Yeah the 3 series is better to drive but there are times where you need the utility or like in my case, higher height allowing an elderly parent to enter and exit.
My ex wife had an 06 exactly like this one, the engines are reliable but they are known for having coolant issues which was a never ending problem for ours. No matter what you replaced it would eventually start leaking again
I believe it, one cane to the shop about a month ago with coolant issues. Otherwise they're hardly in the shop believe it or not. I'm mostly seeing the newer BMWs. I think I drove one of these and it's alright.
@bricegraham8256 yea idk if it's just mine or most I've had driveshaft issue violent shaking and it's near impossible to find a new driveshaft had to buy a used one and it's still shaking not terribly but still shaking idk strange

@@TheSpaceghost69 in my x3 i use my power mirror rocker (driver or passenger) to turn it on or off. If its placed on passenger position its off, if its placed on drivers position then its on. Dont see a reason to double the command
That is correct, and you can turn it off just if you disconnect actuator motor or take out fuse from glovebox. Sdrive version was just newer models with low power engines.
I still have my 06 six speed. Mine was a dealer car with 5k on it end of the model year. I drove it from NY to CA in 2020 with 46k. I now have 64k and no major issues like oil or coolant leaks. The only thing that broke down in NY was the window washer motor. That was a bit pricy. In CA was a rear window regulator. Both were due to non use. The only upgrade was swapping out my four spoke heated steering wheel for a three spoke one. I love it and keeping it as long as possible.
THE BUTTON WITH THE EYE BALL SHOULD BE A MIRROR DIMMER. My X3 auto dims when hit with bright lights that might be the switch to manually turn it off and on!
The first gen was ugly imo. I don’t think it was until the second generation that I liked the design of the X3. It improved a lot with the second generation inside & out. Take the damn thing out of DRIVE mode and into SPORT or MANUAL, and have your face removed, it's as fast as any v8 I've ever had, no one can even believe what it does, It leaves everything in the dust.
@Rylin Michelle Gough It won't mess up your transmission honey, whats your milage? if you have 200k yeah manual mode will not be good, but even at 130k you could still use it. Have your X3 heavily inspected . Do you have a 2007?
@Rylin Michelle Gough Um...WOW, you are a BMW freak like me huh??? I just got my 2007 x3, had a 2005 for ten years. My 2007 has 89k and is mint, a lucky find, also has every option except 18 inch wheels, running boards and sat nav, its light silver on black. It's a very very thirsty car ,i just took mine to a yard to be sold after two years of ownership,it was averaging 6kms per litre,if i did not have other economical cars it would have made me bankrupt only those with a petrol well should buy this, the performance was not great either
lol I’ve had mine for too many years to count. She gets great gas mileage. I love her so much. She sleeps in the garage at night and is safe and happy! Sorry yours was depressed 🥲
I remember when the X3 was released Top Gear hated them and said to buy a 3 Series instead. Now I see far more new BMW SAVs around than new sedans.
And yet the 3-series is still a better personal vehicle
@@ImmortanDan not to mention that the x3 is butt ugly.

The fact the 1st Gen X3 lasted until 2010. Car was a TRIP. E46 radio, 1st Gen i-Drive, and turn-key ignition till 2011 when the 2nd Gen came out.

The mirror icon is for auto dimming side mirrors, I believe.

that dash button of the eye ball on a mirror is likely for an automatic rear view mirror dimmer. My mothers 2013 GMC Acadia has one of those
That particular X3 is actually Rear Wheel Drive! The RWD models were named "sdrive" and AWD models named "Xdrive"
NOPE, it's all wheel drive, you can turn it off if you want.
not at all all x3s came standard with AWD
All e83 X3s in the US were all wheel drive.

Blind spot detection system for that mystery button
I really hate the gauges in this. I think that the BMW E46, E53, and E36 gauges look a lot better.
