts at this age, but you should not really care about rules. They will be plenty of that later on down the road.
stop taking this so seriously people. This is why kids are the best thing we got going for us. Its just a funny video of a couple kids learning the game of baseball. if you can't just watch this and laugh your taking life and yourself WAY to seriously.
I still remember the day I learned that first base was a force out and you didn't have to tag the runner and that was seventy years ago. I was 4 years old, we were playing ball in our front yard. It was at the start of my life long love of the game.
Back when I was in t-ball in the early 90's the ump would of said immediately your out stupid you went off the baseline. Then I would be benched the rest of the game. But nowadays you get awards for tieing your skates.
After this game the batter was cut and had his t-ball contract terminated. Last I heard he was kicking around somewhere out west playing single A ball, boozing it up every night at dive bars and lamenting about what could have been.
Note to coaches and grown-ups who want to coach: coach pitch in baseball should NEVER be underhand. It sets the kids up for a bad time when they get to kid pitch and the kids are throwing overhand.
Thank God, parents who can laugh at the antics of their kids playing ball, rather than getting mad they didn't do it right. Or at the coach, or the umpire.
That is sooo funny, it is technically hilarious " you can't catch me, you can't catch me " OK, I will just run to the base what should've done in the first place, but hey, I loved it
i have to agree with you... i grew playing ball my whole damn life and not once did i hear this kinda shit, and i come from a very populated state that produces many, many athletes.

that’s hilarious!!!
I can totally relate. I had a kid run to 1st bases and kept goin straight down the foul line in right field.
I did that same thing. My first T-ball hit I ran to third because someone was already on first. And that was the end of my baseball career.
I did that in t ball
Kid in red:You can’t catch me!
Kid in blue: Finally realized he didn’t have to.

I would've said OUT HE WAS OUTSIDE OF BASELINE
The manager should have reviewed the play for the red team. Obviously the kid was in the path of the runner. Pft
And the runner was way off the baseline.

how many runs were scored during this dance? It looked like the woman was waving runners home
None, it was a force out. If the first basemen had tagged the runner, then any runs scored would have counted.

i like when little kids do this during t-ball. It just makes the game all the more enjoyable.
No sense in teaching the wrong way even though they are just kids. As soon as the kid pauses and starts going out of the baseline he is out.
in tee ball?....LOL...you are kidding!!! You are the parent that we Sports Directors Loathe.
If a child is not into sports, there is no reason for them to play. Therer is also no reason to loathe anyone.

Adrian Beltre from the Rangers did something similar, running to Left Field to avoid a tag. I'm sure you can find the video.
