Shame that Steve Park lead the most laps in this race. He had a good fast car. And Jeff Gordon was looking great too, until his engine expired. Plus, Ricky Rudd did a great job in his 700th Cup series start with a top 10 finish. And the 1st win for Dale Jarrett with UPS. "What can brown do for you?" 🏁
The 2001 NASCAR season was a great season until the death of my hero the man,the ledgend Dale Earnhardt Sr. 😢I still love watching nascar and rooting for the new younger drivers.
the Monte Carlo at this time looked much more like a car you would see on the street everyday to me it looked like a real race car and a real street car at the same time.
I'm so glad this track has 2 dates again about 15 years after it looked this this track was gonna get axed, a fan favorite producing some of the best racing out there. Would've been a damn shame if nascar got rid of Darlington.
Yeah they don't. But then again, like 2 guys fail to qualify these days so no real need for a graphic. I remember when 8+ guys used to fail to qualify.
Not DNQs. Qualifying for this race was postponed due to fog. Part of the reason that NASCAR eventually moved qualifying to the afternoon of Truck Series race days instead of mornings before then-Busch Series races.

FOX's starting grids were so awesome back in the day.
I miss DJ, Rusty, Rudd, Sterling, and Terry. They were fun drivers to watch.
Not to mention ken schrader, Jeff and Ward Burton, and Richard petty
Jeff Gordon
The intro alone... I could watch that every day.
Safe to say, the early years of _NASCAR on Fox_ were right up there with _Braceface_ and _Power Rangers_

If you have a long run car you don't have the short run car.
The coverage back then was the absolute best
I still miss Dale Earnhardt Sr.
We all do my friend
NASCAR just ain't the same anymore:( but I still get pumped no matter what can't wait for the shootout
So cool hearing Kevin talk about Papyrus and NASCAR 4 all the way back in 2001
I miss these old NASCAR on Fox intros
I live 45 min from Darlington, and that was the first year my parents went. I went the next year for the first time, and been going every year since.
In 2020 after 15+ years the 400 mile race is back.
For the 2021 season it's now permanent replacing Chicago.
COVID gave us one good thing but at Chicagoland’s expense is a little upsetting.
R.i.p Steve Byrnes
I like how in the pre-race, Harvick's talking about helping the guys at Papyrus, talking about NASCAR Racing 4

Starting Grid Intro was completely badass. FOX really tried back then.

I miss waltrip, dale jr,park, marlin they were fun drivers to watch
You kept 1 commercial. Not complaining, that’s a good commercial.
Thank you for this. :)

I can recall a Daytona 500 when like 10+ cars failed to qualify
Cory Gibson 2004 qualifying at Atlanta had 15+.
1994 Brickyard 400 Unbelievable
As of 2021, Harvick and Kurt Busch are all that is left... am I missing anyone?
Just Harvick now
@@Weezy10580 And after this year, there will be no one left.

Still in the booth, with MJ up there too still
Good race to watch thanks
(dmetl) #304 - one of the rare races to see Gordon's engine blow up
(dmetl) #31 - Rudd drivez in hiz 700th career start
... classic
(dmetl) #32 - 700 entries iz nearly unattainable ... Rudd becomez only the 5th driver to reach the mark in this superb classic
(dmetl) #303 - published on the net in 2011 , this race must have been one of the first races to ever been seen on the net
Failed to qualify: Rick Mast (#50), Dave Marcis (#71), Andy Houston (#96)

Can we get back to this nascar please🙏
SKRacing has now posted that race.

To add to that, is it just me or do they NEVER show the DNQ list after the starting grid anymore?
No-one DNQ’s anymore except for the Daytona 500.

Greatest Man That Ever Lived I think 50 times.
800 hp times 43 cars is 34,400hp
About half that today...pathetic
(dmetl) #305 - let us not forget Nascar drivers n pitmea must also be endowed with skill n concentration
6:49-7:30. Blame Harvick for the simulator revolution in nascar.
