One of the things I liked the most about the Showa Era is how the Kaiju had clear and easy to understand personalities and alignments.

The image I think of is the three of them together in a human style , King Ghidorah sitting on a throne regal with Mechagodzilla on his left and Gigan on his right, both are wearing suits akin to Vincent and Jules from Pulp fiction, but Gigan’s is unkempt while Mechagodzilla’s is nice and tidy, while both Ghidorah and Gigan are smirking with Gigan making a slicing motion across his neck, Mechagodzilla is stoically checking his various weapons

The scene where Mechagodzilla shoots King Caesar and Godzilla at the same time never fails to melt my face.

That and the scene where MechaGodzilla just relentlessly unloads a barrage of lasers and missiles on Godzilla is one of the most badass scenes of the entire showa era.
@@micahrutland991The fact that the scenes lasts for more than a minute is both comical and absolutely awesome. Both monsters are utterly helpless against Mecha G's full arsenal and the effects at work are beautiful.

You have to have an incredible amount of confidence to have your main villains theme be swing jazz, and it absolutely works because they're so confident in it.
This is my absolute favorite Godzilla nemesis. Just the fact that he's a robot automatically makes him badass. If they do make another Godzilla movie I really hope they add Mechagodzilla

I just love this guy, the design, the story, the movies, the powers, the personality, the theme, it's so great !
You guys should do a sort of 'in universe' documentary about Monarch. Like....in the same way the History Channel or something might do a special on conspiracy theorists or the Free Masons or something.
Sort of a faux documentary style 'in universe' video essay/examination of the secret history of monsters and all of the many cover ups and etc the Monarch corporation has been behind over the years. It would be very cool as a build up to King of the Monsters.
Sort of have the narrator take the perspective of a journalist/conspiracy theorist within the MonsterVerse. Post G14....everyone knows Godzilla and the Mutos are real, and saw them.....but the world doesn't know about all of the ways the existence of monsters has been covered up for decades. 'A Timeline of Monarchs lies and cover ups' kind of thing would be SO FREAKING COOL and you folks might be exactly the type of people to do it. There is a ton of viral marketing to pull from.

Mechagodzilla 1974 .
Of all the Mechagodzillas, I think the Showa's the most dangerous. Bristling with deadly missiles and lasers and capable of flight without requiring additional flight packs or assistance, but also easily the most capable hand to hand fighter of them all. Whereas the other Mecha-Gs had human pilots and were altruistic in purpose and function, the Showa Mechagodzilla is evil to the core and merciless.

No wait, casual Godzilla fan I may be, I have seen this in other fandoms where fans might prefer later interpretations of a character to the original. So I get it...
Accept no substitutes. OG MG is by far the best.
You forget just how OP this Mecha G is with its huge amount of weapons. The second Mecha G is essentially a mobile suit lacking expression. Kiryu is quite frankly the sentimental favorite because of its interesting concept and story arc. And the Legendary Mecha G is an intriguing yet at times polarizing departure from the standard norm with little screen time to properly digest.

In Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla, the chunk of Space Titanium found after the Anguiras fight is rainbow colored, a holdover from when they thought the suit would be rainbow colored. I always attributed it to the chunk being what Space Titanium looked like before being smelted and shaped to make the robot's armor.

Well they did something similar to Kiryu but instead of Dagon, they used Ghidorah’s skull (specifically the left head).

Fun fact, he's rays have some colors replaced or outright removed in Terror of Mechagodzilla.

Mechagodzilla is a great foe for Godzilla because he is designed in Godzilla's image, Mechnikong was a cool robotic double of King Kong, but it was reduced to scrap metal at the end of King Kong Escapes and for Mechagodzilla he shattered into pieces at the end of Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 1974.
My favorite Toho Kaiju other than the Big G, Anguirus. Thanks for analyzing one of Godzilla's most powerful enemies.

Please do Heisei Mechagodzilla soon. He is my favorite and in my opinion BY FAR the most powerful Mechagodzilla. He was literally standing over a defenseless Godzilla blasting him to death at one point. Only because of Rodan did Godzilla live. Oh and he has the best Mechagodzilla theme music as well. lol.
