Mitch was in good form at the time. One of the all time greats of American male acting, too, in my opinion.

What a personality. He is really enjoying himself and Cavett has the sense to shut up and let him talk. Mitch was great. Miss him.

Couple of 'Class Acts'...sitting here. Wow. Lovely. Light years...from the 'shock-rubbish-trash' TV and low class/IQ' entertainment which fills our screens today......

Nobody remembers that Robert Mitchum had a small role in a Laurel and Hardy movie...he played for a ganster in "The dancing masters"

6:12 And he said: "I'm not done".
    And I said: "you're done".
    And he was done.

Funny line by Cavett: “You don’t recognize me, do you Mr. Mitchum?”
Unfortunately for Mitchum the drinking eventually did catch up with him, as did the smoking.

The control he has over himself, high threshold for alcohol, he's drank like a fish before coming onto the show, but seems so normal, anybody else inhis place would be all over the place making a joke of himself

Thank you very very much for this interview, babyidontcare23. I appreciate it, like many other people! You dont happen to have the legendary Larry King interview.

@BlackenedForLife Unfortunately no. There's also a very rare MSNBC interview that I'd love to find.

Robert Mitchum was one good actor.
That was underrated!!! Alot of people , didn't know. Me included.
That when they were casting 4,the
Part in from here from eternity.
The one of the tough sergeant,
The part they findly gave too
    Bert Lancaster. They thought,
Also,of Robert Mitchum 4 that part.
Alot people, he would great in that
Part. But at the time, he was under,
    Contract, too, Howard Hughes. Hughes
Wouldn't let him try out 4 the part!
Lancaster, did a good job. I, think,
Mitchum would, ve been as good
    Or better!
