He was ahead of his time lyrically
His freestyles...lord!!!
No. The time was ahead of his lyricism.
I was a huge Canibus fan when he was doing his thing. And I'm here to tell you he has one of the best verses of all time. It's on The Firm album (Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ). The song is called Desperadoes. That's definitely worth a reaction.
Desperados slapped something vicious
Few know about this. Respect
Probably my favorite verse from him
Minister Farrakhan line..GAME OVER!! Still luv ya LL!! Also, that "ass" line caught us off guard too when this came out..🤣
Highly recommend one of my favorite canibus tracks by far: Buckingham Palace. That last verse in particular is amazing
Original Unreleased Version with the female voice on the hook is incredible!!
Gotta look that up
m.ruclips.net/video/tpEYeBRvsag/видео.html he means this one from clue mixtape
Whenever the head is severed from the human body with a sharp enough weapon the brain remains conscious for 10 seconds, long enough for me to give you 1 last message and when you get to hell you can tell lucifer I said it 🔥
@@carlhorton6831 whenever I repeat those lines I get goosebumps!
LL's reasons for starting this beef have always been dumb to me. All the man said was " let me borrow the Mic on your arm". He was just painting a picture. That shit wasn't a diss. I was glad Canibus went at LL for this dumb shit.
THAT WASN'T THE ONLY REASON LL AND CANIBUS HAD A TALK, AND HE WANTED TO GET THE SAME MIC LL ON HIS ARM AS LL, NOW REALLY, WHO WANTS SOMEONE ROCKING A TATTOO THE SAME OR EITHER SIMULAR TO ONE YOU JUST GOT, NOT ONLY THAT CANIBUS SAID A FEW SUBLIMINAL LINES IN HIS VERSE "I'LL SNATCH THE CROWN OFF WITH YOUR HEAD ATTACTHED TO IT, HE WAS REFERRING TO THE MIC TATTOO ON LL ARM, AND THE FACT LL SAID HE IS THE GOAT, SO THE CROWN.....IF YOU WATCH NORE DRINK CHAMPS WITH REDMAN THEY TALK ABOUT IT
LL said wassup on drink champs
@@Lin-rb2yx why are you typing in all caps ? Lol
@@VeegovonDOOM no reason, I actually do it because I want people to see my comment, most people type normal, so if mine is all caps 1most times it'll be read first so I know it was seen, I love to debate, until you run into the computer gangsta because you don't agree with them they wanna name call and swear they'll come 500 miles and beat my ass lol
"Borrow" means to steal in NY
You on it man! LL did respond though. “The Ripper Strikes Back” was his response to this. The Common/Cube reference was because Cube (Westside Connection) dissed Common (the song is called westside slaughterhouse) for the “I Used to Love HER” joint and Common responded to Cube with “The B**ch in Yoo”
So, that’s where Canibus got that from. But yeah, LL responded with Ripper Strikes Back. Then he responded again with “Back Where I Belong” and Canibus responded with “Rip The Jacker” and then they squashed it.
Can i bus out of entire albums dedicated to LL Cool J, too. I didn't know they ever squashed the beef, but I know it wasn't until mid-late 2000s. Almost a decade after it started, and it definitely destroyed Can-i-bus career
I don’t believe it was ever squashed.
@Pooz30 it was squashed kinda, they went on stage together but bis was uncomfortable for sure, and he didn't even use his original line which sucked ass
Canibus thought that Eminem wrote that song for LL. He and Wyclef kinda confronted Em about who wrote it thinking that it had Em's print on it, or that LL couldn't spit like that.
Em says he didn't write it though.
@Myrick McRae I figured by now em would have said if he did or not!you never know🤷♂️
Next Canibus song you should react to is “100 Bars”.
I'm known geographically and intergalactically
That's why I got extraterrestrials that wanna battle me🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The beat was impossible to respond to in 1998. There was.no way to counter that raw delivery. I was 19 years old at the time. Legendary.
Back in 97-98 on the radio waves here in NYC. Everyone on the radio said LL won but on the streets everybody knows Canibus bodied Mr. Smith. Only problem for Canibus is that LL is a Veteran of the game. So he will always have more commercial level loyalist.
streets? na son, in reality they BOTH went it.. and whats funny is that Canibus had the more commercial song (wyclefe on the beat, Tyson in the background?)..
@@soramirez5473 Fact's. Canibus had a damn video out for this diss track for crying out loud.
LL won to me
Yup you ain’t lying bout that

I was a heavy LL kid in this era, but this was my sh*t. Everything about it was perfect including the video with mike tyson...took a page out the kool moe dee playbook iykyk...
Poet Laureate II is one of Canibus’ best songs

I thought I was the only one preaching this shit lol.
@@MedicineMan510 My second favorite rap song, only behind Suicidal Thoughts by Biggie.
Yes that’s Mike Tyson. He was featured in the video as well.
Ice CUbe took offense to Commons I Use to Love Her on the line about the boyz in the hood which sparked a back n forth between Cube and Common... Common killed Cube with a song called Th Bitch in You
Exactly💯👍🏼👍🏼
Canibus won this battle, it’s LL’s stature that won
na LL had lyrics also..
Yeah but ll still lost the battle portion of the beef
@@tyresefisher3921 battle portion? i dont think so.. LL had lyrics too
@@soramirez5473 he did but he still lost
L lost the “battle” but won the war, Money Mayweather style lol. Countered everything Canibus said and got the decision. The most memorable track from the whole situation is this, so Canibus definitely won the battle itself...
When this track came out back in 97 I think it was, LL was universally considered the goat of hip hop. He was the one dude you didn’t fuck with on the mic. I remember rushing over to my cousin house to hear about this track everybody was talking about.
That one line is why I’ve never been able to bump that song loud in my car. I know how new yorkers mean it, but I can’t have nobody hearing me banging nothing like that, especially nowadays when dudes is really out here doing it and promoting it.
Common and Ice Cube had a lil rap beef with each other at one time and Common mad a song called “The Bitch in you” directed at cube. That’s what he meant by that other line you asked about.
Lol. That line was sus in NY as well!
Lol. That line was sus in NY as well!
@@jaydubbxperiod 😂🤣
That’s not what it meant back then man😂😂. But yes it sounds crazy as hell now.
even in new york ppl was like eh its bit iffy they got what he meant but I remember in school in the bronx ppl felt that line was sus.....
The ice cube and common line was referring too ice cube and common beef
West side connection dissed common on a track called "king of the hill"
And common released a diss track too ice cube called " the bitch in you"
"Like common and cube, I can see the bitch in you" - Canibus
When I first heard this I knew it was no way LL was capable of coming back with a response close to these lyrics! Flawless victory!💯
Most underrated diss of all time.
As mike Tyson said, canibus was EATING
There's a video of Pun, Nore, DMX, and Canibus freestyling. Canibus starts rapping verses from this song. When he gets to the ass eating bar DMX busts out laughing at him 😂 😂 😂. Engrossing else tried to keep a straight face, but they were struggling after X started laughing
Honestly, it seems more like X just thought it was a hard line. Dudes didn't really think of the line like that back then, even with X, he's said plenty of things that's seen as "pause" worthy now, but in the day, we didn't even think of it that way.
@@RebelWithoutABoss this is absolutely false. New York dudes have been playing pause since the early 90s. They definitely were thinking like that. My immature teenage self was thinking like that back when 2nd Round KO came out, too lol
Yes!!! New Canibus fan. He's one of the best lyricists to ever be in the game. U should def check out Poet Laureate 2, Dr. C PhD, and Beast from the East.
With your Pun avatar i cant believe you didnt request Fanastic 4. Pun and Canibus killed that shit.
Poet Laureate 2 got me through college
Yooooo! LMAO!!! I forgot about that "eat a nigga ass" line!
I'm HOLLERING! We had the same facial expression! This made my day!!! LMAO
This is the most savage beef rap song ever. No cap
Canibus is an amazing lyricist, from his technique, to the knowledgehe drops. You know how you talk about MC's studying the dictionary, in one of his earliest interviews, Canibus speaks on having to read to dictionary, as a punishment, when he was a kid. PLEASE consider these tracks.
The C-quel
Nigganometry
Channel Zero
And The Lost Boyz - Beasts From The East
Deep bro..
Despardos -the firm
You need to run that canibus freestyle from the DJ Clue album
LL has a history of subbing people on his own tracks with them on it. You should do a video on “I Shot Ya” there is a couple of different people on that song that take shots at other people on the same song.
One if my all time fav songs, still remember when I bought this album when it dropped!
You should react to Desperados on the firm album featuring canibus or beast from the east by Lost Boyz ft Redman and Canibus. Those Canibus features are 2 of the dopest features in hip hop history.
FAAAAACTS!!! And don't forget that freestyle he spit on the Ice Cream beat, and the freestyle he dropped on the Wake Up show I think, where he said, "One of a kind, I got divine chromosomes in me...my sperm will scramble the eggs in a woman's ovaries!" That line will forever be on the extremely short list of the best verses ever spit in all of Hip-Hop history. Even typing it, I got chills and flashbacks! 😂🔥🔥🔥
Yes, Common and Ice Cube had beef at one point. Cube's group, Westside Connection dropped the diss song "Westside Slaughter House" because they didn't like Common's "I used to Love her." Common responded to Cube with the song "The Bitch in Yoo". Very dope diss track!
Lmfaooooo at the "pause moment". I get why you had that response. Back then the common slang was "get in they/her/his ass"(cuss them out), Canibus took it a bit further with the word "eat". (Back then I found it a poor word choice as well, cause I never heard someone say it till this song, lmao.) But yo, Canibus didnt shoot a sub at LL in 4,3,2,1...his verse was more of a shout out to his admiration for LLs work. He said the verse was inspired by getting invited to do the verse, then seeing LL's (brand new at the time), mic tattoo when they were writing their bars in the studio. LL then heard the verse , overreacted to it (as said by meth and red) and rewrote it as a diss to Canibus and so began the end of Canibus's career. Ish was crazy to live through as it happened, cause Canibus was supposed to be the next top emcee...
"I'll eat his ass" is meant as "I'll eat him on the mic". No different than "I'd beat his ass". It was common slang in 90s NY, the difference is porn...now that its at everyone's finger tips, booty eating is on everyone's mind. Back then, no one even blinked an eye, LL didn't even flip that bar in his response
@@lyricsanonymous9036 idk fam, I listened to mad NYC hip hop from that era and canibus was the only I can recall using it. I know what it means, just never the way he flipped it, as I said above.
Cool J's response was hard and even though I was a Canibus fan LL went hard in his response...
But he always did in his diss tracks. The "bitch in you" reference was Commons dis track which was a response to Cubes dis track with westside connection ....which was in response to commons "I used to love her" track where Cube felt Common dissed west coast hip hop.
I feel you , in your feeling about L’s comeback , but da big difference for me , canibus wrote his own lyrics and LL had a team of writers so L don’t get credit in my book !!
“Canibus, you got new fan, man” Bro! THATS what’s up!
I was waiting for the reaction at 4:08 😂😂😂
One of my favorite lines ever… “The Greatest Rapper Died On March 9th”-Canibus
Get it right. He said Cuz the greatest rapper "of all time" died on march 9th!
Those few missed words carry weight.
@@captaininsano2777 LMAO!! Word idk how I didn’t put that!! I’m at work and was tryna comment fast🤦🏽♀️
"But you aint got the skills to eat a nigga's ass like me" Best verse ever😂😂😂
Common dissed Ice Cube on a record called "The Bitch in You". That was the reference from Canibus
You want to see a dead body? Listen to this song!!! Classic!!
Great reaction Young King. The video was perfect for the song. Classic
March 9th is when BIG passed away.
THE BITCH IN YOU is a reference to a beef Common had with Ice Cube The main songs that were made in this beef are:
Common "I used to love HER"
WSC "Westside Slaughterhouse"
Common "Tha Bitch In Yoo"
saying "i'll eat yo ass on the mic" was a thing in the 90's. We didn't bat an eyelid cos times were less fruity back then. Btw check out Canibus - Master Thesis, shit will blow ya mind.
Common and Ice Cube was beefin at one point and one of Common’s diss tracks to Cube was “The Bitch In You.”
LL won this battle after “The Ripper Strikes Back” (Tunnel Banger 2). But Wycliffe had a response to that Record where he dissed LL called “What’s Cliffe Got to do With This” that was dope.
Sike
Nahhh you played yaself
@@mizzo_beeto I could never. Tunnel Banger 2 essentially ended Canibus recording career. He was never the same after.

methodan and redman speak on it on the beef dvd
“Its because of him I know what beef is” he’s mentioning biggies song “what’s beef” such a 🥶 line
LL Cool J's response to this is called "Ripper Strikes Back".
Also, Common had a diss to Ice Cube called "Bitch in You"
subscribed strictly because you are reacting to real hip hop songs. Keep it 100
And oh yeah, I think you missed the line where he said “Like Common and Cube, I see the bitch in you”. He’s referring to the diss track Common did on Cube that we were talking about when you reacted to ‘I Used to Love H.E.R.’. I’m sure you’ll react to that diss soon.
He mentioned Common and Cube because they had beef and " The Bitch In You" was the name of the diss track Common made against Cube,Mack 10 and Dub C
Wyclef killed it when he made this beat! Listen to that choir, it's still one of my top beats!
LL did respond. Check all the diss tracks and judge for yourself. This was hard. The hardest anyone ever came at LL, up to this point. Also check out LL's diss track to Ice T and cool moe dee and MC Hammer. LL did at least 4-5 tracks in response.
You gotta do *The Ripper Strkes Back* LL COOL J 🙏🏾🔥🇯🇲
One of the best diss records ever. LL is an all time top tier rapper but idk how people say LL beat Canibus. Canibus lyrically destroyed him from start to finish.
This is one of the weakest diss tracks ever to me and LL ended this babys career.
@@pfeiffdog0811 I’m more of a LL fan but this diss was hard. LL’s response was the ehh one out of the two.

You need to get into some Illidelph halflife songs from the roots. Great stuff,
The "Like Common and Cube I see the bitch in you" was a reference to Common and Ice Cube's beef at the time. Common and Ice Cube had a beef but they have since squashed it and are cool with each other.
LL and Canibus have actually done shows together years later...
Canibis is the MOST underrated rapper .
I still say LL won. This song shocked us all and blew us away but all LL had to do in response was show us he still got it. Canibus's career was never the same after his response and the dropping of his solo albums.
I have the opposite opinion, as does anyone who wants to be completely honest. NOTHING LL ever did lyrically compares to one verse on this diss, the alliterative skill he showed with the Farrakhan line. And I was a HUUUUUUGE LL fan at the time, as was my best friend. We were EXTREMELY disappointed in LL's response. All you ever see people quote from LL's response is the "99% of your fans don't exist" line, because that's literally the only memorable line from the song!
ALL of 2ND Round Knockout is a quotable! "...the greatest rapper of all time died on March 9th!" C'mon bro! You don't EVER come back from a line like that after calling yourself the GOAT! This man belittled his own skills to make that point to LL. When would LL ever make such a sacrifice to prove a point? Never, too much ego. He should've humbled himself the same way Jay did after Nas hit him with that Ether. When Jay said he didn't expect Nas to come back like THAT, that's the moment he grew up to me. LL never did. Pride is a funny thing for some. 🙏🏽
@@nashobalusa3288 You typed alot bruh and yet it didn't mean anything. I stand by what I said.
Oh, this is a classic battle... But all this shit is long past now, squashed in 2014. Even LL gave a shout out to Canibus in his speech when he was inducted into the hall of fame.
🙏🏾. Keep reacting to this album. It was good to start with 2nd round k.o. after 4321 but this album has bangers. Ya that was a PAUSE moment bout eating aZz.

In Common's song I Used to Love H.E.R, which was a metaphor for hip-hop, he talks about how his love interest in the beginning was innocent, conscious, and afrocentric but when she moved to the West she became loose and turned into a "gangsta bitch" referencing how when gangsta rap in the West Coast became mainstream every body wanted to be gangsta.
