Française née en 58 et fan absolue . L’acteur est merveilleux , l’homme l’est plus encore . Toutes les interviews sont révélatrices de sa puissante personnalité J’adore ❤ ❤❤
I loved this guy. I did my first feature ("Going Home") with him, right out of the Neighborhood Playhouse in 1971. He was truly an original, one of a kind. He took a fledgling 'actor' under his wing and helped on his way. He was just that kind of guy. Thanks for saving these interviews of an old friend and mentor. €8-.D
+david patrick wilson Wow, David! Thanks for sharing your story. We shot this interview for Janet Leigh's 1996 Intimate Portrait- he only consented to it because she asked him... ruclips.net/video/EDXmgg_XhBI/видео.html Best Wishes, Luke Sacher (shooter of this interview and Abner Biberman's grandson)
Just saw "The Grass Is Greener" and loved it! He was much more versatile than most people think (at least here in Europe), wasn't he? Lucky you! That you were able to meet him and hear this very unique voice live...
Yes, he was a more versatile actor than his appearance. Look at him in Ryan's daughter for instance, then compare that to Max Cady in Cape Fear. Charles Laughton said he would have made a terrific King Lear.
Robert Mitchum was one of those people who are so confident they are able to be themselves without having to create any false persona, you got what you saw. My favourite performance is "Cady" from Cape Fear, his presence is threatening throughout and the final scenes are cinema at its superb best. He puts the so-called macho actors today in the shade. Thank you for posting.
If I were the interviewer, I would've completely lost it when he said he had to work on the cheapo films where the sets were lit by cigarettes because all the bigger budget films with bigger stars had all the lamps, LMAO ROFL! I don't think I would've been able to continue, hahaha... LOVE his dry sense of humor... interesting guy :)
Hey Mitchum fans: Read the Mitchum biography "Baby I Don't Care" by Lee Server. A fascinating read! You'll find out that Mitchum's life was even more adventurous and interesting than many of his films.
"You committed sucide" "About time" lol I also laughed at the line about Garson looking a rich nurse, even if he was only reporting it. I also saw an interview, where he said something like, that he gave up worrying about acting, when he saw Greer Garson take a hundred takes to say "no". That was the film "Desire me" of which he said of the film "Nobody desired anybody. Yep, I read the Server book years ago. A very good read.
It's funny seeing the wheels spin in his head. He was a guy who came in, did a job, and left. Yeah, sure, he was good at it, but he doesn't particularly want to dissect the way he did things. You can tell he's humoring her with his answers.
If I was the interviewer, I would of gotten him to talk more. I wouldn’t be talking about his acting career. This man didn’t like talking about that. He looked on it as a job. He went in to work and did his job, then went home. Simple as that.
Well thanks very much! We tried our best- he wouldn't ask the gardeners to stop working. "It's their job, dear." I think he says that in the interview? Inthe end, we only used a tiny piece of the interview in the Janet Leigh bio- you can see it here on our channel- title is: Janet Leigh... A Life in Hollywood Hope you like it if you decide to watch it. Regards- Luke Sacher
Yes, he didn't take himself too seriously, Mr. Cool. :-) Thank you for your recommendations, as I'm still discovering classics! Do you think a girl (me) would like these two movies, too? :-) I will also have a look at the books mentioned below. Always want to watch and read everything at once...! :-)
RoaroftheTiger Mitch's favorite leading lady... :) He says so somewhere in the interview... she was about as special and beautiful as any woman ever was... "Black Narcissus"! thanks for tuning in and leaving such kind comments! Luke Sacher (videographer of this interview)
I'm what I consider, not old at 51, but I find people in general don't understand the movies that were made before their time and won't allow themselves to watch what they consider old movies, especially if they are b/w. These people think today's movies are good if you can believe that.
Mitchum's joke of "she looked like a very rich nurse" fell flat. Funny. It was probably funny when he heard it. Great interview. Great actor and seemingly a really down-to-earth guy despite the fame. No doubt he never posted a profile picture of himself on his Facebook/Tweeter account.
You'll love this movie if you've never seen it- Mitch as Philip Marlowe in the remake of "Farewell, My Lovely"... :) ruclips.net/video/s7tfQVsxC3Y/видео.html
Part of Robert Mitchum's enormous appeal for me apart from his handsome face and that signature walk of his, was the fact that he had such a natural down to earth personality.
+Malcolm Lowe It's raw footage, and we only uploaded Mitch's boom mike- also, he wouldn't tell the gardeners to stop working! :) Here's what we shot the interview for... Janet's biography for Lifetime TV: ruclips.net/video/EDXmgg_XhBI/видео.html Luke Sacher
But when the camera wasn't rolling, Robert Osborne said he was wonderful, chatty, and humorous. He was probably just tired of people having to capture his every word on camera.
I couldn't agree wit you more. Although I really enjoy the remake, you just can't beat Mitchum's performance. That is one of my favorite movies with the eerie Hermann music score and all.
Today's movies are great. Don't fall into trap of thinking everything in the past was better than today, nor that today's kids don't appreciate the past. They do.
The audio improves at the end of the second or start of the third part, after the gardeners stop working- he wouldn't tell them to stop- "That's their job, dear", he says on camera. Cool guy to the end- he was still smoking Pall Mall unfiltered reds when we shot this- he was obviously very sick by then. We shot this interview for our 1996 Intimate Portrait of Janet, who was a dear friend. Mitch only consented to the interview because it was for her. :) Here's a link to the finished program: ruclips.net/video/EDXmgg_XhBI/видео.html
He was my grandfather's cousin. Looking at him makes me miss my grandfather.

Amazingly sharp mind and memory!! Fantastic voice still, very very masculine riveting actor 😍
Very kind of you- thanks

I can’t hear the interviewers questions. Nice to hear Mr. Mitchum’s voice! RIP
Sorry about that- we uploaded this interview so long ago- and only with Mitch's boom mike channel.
@@soapbxprod I'd offer to take a look at the audio and re cut it for free. Modern software could clean some of this up

There are no Macho Actors today, maybe a few macho movie stars but they aren't actors.
Bob Mitchum, great person, and mums favourite.
Robert you will forever be remembered and thats what you deserve...legend

THE SOUND IS SO BAD ON THIS YOU CAN HARDLY HEAR THE QUESTIONS!
Is it me because I am over 50 that I can't hear the interviewer....!
loved all the answers, wish I could here the questions..enjoyed it though...

I need to find the soundtrack to that. I love 'The Man Who New Too Much" soundtrack as well. I can't get over the fact that he composed Taxi Driver.
my favorite movie of mitchum is heaven knows mr Allison
That's a god choice! :) Thanks for tuning in, we do appreciate it.

Favourite Mitchum movie "The Sundowners"
Please give me to listen his voice PLEASE
He was a machinist. It was some type of lathe that made big gears for presses.
People use to think my Dad was Robert Mitchum. He's in the picture to the left. Can't really see him though.
Soapbxprod provides amazing videos. Bless.
+t18amgr Thanks a million for tuning in and writing such kind words- we should have a few new uploads in the next week... ;)
Beauty. I like the Roddy Mcdowall and Hope Lange ones et al too. Bless.
I like Mitchum, but couldn't they have silenced that front-end loader in the background
wish you had mic'd Carole.
untouchable...

Are you Luke Sacher or Carole Langer?
What were his thoughts on John Wayne
Mitchum was a true maverick and very self-effacing, ... and dangerous.
+Len Hummel Thanks for tuning in and commenting.
"Two For The Seesaw"...oh dear!
redo audio

İN LİGHT SLEEP ROBERT MİTCHUM...
Compare this man to today's blubbering cossetted brats. Depp, hairless, slight, trying to carry the role of a real man, John Dillinger.
Who on earth is the interviewer?
I was taught that if you couldn't say something nice, say nothing at all. This interviewer.........now would be the time.
Robert Osborne once said about mitchum that he was the worst person he ever interview
+Nicholas Tinsman Thanks for tuning in and commenting- Larry King and even Lillian Burns Sidney said the same thing about Mitch...
But when the camera wasn't rolling, Robert Osborne said he was wonderful, chatty, and humorous. He was probably just tired of people having to capture his every word on camera.

This is just awful - can’t hear the interviewer at all Mr Cool - aka - Robert Mitchum is great
Frustrating: interviewer talks a lot. She’s not miked!
