@@MandoMikeLessons question… is there anything wrong with using my index nail to play these rhythms to accompany? Thanks so much!

Another great lesson! So helpful!! I want to accompany singers at the church Christmas party this year and had no idea how to do it on mandolin. Now you've given me a place to start. Thanks

Thanks Mike, you have given me 5 wonderful mandolin strums. As a guitarist and ukulele player I have struggled with finding the best way to strum the mandolin without catching the E string and getting discordant noise. So I have been limiting myself to playing the basic strum "bass-Down". Please keep it up, and give us more magical strums along the way.

Thanks very much for this. This is a hugely important part of mandolin playing seemingly not often discussed in instruction videos. My singer guitarist partner is often telling me the chop is not giving him enough chordal information when he sings and when he is playing lead etc. And yes mandolin gets in the way of the guitar too in other circumstances. Anyway, a very interesting and very useful video for mandolin players and very good of Mike to bring it up. Brilliant!

OMG I am an advanced guitar player for years but how different mandolin strumming is. Thank you very much. This video is v02 of my mandolin playing.

Mike--thank you. In terms of accompanying a singer (myself) while leading a song with others, I have a terrible habit of drifting off the 2/4 emphasis into the 1/3 emphasis, which throws the whole ensemble off. Any advice as to how to always be CERTAIN where the 2 & 4 fall in a vocal? I understand this may not be a quick fix, (Note--the other players are quiet guitarist, so i can depend on them.)
