This has to be the most....normal(?) music I've heard come out of a Glitchmachines plug-in. I love their stuff, but I seldom feel like I'm fully in control. Which is good! I use their stuff as kind of a glitchy seasoning, and it works great for that. Unpredictable, sounds amazing. If I sat down with the manuals and really woodshedded it, I could probably get more of a handle on it, but if it sounds good, it IS good, and their stuff sounds great!
Imagine having gotten all of their plug-ins on PB sales lmao. That's me, and I'm sometimes overwhelmed trying to learn it all, but I mitigate that by approaching it playfully and one parameter at a time! Great plug-ins. They're like polar opposites to the Puremagnetik plug-ins, but great for similar reasons as well. Definitely two lesser-known gems of plugin creators.
@@mikeexitsHa, yes, I don't have to imagine, I've only ever paid the PB sale prices for my GM plug-ins, and I've collected all of them. "Playfully" is a good approach!
We're in the same boat then, haha! GM and Puremagnetik are two of my favorite plugin makers. PM in particular is criminally underrated in my view. They put out good ambient and sound-collage music under their record label as well. Lots of great stuff out there. @@Euthymia
@@mikeexits, you probably also dig Unfiltered Audio; much of their line covers similar sound warping ground to Glitchmachines' (and a couple of their plug-ins have presets that were designed by Glitchmachines, so the companies must be buddies). There are even a few FX in the MeldaProduction Free bundle that can torque sound up pretty good. MComb and MFreqShifter, especially when modulation is enabled....
Nice video. One of the things about both Cataract 1 and 2 (and maybe a lot of Glitch Machines plugins) is that they can overpower a track if the whole preset is left playing throughout. Joshua's tutorial very neatly teaches us how to avoid this. Cataract 2 represents a quantum leap in usability over V1 in my opinion.
Apart from the user interface is it strictly necessary to upgrade to cataract 2.0 is there anything that version 1.0 doesn't have that this one does? the sound engine had some improvement? sorry for my english.
This company has some gems!
Agreed!! - JC

@@ComponCar12 Glitchmachines made new tutorial/overview videos for the new version. I suggest watching that to learn more about what's changed.
For a full video breakdown, I'd like to see an overview of what's been upgraded from Cataract 1 and how the workflow changes
The first clip reminds me of Venetian snares
Please do a full video on this 🙏🏽
I love the patch names that GlitchMachines come up with ...
Oh and the noises 😜
Brilliant design 👌
Clever stuff.
