The interesting thing is that the woman who did write it (Holly Knight), is actually singing in the background. She also wrote for many other popular artists like Tina Turner, Heart and Aerosmith.
I remember this being one of everyone's jam's back in the day. I love Rod Stewart, he's a darling. I miss videos and movies like this from the 80's. So simple.

Rod Stewart looks uncomfortable hamming it up in the first half of this video. Not until he grabs the microphone and gets on top of the judge's desk does he seem to loosen up. The video itself is pretty cheesy in general. But I LOVE this song! Always have. So unfairly slammed because it was "too pop" for Rod.
I really like this song, but I remember reading somewhere that Rod was really unhappy with it and only recorded it for the movie. I can't recall if someone could correct me on this. Great song nevertheless.
