    Thanks for this video. Sadly recently the property and rental market in Australia is in crisis no matter where you want to live. My suggestion also is to use social media amongst your expats and friends, as many properties are available unlisted. Props to your daughter she is a great spokesperson 😁

    I'm Aussie, born and bred and I have rented since I split with my wife a few years ago. In that time, in Perth, my rental has increased from $610 a week to $740 a week. The problem is that because there is so little available I am over a barrel, what option do I have but to put up with it? I looked during my time off work, rang plenty of agents and in my price range there was so little available and they were just crap value for money. Cheaper properties had so much competition, you'd rock up to a home open with 30-40 people. And what the double edge sword is because rent is so high it is difficult to save, so I'm sort of stuck renting. Getting a 10% deposit on a home is nigh on impossible.

      Same experience with multiple people showing at the inspection(in Perth and again in Cairns, call it the "popup auction" technique.

    The councils and government need to start thinking about ‘out of the box’ solutions to this. Open up Crown land. Allow more Tiny Homes and Multiple Dwelling blocks. Refurbish abandoned buildings. People just want somewhere secure that they’re not gonna get moved on from even if they are in their cars.

    Be a great time to add a couple of small cottages on your property to rent out. We want to come over for 2 or 3 months, but hard to find short term accommodation. I'm not paying air bnb prices but would be ok paying a fair rent whatever that would be.

    I’ve just become a homeowner/mortgage haver after literally decades of renting in SEQ, and have never seen the rental market in the state it’s in right now. I feel lucky that my biggest worry is interest rates.

    Great advice there , I agree with all that , I didn't realise Queensland was hard to find a house , I thought it was just Tasmania that had 1000s living in their cars/vans , maybe the whole country is in the same boat

    Print out and staple to your physical application.
    Utilities bills last 3 month paid on time no delays, phone bill paid on time,
    Rego paid basically all bills.
    Bank statements showing at least $5k savings showing not buying alcohol and other vices.
    Offer to pay 6 months to 12 months up front.
    Physical letters from past real estate agents praising you and bond back receipts.
    Then on top that dont have pets, dont be a single mother
    Dont trun up not looking good and and gave a nice car.
    Never had issues with rentals,
    Same thing I look for in my tenants and many real estate agents have their own red flags

      @@user-wy9lt2yk9k for many real estate its a red flag.
      A hotel just vecause you can provide the money they will give you a room. A rental is different you will be judged on wverything so its not just if you can afford the place.
      There is one real estate agent I do work for they dont rent to white people, africans or aboriginals thats their policy.
      As for single females the red flag is that their will be new suitors trying to get in, past abusive partners and a range of other things that they make assumptions on.
      When your judging people many times it will be wrong but thats what happens.
      You will be judged up and down on everything.

      Oh because discrimination is suppose to be against the law 🤣🤣🤣 thats how it goes people will always be judged if you put yourself up to be judged.
      But a house outright dont need to be judged. Build your own business work really hard at it dont rely on someone else to give it to you.

    • @julzhunt7790
      @julzhunt7790 Год назад

      @@OgglyGoogly no, not because discrimination is against the law. For me, I actually have a conscience I don’t discriminate just because of someone’s colour or judge them because they are single mothers. I prefer to sleep at night, not take advantage of other people.

    And none of this is true. What is really happening is that properties are going for such ridiculously high prices and rents are so high that we have a huge amount of empty properties artificially creating this rental shortage. It has nothing at all to do with construction not keeping up with demand and all to do with our huge homeless population.

    • @julzhunt7790
      @julzhunt7790 Год назад

      Rubbish. Builders are going under. There’s no Tradies to build houses. No skilled workers. There are NOT a whole ton of vacant houses. However there are a lot of abandoned houses.

    so your advice is to Get Out Your WALLET. Perhaps some federal level laws against turning away the first come first served (with the money advertised), similar to the US laws to protect the renter from the greedy rentors. Your advice is naive at the least. I have spent the last year and a half trying to relocate to Australia but apparently don't present well. Get out my wallet? have spent us$20K on air fares, Hostels and Quarantine accommodations only to be knocked back repeatedly. "Bloody Migrant" treatment??? Have been Australian citizen since 1993. Don't get me wrong I love Australia/Australians but the current wave of obscenely greedy business is the cause of inflation. 😢 edit Sorry not a personal attack, you struck a nerve, , , , , , Mia copa

      The current situation is sh**, we get it. We were certainly not suggesting that anyone pay more than the advertised rent. Not taken personally, we understand that this situation would be frustrating, and wish you the best of luck in your relocation.
