  • Hi friends! In this video, I show you how to crochet the beautiful cluster stitch! You will simply repeat two rows throughout the pattern and it's pretty easy to memorize which I love. Currently, I'm making a cotton rug for my daughter's bathroom with this stitch and it's working up beautifully. It's a perfect stitch for baby blankies and washcloths in my opinion as well! You can find a photo tutorial as well as a look at my daughter rug progress on my blog at www.mamainastitch.com/ (That blog post will be up by the evening of Friday, May 25) Thanks so much friends!

Thanks for taking the time to make and share this tutorial. I picked up the stitch instantly! The thin yarn and larger hook made it easier for me to actually see what and why the outcome was to be. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

Wow. Thanks to your video, I was able to get this down on the FIRST try! My edges are straight and even. I'm using a #3 crochet thread and absolutely love the way the stitches are turning out. Great tutorial.

Thank you for your great tutorial. I am crocheting a shawl using this stitch and variegated yarn in purple/burgundy tones . It's turning out lovely. Your instructions are easy to follow and very thorough.

Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been struggling with understanding crochet techniques for a while now, and you explained/showed what you were doing so well that I actually was able to cluster stitch!

So grateful for this video! I'm not an avid crocheter, but this tutorial is good. I'm sure my friend will love this baby blanket.

Thank you so much, this was a great video to learn the cluster stitch! It doesn't matter which hook you use, as long as it works for you which it clearly does as your swatch is beautiful! 😊

I love the stitch but I hate wooden crochet hooks, they are really clumsy to work with. Thank you for a lovely tutorial x 💕

Is this not the same thing as DC4TOG (double crochet 4 together)? I didn't know if there was a difference, bc they look like they're worked exactly the same to me?? Thanks!

Mama, don’t you go worrying or fretting over any of those grumpy comments. You clearly showed your swatch that was show-worthy in the beginning of your nice video. Bamboo hooks are more difficult to work with. In fact, those crochet needles helped me enormously when I was first learning tension and to take my time with more tiresome patterns. Those are often the most rewarding as well. I also got a good chuckle when you dropped that stitch. There in nothing more clobbers than having to rip an entire row because you lost count on a tiered simple stitch. It seemed to me like that was on purpose! And good thing for me too, because I plan on trying this in the round!

I wish I said “I found it humorous
“ in stead of “ I got a chuckle”. It s more pretty to say that. Also, the stitch is going well. Thank you for the nice video post.

Working with another yarn would be better. Also, in order to demonstrate the stitch effectively I think it's best to have an established piece to work from.

It was extremely painful to watch this video due to the struggling with that terrible sharp dragging online bamboo hook. I'd have not be distracted had the hook glided. Also I struggle with this stitch through most and my problem is getting the hook thru and I think I dont understand how to control the height of each dc you add before pulling thru all 5 strands. I'm always fighting it like I'm a brand new beginner. I'm desperate to make a cluster slouchy! Can you explain how to control height of the building docs? TIA!

I agree. She should work with a different hook.

I decided to make a demo video of this stitch. I thought the video was really good still, but I also know I used to get irritated watching crochet videos when I got started. I am going to post it later today.

What you are calling a “single crochet” is called a double. What you are calling a “double crochet” is a treble. But thanks.

This video is US terms. What you're thinking are UK terms. So she is correct in this video. US & UK aren't the same terms even though they are the same stitch.
