Javier gave that horse an excellent ride. Kept him way back during the 22 quarter, steadily moved up and came out and fired right on time.

Great strategy to stay behind, let the other horses tire, and then pull up front, holding, holding, until going nose to nose, and then SPRINTING TO THE WINNING LINE. Wow! Two great hearts working together.

I have been to 3 Kentucky derby’s in my 57 yrs, and everyone was with my Dad, when I lost him in 2014, I still watched faithfully, this year it was kinda hard ti watch without my Pops! Hope he was up there watching for us both! Miss ya Pops

@@perlebabin7115 oh yes, I had my eyes set on him since I saw the program. I had no idea why his odds were 15-1. In his second race he had a bumped start and finished 4th to 3 derby horses, in his third start he was FLYING in the Florida derby and only lost by a length to forte, who would’ve been the favorite (and I still think he could’ve beaten). Along with that, nobody had his speed figured only into their third race of their life. I LOVED that horse. I bet him to win and an exacta that included two Phil’s, I made a lot of money and I loved that horse before and after the race. Thank you for asking

Javier is one of the. Great. Riders in this sport. After his illness he was being left out of some of the more valuable races by Trainers. I never lost confidence and was a winner today, Don’t forget Venezuela has done this before by breeding a winner
3:08 - I'm happy for Team Mage, but I have to say it: I've been watching Triple Crown racing for 60 years and I've never, ever seen a horse with that look in his eye and I've never, ever seen a horse heel over like that. Clearly, there's more here than meets the eye.
Congrats also to Two Phils, Larry Rivelli and Jareth Loveberry. Great trainer, Super ride by Jareth and Phil ran his heart out. Let the big boy rest some and come back for the Belmont.

@@edwinsulzer1683 there wasnt an inquiry because he didnt SLAM him...he moved between two TIRING horses and he bumped into verifying but it was time he could have went flying over the rail....it didnt affect the outcome and wasnt the reason verifying finished dead LAST..the jockey never lodged an objection because he knew it was minor

Great ride, was boxed before the stretch and as soon as he saw the opening went for it
After burners! That horse had a lot in the tank. RIP to all the beautiful animals that passed this week. I like to watch them run but too many die, here in CA at one track they had a spell of losing one it seemed every week for awhile.
That was a couple years ago bt yea we went through it bad over here at Santa Anita glad it’s behind us.

Nice win for JC and Mage . The chart says Angel of Empire at the top of the stretch was 3rd 1 length behind 2 Phil's and Mage , but he couldn't get in gear to pass them seemed very odd to me ?

Forte is obviously the #1 three year old but once he went out Mage was the logical choice, and he proved that. I look forward to their rematch.

Amazing Two Phil's pressed hot fractions and still held on for second. The favorite closed, but not fast enough. Eager to see if the winner can do it again in two weeks.

I'm really glad Mage won, but I think Angel of Empire showed his quality. On the turn, AoE is saving ground in the rail. You can tell he wants to angle out and go around for his move, but Mage is to his outside. He gets stuck beside Mage instead of being able to go to the outside as he wants. Then, AoE has to follow Mage out of the turn as he makes his move. AoE could not surge forward until Mage had moved. But, I think AoE wanted to move earlier and if he had been in better position then I think he might have passed them all. He was still gaining speed at the end, he just started his run too late and ran out of race.
Might be your Belmont Stakes winner, will probably do well at the Preakness though too tbh.

I remember that I was a good Mage at one point, especially with Ancient Magicks. I got my magic to lvl 99 and killed it with full Ahrim. Kit was dope

Beautifully filmed race. The go pros on the track after the finish gave us a view I’ve never seen before. Watching Mage with the horse ridden by the red coat fellow was priceless. “Look what I did!” (Imho.)

Mage had a rather long trip with a lot of traffic to navigate. He had sooo much left on the outside that was fantastic!

I decided to bet on Mage without knowing anything about him previously, and I couldn't even see the race when it was originally on, but since 8 is my favorite number, I went for it. I told my mom that if Mage won, she would owe me a chocolate chip cookie, and I honestly was joking cause I didn't think it would actually happen. But sure enough! Man, I'm so excited! I don't think a horse I've picked has ever won before, until now! Way to go Mage!!
