    Should always drill in the brick..many air pockets in mortar.

      The problem with that is you have a better chance of chipping the brick. And if you chipped the brick, well, guess what that's not near as easy as going and putting some mortor in the joint

    id get a more decorative hook for the end. then, screw the tapcon all the way in. then leave it.

    Make sure to use masonry bits and not wood or metal bits.

    what if customer doesnt want you to drill through brick

      RJ aka BigBase50 we never had that as a problem.
      Then they won’t get a wreath
      There is a hanger that will attach to the brick but I haven’t found a wall yet that it will go on

      he didn't drill through the brick. You will never see that hole in the mortar. You can fill it up with caulk if you're worried about water, leave the screw in there or simply put mortar back in and it will fade back into the color of the other mortar over time. This is done every day. It's how cable/dish companies get wires into a house for tv and internet.
