Sorry to comment twice, Jeff, Hyatt is right next to my work, the Sunnyside Cannabis shop. We had huge business All Out week. Seriously, i can't say enough how cool it was to watch Memphis wrestling with my sister at 3-4-5 am on the 62 Indiana station. Jeff, Conrad, thank you for making an anxious bi polar person confident enough to post this and be happy as heck.
Hey Conrad I think every podcast you should play Simply Irresistible once just mess with Jeff. Love the podcast guy's. I'm curious as to when we'll get some episodes about Memphis wrestling
Well you cant help but respect that. yet let's be honest Owen's family didnt need any of that money 2 bad more couldnt go to others who needed it is all. Either way it came from a great place in his heart. Idk if anyone else would of ever did such a thing
Interesting, AOL/Time-Warner was behind Ready To Rumble, yet, supposedly they didn't want pro wrestling in their portfolio when they acquired Turner Broadcasting.
Time Warner was involved in the film AOL was not in at that point. Been in plenty of corporate mergers and yes you can be going one direction with the company and a merger changes everything. You won't see the changes until all the paper work is finalized and all the new corporate heads are appointed. The death and time frame in which is dies makes complete sense. The deal was finalized on Jan 10, 2000 WCW is dead a year and 3 months later. A year and 3 months earlier they were in the thick of the ratings wars trading weeks with WWF. So clearly it was killed over the higher ups not wanting wrestling period. It's not like they'd been stinking up the ratings from 2008-now like WWE. Ask yourself the obvious, WWF opened up to all bidders back in 2000 as well, if AOL Time Warner just wanted the hottest wrestling show they had the money to get Raw over TNN back then, so why didn't they? I'll tell you why because I was 17 at the time, wrestling had always been seen as low class entertainment. However by 99 it was low class and trashy entertainment. They'd have news specials about how it's bad for the kids, hurts women, and is apart of the moral decay in society. They said the same about South park, Howard Stern, jackass, Britney Spears, and Jerry Springer. Now in 2001 I just assumed WCW was independent of Turner and VKM just flat out bought them out. I didn't realize they were killed from within and they were killed from within because most of the negatives about wrestling being "bad" in 2001 were almost entirely a criticism of WWF. I actually think that's the real reason VKM won't go back to bawdy, ultra violent, shock TV anymore. He knows he really didn't "win" so much as got lucky. Had Turner stayed in SCSA or Rock would have been been bought out and switched to WCW. Smackdown would have had to stay entertaining and there would be no brand split. I was a WWF guy as a teen, I saw WCW as "the old guys" and too tame. Of course 2008 to now, I honestly wish Turner hadn't sold because I think wrestling would have stayed worth watching and I doubt there'd be swaths of Attitude and AE era guys already dead.
I always hate it when fans blame a talent (even David) for getting a title. For example Jinder. That was stupid, but I don't blame Jinder. WTF are they supposed to say, NO?!
This all happened when I was 16. I was a wcw guy, I ate the David Arquette stuff up. Kurt Angle and Jericho were the only things I liked about WWF at the time. I loved Lance Storms run in wcw
It was definitely an underrated and underappreciated moment in WCW history. It was GENIUS booking and storytelling and a brilliant way to promote Ready to Rumble. The ONLY downside was that Arquette wasn't the character from the film. But you HAVE to admire & respect him for not only donating the money but going and actually training and wrestling, even going against Nick Gage in a Death Match.
David arquette won wcw title 20 years ago we still talk..we didn't talk wwe champion for the past 10 years.. No one remember wwe champion for the past 10 year..
Shitstain has been working for WWE/WWF the whole time. I remember when it came out that even when he was in WCW, he still ran all his ideas past McMahon. 🤔
David Arquette is a better wrestler today than he was as WCW Champ. On top of seeming like a decent, nice human being, he has put a lot of work into his wrestling. Also, he was a better WCW Champ than Vince Russo was.
As far as the stylus goes, e original use was for the needle that plays records. It's changed to the electronic style pens for certain touch style electronic devices.
Ready To Rumble is a terrible movie made worse by wrestlers who can't act that being said as a wrestling fan it's cool to see that many wrestlers in one movie
Why does Jeff have a worse memory than new jack ? This guy keeps asking Connor aka Connie about all of the events he should clearly remember ..all I’m saying is that is making this podcast hard to watch ..I’d bet money that jerry Jarrett would be more forthcoming am ready for a podcast sorry guys I been tuned in I’m trying but Jeff to not remember anything like this is really weird!!

I LOVE Sarcastic Double J!!! You can tell he's gotten so much more comfortable doing this and just goes with the flow when Conrad feeds him. Love it!
The Ready To Rumble movie is one of my favorite wrestling movies
Agreed. What would king do
I love that movie
Mental health is always an issue for me. I'm okay, but not amazing. Thank you for this. I really love you guys and David as well.
who can forget deputy Dewey's got a world title run in his resume?
Huge fan of David Arquette..regardless of what anyone’s says one of the greatest guys to get that rub WCW champ
I'm not a "movie guy" either. My favorite all-time movie is the original Bad News Bears. I fell in love with Tatum O'Neil that summer !
What a great movie. Tanner was a bad ass.
Hey Conrad I think every podcast you should play Simply Irresistible once just mess with Jeff. Love the podcast guy's. I'm curious as to when we'll get some episodes about Memphis wrestling
It was the nail in the coffin for WCW.
Arquette donated the money he earned from his wrestling appearances so he got my respect for that
Well you cant help but respect that. yet let's be honest Owen's family didnt need any of that money 2 bad more couldnt go to others who needed it is all. Either way it came from a great place in his heart. Idk if anyone else would of ever did such a thing
Hes got generational fuck you money anyway. Forget it
Bodyslam with Piper was better than both wrestling movies they mentioned

He's Simply Irresistible 🎶 🎶
I love how Jeff doubled down on saying he tried to kill David Arquette for a hot minute🤣🤣
Loved this episode!
Forrest wasn't born into a mortgage company his daddy owned.
Arquette could've been an Andy Kaufman but WCW had no clue. Who would the opponent be?
@Bryan Hacker - Remember Arquette is from Hollywood.
Best part was Bruce doing the Run-in

Body slam starring Roddy Piper is the best wrestling movie of all time

Jarret laughing at the mess of wcw was a highlight lol.
Arquette needs a Mattel Elite

Because WCW is the best

Does Conrad have a ghost? Or is that a fan blowing?
As far as the stylus goes, e original use was for the needle that plays records. It's changed to the electronic style pens for certain touch style electronic devices.
This was a Vince Russo idea, and also don't forget Jeff Jarett hired Vince Russo to work at TNA.
No it was actually tony Schiavone
@@ronnieh9822 yeah Tony mentioned it on his podcast to connie awhile back in a production meeting and next day Russo and uncle Eric put it in the show
AEW was in Rochester this past week and sure enough the crowd felt way more like a WWE crowd. Guess upstate NY really is their territory.
Bruce doesn't have time to hang out at the conradisson
OK video very funny 😂
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Does Conrad donate his money that hes made from the wrestling business?
I've never thought much of JJ but this podcast has made me a JJ fan. I've probably always lumped JJ in with Russo & killing WCW. Not fair to JJ.
Only bound for glory’s shopimpact has are 2017 and 2020.
Where is it
Other than the fact that the worm is the stupidest thing of all time, worse than the people's elbow
