This is my favorite match. In AoE 1, having a score near to 2000 is meaning of an excelent player.
I like a lot the begining for listening a total chaos of ships and archers attacking and the screams of death xD.

Barely 1 minute into the game and they're already up in your face.
Just the idea of trying to fight everyone at the same is something that most players can't even begin to fathom.

No walls nor towers, no military variety and slow villagers, i dont think it is possible.

if you wanna see some REAL Age of Empires skills, I have started making videos recently. I have a shit laptop that wouldn't screen capture the game properly, so it is just me recording my laptop with my phone hahah, but you can see and hear everything anyway. I have been doing 7 VS 1 random maps on hard (highland, that's all that I play hahah), since hardest is fucking ridiculous since they can basically cheat hahah. Yesterday I did what I think is the hardest possible 7 VS 1, using Persian. Tomorrow I am going to attempt what I think is the most do-able possible 7 VS 1 on hardest, Assyrian VS 7 Persians.

@Joe Ayers but anyway, to stay on topic, I manned up and started playing against hardest. I managed to win 7 VS 1 hardest with almost all default settings (so yes, from a stone age start), but I did it on conquest after I got really fucked over by a wonder surrounded by water and forests and priests hahah

there are 3 videos. They all have one-two moments that make game simplier against 7 hardest AIs
The real challenge with minoan is to get into iron age with critical archer and infantry mass. Once in aron age, minoan are just unstoppable (Until gold lasts of course).

Is the pop counter a mod, or is it a setting I just never found?
Speaking of mods, I dig how you changed up the soundtrack. I also swapped the Rise of Rome menu music to the OG for that sweet ｎｏｓｔａｌｇｉａ．

I am more like a AoE2 kind of guy,but i do these settings:Resources are High,Max Population is 200,Map reveal is Normal,Winning condition is standard and civ as random(when ever i get a bad civ i will try to defeat the enemy)

Play versus the civilizations that spam catapults and priests. Those are the true test.
I had an army of cataphracts ravage the whole map uncontested only to get wrecked by this one dude spamming catapults.

I plan to play against 7 randoms with Rome. The only chance here is to set the population limit to 200.

Yeap. But it is difficult to survive in the beginning. When they attack with catapults, armored elephants, choson swordsmen and more and more and more. I have just recorded a vid and only third attempt was successful. I will upload it in a month from now.

It looks like the all computer players was allies with themselves against blue.
It happens a lot when the difficulty level is high.
thats why it called 1VS7, not 1VS1VS1VS1VS1VS1VS1.

How does this guy queue up multiple units to be created? On my version, clicking on "create a villager" replaces the button with a cancel button so you can only queue one at a time.

I feel like its easier to play on a tiny map vs 7.
We need official AOE 1 HD please. In year 2017 please AOE Anniversary HD edition with upgrade AI and multiplayer without bad changes. Bad changes are in unofficial Upatch!

Stop click baiting, actually play vs 7 teamed allies while starting Stone age like the title implies !
Also You play vs 7 on a tiny Map just so the enemy won't be able to properly grow and they run out of supplies

The computers are all alied together, they always do that in hardest and you can see how they all merge their buildings and never attack each other, not mentioning they pay tributes to each other.

It is, the confusion surely comes from the term "Random" in aoe 1 it is used to call the normal matches, being the other kind the deathmatches.
Random map not necesarily means the "Random map" setting which i think in AoE 1 is not available anywyas.
On the other hand the map size makes it so weird; "Tiny".
It is a random map even if you dont like.

I bought... and then deleted the shitty "Definitive Edition" from Microsoft Store.. Game is totally broken and unplayable and it's a huge disappointment from all the months of hype that I followed from the dev team prior to release. AOE II (on STEAM) is the only AOE that I play.
@M Goulet I can't speak for Geo but the only thing you'll notice better than the version of this video is the graphics. The mechanics are still the same where units kind of go all over, they don't go in formations which for me has been the most frustrating part.
M Goulet I liked it a lot actually. They got rid of the pop cap of 50, made it to where you can walk through farms, and there are some other QoL upgrades but it is mostly still the same in a lot of ways.
