Richemont has a lot of watch brands I never heard of. I think most people who know about watches know about JLC and VC as well as a few others. I just hope the new management does not screw up like the new CEOS of GM and FORD.
I used to want a BB, but the more they pump out derivatives, the less appealing any of them become to me. At that price point, it's not even the best "diver" in Tudor's catalog. Far be it from me to second-guess Richemont...
I wouldn't categorize this as a "massive shakeup.' People who have been in large corporations with several subsidiaries or units would understand that. This typically happens when you have one person leave for whatever reason they use it as an opportunity to do a carousel of leadership change. Someone who was in apparel goes and does watches. Someone in watches does handbags or something or other. They "expose" those people at the top to different areas to see who does well to groom them for even higher levels of leadership. Now that new person may take some of their own people that they trust but again, thats normal. A CEO removing the CFO, COO and several other layers of management is a shakeup.
Interesting times. But Swatch and Richemont are quite different. Richemont is a holding company of fairly independent luxury brands (like LVMH). The brands have a shared direction and crossover trends (larger sizes, detachable bracelets) but little integration. Their leadership teams are a merry-go-round of Euro elites who stay in group. Swatch is an integrated manufacturing group, more like Volkswagen (VW, Porsche, Audi, Seat, Skoda etc), who use integrated manufacture to position strictly tiered brands, largely run by family. The structures produce very different product: Richemont is luxury first, Swatch is manufacturing first. Change at JLC is needed - their CEOs been their five minutes and sales are poor - KR is a jewellery boss by trade, so VC&A is right for her, but let's hope a serious watchmaker replaces her.
Rolex gets to keep the Submariner name; little brother gets the black bay name. branding at its best. I do have a Tudor Submariner 36 mm. Tudor needs to branch out with another name, everything is a black bay. Richemont is doing the shake and bake with the executives, things will workout in the end. take care of that leg, OH great Teller of Time.
The amount of force necessary to break/crack a well made ceramic case would also do significant and costly damage to a stainless steel watch. Feel free to run a test.
They are probably the most prestigious group. They are the only group who owns a holy Trinity brand and they owN JLC and Lange
And part own Rubber B who are To55ers 😂

That Black Bay looks like it's been made for a police union. Thin Blue Line.
Yep a thin blue line keeping the black side of the strap from killing the other black side of the strap. Art imitates life after all
I hope your leg is doing better 👍🏻

Succession planning isn’t scrambling, imo.

Richemont are dead to me and completely agree on ceramic watches ; )
That Tudor is Fugly! Hahaha
Tudor keep releasing Pigs these days IMO.
Please. No more gimmik watches form manufacturers. Baloons, cartoon characters, funky materials. Just quality traditional horology.
IDC as long as Chris Grainger Herr stays put at IWC.
Still look homeless 😢
Lots of rumours is going to merge with LVMH.
Might run into anti trust/anti competitive issues.
