Scaler is the best plugin I have ever bought. Its so useful at any stage in production. My advice is to just go buy it if you have the money now or if not wait for a sale. It is 100% worth every penny.
Yeah, I remember buying it when first came out for $19 bucks. So you better buy it before one day its like $299 LOL
I agree
Yeah I got it a few ,oaths ago and use it all the time. Need more videos like this, suppose I should do the course I got with it. I think it needs an update though because the GUI can be extremely slow and unresponsive on my m1Pro. Also it needs better timing adjustment for chord length
One of the first VST's I bought, as a newbie I saw it and said, oh yeh, this is what you need, and all the iterations and improvements along the way, this Scaler 2 is epic!
Joshua...a HUGE "Thank You" for filling in ALOT of gaps I had using Scaler and speeding up my workflow.
PB and Scaler tricks just keep getting better man, thanks for your service Joshua - and im about to buy the new stereo savage, ive got so many guitar singing jams that are flat as a bad note so happy days - it's been a great journey with you guys, I think I love you all - the coders are the balls . . .
I've been thinking about using Scaler to create some jazz backing tracks I can later use with my wind controller and Audio Modeling's SWAM Trumpet, Tenor Sax, etc, but after watching this, I realize that a better approach might be to play, say, a trumpet solo FIRST, then use your method to let Scaler determine the harmonization of my melody, i.e, suggesting the best chords to use, etc.
right out of the gate!!love it!!!!! love your scaler 2 tutorials, learn something every time.
I already knew this but didn't know how it could be employed in music production. Thanks for the composition tips.
Glad I picked this up. It makes writing music fun again. Thanks for the tips
I've had Scaler 1 and 2 for a good while now and didn't know this. Amazing vst
Fantastic and a great demo of some of the things that make Scaler great. I also love to use the voicing menu and they are 'contoured' chords made by artists. Nice tune!
Excellent demo! Thanks!
One of the best plugin i ever came across
I am so glad I discovered Scaler: it does so much for the price!
AAnnddd this is why this is the best and most useful plugin I own, so helpful.
This is THE most useful and concise tutorial for Scaler 2 I've seen. Scaler 2 is a very very powerful plug-in that I've had for a while, but have yet to fully wrap my head around as far as where it fits in my specific work flow.
I typically start with a sample, come up with my own bass line, then try to work out the key and the chords, This tip is a godsend for my use case. Thank you so much.
Used this last night for the first time. Still trying to wrap my mind around using it properly but this video definitely helps. I'll try it again today. Solid video
Still loving that felt piano sound. Best midi plugin there is, so many variations of chord voicings and performance.
That felt piano is a personal fav for me too :) - JC
This video only scratches the surface of what Scaler 2 can do!
Between not having Scaler 2 and Captain Chords/Melody EPIC I think my production flow would be infantile.
Thankyou, I didn't know that you could change the timing of the chords so easily. That's a time saver.
Yeah, the select-all-and-then-change-timing tip was golden from this video.
@@TehAwesomer Select some and change performances is pretty sweet too :) - JC
Thanks for this excellent video
I can’t wait to use this. This interesting to say the least.
i cannot believe i slept on scaler so long. I bought it a few days ago and I'm blown away! wow!
Great demo 🎖
Muchas gracias por su magnífico tutorial. Un fuerte abrazo.
No excuses with this!
Thanks for the lesson
Big tings. Thank you!
Excelente Programa y muy buena la explicacin. Gracias
very very very amazing best thanks...
WOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!! DUDE YOU JUST MADE MY DAY........
Top 🔝 Thanks for sharing ✌️
Wow, I am not using the tool to its max potential. Thanks for opening my eyes to what Scaler is capable of!

excellent
great tip Joshua, im not that good with chords either,so this will help immensely, cheers mate
Nice one, Ronny! Glad to help :) - JC
excellent - when is the Scaler 2 Upgrade Coming out?
Scaler 2 needs a metronome for STANDALONE functionality.
As it currently stands, there is no way for Scaler 2 to play a consistent chord sequence OUTSIDE of a DAW.
Even within a vst wrapper - Scaler chords will just play with random timings.
This is because Scaler 2 has no INTERNAL tempo/metronome to adjust the BPM when used OUTSIDE of a DAW (this is a VERY important feature for songwriting/practice purposes).
Please, add a volume adjustable metronome for STANDALONE use.
Thanks! ❤
Thanks for the video! Can you tell me if it's possible to control patterns in C mode (8*7 grid) using Launchpad? ;) how to do proper mapping?
Thnx…
that space bar is short cut in scaler 2? if this way what is the space bar functionality exactly ?
I didn't know that you could record notes like that in Scalar...
Excellent thank you and can can you tell me what DAW you are using?
Hey there. Yes, this is Ableton Live. - JC
I made magic things with scaler 2 😁💪
I see there is an ipad version of Scaler 2. It is identical to the computer version?
So I clicked songs > edm1 > c min and it sounds good
But when I go to main, I click c minor and it doesn’t sound the same. There’s extra keys in the edm c minor chord
I clicked all the modulations but none of them match the one in the song. How do I find the same variation?
What if we want to record Scaler's chords straight into a midi track without having to drag and drop? For example, say I bind a set of chords to some keys, but when I hit record in my DAW, I want Scaler's version of those chords to appear in the piano roll as I press their respective keys. Is that possible?
Yes, just set up a MIDI track to receive MIDI from Scaler, arm it to record, and you should be good to go :) - JC
I missed how to extend the Dynamic setting for more bass notes. I have to wondering if that was possible.
You should mess around with the voice-grouping feature... try them all out :) - JC
how do you know what the playback timing is. x2 stands for twice faster in Belgium
You can look at x2 like twice as long and x0.5 as half as long. Hope that helps. - JC
Idk, I think I prefer Mozaic Chord Prism GUI/layout more. But I think i'll give this a shot. Who knows, maybe it'll grow on me.
what do you mean "now when I hit the spacebar to adjust the transpose on my DAW"? I have a bunch of DAWs and I don't know which one transposes using the spacebar.
Try it on all of them then.
I believe "Voice Grouping" keeps the keys close through the progression. From my experience it doesn't spread them out.
It is unclear whether in 'daw sync' if Scaler is being driven by daw notes
via key bindings or just keeping in time with Scaler progression playback.
How To Play 3xOSC MIDI Notes In FL Studio via Scaler 2?
I think you can route the MiDI out from scaler and then assign the MIDI input in 3xOSC
@@ArsenialBeats 3xOSC doesn't have wrapper settings so I can't set MIDI Input.
@@BadTrip69 3xosc Cant be midi routed. What you could do is to take out the notes from scaler and use them in the piano roll of 3xosc. So you would have to work first with the scaler built-in sounds. Other option way more straightforward would be swappin your 3xosc for some other pluggin and avoid all the hurdle.
I must be mishearing things because the final result sounds awful. Seems like a lot of work for such horrible results…
RIP mixed in key
Plugin needs an online user presets pools..And needs absolutely midi sequencer editing window.
Thanks to this video 1.7 thousand people think a song composed of entirely 11th chords sounds good.
Are you familiar with Scaler? You have full control over every aspect of each of the chords, so the definitely don't all need to be 11th chords. That was not what this tutorial is about. If you would like to know more, I would be happy to link some other video tutorials about those additional topics. - JC
@@PluginBoutiqueOfficial I know, I was just making a joke. I just got Scaler 2 and was looking up tutorials.
@@Luke-ew6uo oh, wonderful! Enjoy. We have lots of tutorials on our page :) - JC
Why do you claim that I won't believe it? I can believe it! Think about that....
"very nice, how much?"
Bro if u think that progression is great than scaler not gonna help you.
Dude it's muddy af
"Felt Piano" is the worst preset to use in all of these Scaler videos for people who are trying to hear these examples who have tinnitus, ESPECIALLY in the lower register. It's really frustrating to watch these, when they sound so muddy
What rubbish.
I guess at least the manufakturer could come up with a better example. Invest in your ears, not in shoddy produkt that draws «pro level chords» out of a hat.
Terrible, especially given the choices and solutions for the 3rd and 4th chord.
In my opinion, from a strictly composing standpoint, those chords are way too rich for arpeggios at hand… and somehow confusing.
Great software. Terrible chord progression. 🙉
