My wishful thinking for ETH to finish top 3 next season: Get rid of AWB, Maguire, Jones, Shaw, Matic, McTominay, Mata, Pogba,Lingard, Rashford, CR7, Cavani, Martial.......Get:Lamptey, KALIDOU KOULIBALY KK26, Brandon Williams, Tchoumeni, Neves, Christian Eriksen, Ivan Toney, Nkunku & Raphinha. This being a world cup year it's the best time to chase these overpaid, lazy mercenaries by telling them ''you are in my plans'' they will not risk sitting on the bench or missing out on their national teams

on serious note, think it was his height and his game and how isolated he could be in games. he gets the ball and lays it off and only comes alive in the box with sharp movement, so basically you’re building up the play with 10 men. with the lack of top striker right now he would have made his way to top clubs right now. still had a very respectable career

What a lovely bloke. Dedicated to the game and trying to emulate the best strikers, watching and learning. I don't get the impression there's anyone with that attitude like him at United today. There's something fundamentally wrong with young professionals today. His attitude, determination to succeed and humility. So in contrast to the lazy, self-entitled prima-donnas filling the dressing room at Old Trafford. I've loved United all my long life. The mard-arsed attitude of our players today and the vampire owners makes me want to walk away from my beloved club. Even in the dark pre-Fergie days, I never once felt like this.

I could see him having an elite future as a technical coach who helps attackers with finishing and movement in the box. I could see him working at some of the best clubs in the world as part of a coaching team, just thinking about what he could get out of some of the current young number 9s is scary. I even feel like players like Haaland and Mbappe could learn a lot and improve under guidance and coaching from Defoe.

Absolutely love Defoe. One of my favourite players of all time. I wished you asked him about mls and missing 2014 world cup as me personally would have taken him. Cold finisher like rio said sharpshooter and seems like a nice guy too.

This is the best channel for information and bridging the football Generations together! I remember you from leyton square days Rio and Anton. Have you heard of my bro Tyreece Campbell at Charlton? If you have time can you talk to him, he is a good humble young man who loves to learn.

Thank you for this one, Rio.
As a Spurs fan, absolutely respected JD. A true PREDATOR!
Deadly striker, and always magnetic and engaging in person.
That 2010 WC: Capello wasn't playing him much, the team needed a spark badly, playing really poorly under Capello, then JD came on against Slovenia and banged a volley in hard to get the win and his World Cup goal to go into the next round. Loved that for him.
That, and the hattrick against Bulgaria right after the WC, showed Capello was silly to not give him more time on the pitch.
At Spurs: One of the most craziest things about his career is how JD (bravely, and to his own detriment cos he was getting playing more with Ade in the reserves) spoke up for Adebayo when AVB was isolating Ade from the team for wearing a hat.
AVB (petty little man) then benched JD and it led to our boy ultimately deciding to leave for Toronto FC. Ridiculous.
I wish it had been exposed a bit more in this interview. He was back in the Prem in a year, banging in more goals...
All the best to the man JD-trouble.

To have an absolute legend like Jermain Defoe to come and play at Ibrox was unreal, yes it was at the back end of his career but the guy scored goals with an ease like IV never seen, just looked so easy for him to get a goal from nothing, and to see him in that blue strip was an honour, #55 , 🙏🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧

Think strikers back in the day are completely different than today. The game has totally changed. Gone is the threat of 2 forwards from a 4-4-2 formation.

@@CheekySport will definitely check it out! Keep up the good work! A great perspective would be players that should have had better careers but for injury like Ledley King, Wilshere or Woodgate? An interesting one also would be players that know they didn't reach their levels. They had great careers but know they could have gone on to superior levels. Anderson, Van de Vaart, Gio dos santos, Taarabt spring to mind?

By far the most underrated English player of his generation. If he had gone to Manchester United at the early part of his career he would of broke all goal scoring records at United. Also what a generally nice person he seems. I have yet to listen to a full episode of one of the these but this one kept me hooked from start to finish. Top man JD & enjoy your retirement.
