I really appreciate you saying you can buy products you stock from a Chinese shop for cheaper. That kind of attitude makes me want to shop from rotor riot shop. Super cool of you. ❤️👍
I built 4-5 quads/tricopters from scratch back when the kk2.0 was relevant and the blackout miniH was new. Got frustrated with tuning and repairing and gave up on the hobby for 3-5 years. Then came back past year and bought a vortex230mojo and have been so dang happy with it. I don’t fly aggressive enough to crash very often. But with my scratch built rigs it got to the point that i only ever crashed when electronics failed and not controller error. It is nice to have the reliability of the prebuilt that i wasn’t getting with my build quality
The tech has progressed so much in recent years. I only ever tuned my first one I built in 2017. Now with FlightOne and Beta Flight builds I have only changed my rates. Never felt a need to tune. I know I could but I've never had oscillations or excessive noise that made me feel like I had to tune them out.
That's pretty much my experience as well. KK boards were a nightmare. CC3Ds were such an improvement. I just got into flying multicopters again a few months ago and only started FPV this year with a used pair of Fatsharks. The new tech makes it so easy to build one, but BNFs sometimes are terrific value if you chose right.
Geat Series! Nice you mention cheaper options although its a kind of disadvantage for you guys, this shows how big the passion for a good service is. 🤘
Thanks! I'm really want to get away from proprietary products (ie Batteries, props etc) , I have an Evo II Pro 6k and it really doesn't fill my needs in the RC flying hobby. My first Quad was back around 2011/12 a Gaui-500 with GPS and a return to home; yep big bucks for that early day quad. I've been looking all over for what I call an open frame quads; which now days always seems to be in the form of FPV. Going FPV is fine for the near future, but for starters I'd like to use a NICE monitor for a brief FPV view and enjoy flying and getting comfortable with my drone. Been looking all over, and wham! Rotor Riot is close-by, I'm South of Ocala; I'll have to give Rotor Riot a call to get some suggestions.
Tbh id say start off with a RTF Whoop. When i started, i wanted to start with making my own 3" and 2.5" brushed and they both broke before going fpv. when i did buy a Tiny whoop, iw asnt afraid of breaking it because its pretty light and cheap to replace. After that i made my own 2" then 2.5" then now 3" (got nos pace for a 5") Since then ive been in this hobby with no problem
Thats how i started.. bought a total RTF set from ebay with flysky&eachine wizard :D .. then i replaced the cam with a rotorriot swift... second drone was completely self built with all the help from your&dribs build videos :D .. helped me a lot ^^ ... atm i‘m kinda annoyed by soldering 😂
Awesome video Jeff ... I got started in the hobby by buying one of the original Wizards which is a ready to fly quad and obviously I crashed it and ended up having to fix some things and like you said Jeff the lacking of Quality Parts like the camera was horrible and the ESCs were crap..... which led me to taking it apart and learning how everything works and how everything goes together and after I learn all that and figured betaflight out and understood how our quads are put together I eventually Built My Own quad using what parts at the time were top of the line so in my opinion I would say buy something that's already put together thats Ready To Fly that doesn't kill your wallet so bad so you can reverse-engineer it and understand how it works because it's already put together for you to see that's what helped alot also the rotor Riot Channel and Project Blue Falcon, Joshua Bardwell and uavfutures and lots of other fpv RUclips channels especially my two favorites Mr Steele and my boy drib!!!
Hi chuck, im in the process of getting my first fpv drone. I'm not sure if i want to buy or build it. It would be beneficial to learn how to build so i can fix it but at the same time i want to fly as soon as possible. Any suggestions?
I built my first drone 1 week after starting with a toy grade Syma 5Xc, I had no real idea what to do but had a pc building background so thought what the hell and dove straight in. It took just over an hour but I finally had a 5 inch racing drone itching to fly, and since that point I've built around 15 drones in my 3 years in the hobby and now have a fleet of over 20.lol
I just got a nazgul5 bnf of Banggood. Couldn’t of built it cheaper with the parts it has. £150 shipped. I’m very impressed with it nice soldering and everything works as should.
First off I want to say how much rotor riot and all it’s pilots has inspired me in this hobby!!! Y’all are the best!! I have a serious question though. So I started out with the tiny hawk rtf kit and learned the basics of freestyle fpv. I have progressed quickly after getting the tiny hawk freestyle. I’ve got pretty good ripping in Acro. What would be a good suggestion on the next quad I should get?????
This is an older series but this seems the best place to ask this question. I have just a little experience with drones. I have the DJI Mavic 2 zoom that I've flown for a couple of years doing pet search and rescue and for just recreational.. And I have the DJI FPV that I have maybe ten flights on but none of them manual flight. Too scared to crash since I have crashed it twice now, no damage, in sport mode. I do want to try fpv but as mentioned I do not want to crash the expensive DJI FPV. So, I guess this is a three part question since I know that the answer to one, how do I get better, is for me to just practice first with a simulator. Second question. In October 2022 what is the best simulator for FPV? Third question and really the main question that I have is, since I am scared to crash my DJI FPV, would it be better and cheaper for me to get a lower priced fpv to practice with? I know I will crash as it is part of the whole experience. I will need to buy extra parts and I'm assuming that extra parts for a regular fpv are lower cost than parts to fix the DJI FPV.
Today on "learn with Jeffrey" 😁 this beginners series really reminds me of kid's TV in th 80s. Maybe it's the music 🤔 anyway great series for beginners 👍👍
I just built a marmotte, after buying a wizard, that didn't work, I thought I'd just build one myself lol For anyone curious I used these parts: FRAME Marmotte Frame Foxeer mini monster pro Matek f722-se Spedix gs35a Tmotor F60 pro III Frsky R-XSR AKK X2 ultimate Foxeer short RHCP omni Amass XT60 Johnny Azure Power 4838 BATTERY Tattu Funfly 1550mah 4S 100C GOGGLES Eachine EV800D TRANSMITTER Frsky Taranis QX7 MAIN CAMERA Gopro Hero Session 5
Although if you build one yourself you can get like the entire stack that makes it a lot easier and if your solder skills are not up to snuff forget about it a bnf that cost 300$ plus is a good starting price for a solid quad with good components like the Kopis 2 sweet quad if your new and you build you may get frustrated if you didnt do a ton of research watched a ton of videos on RUclips like Bardwell videos and know how to solder you will get frustrated and a cheap bnf to learn on may be the way to go save the expensive bnf or build for once you know what your doing start with a tinyhawk s or et 115vs to start with
Your first kwad should just fly good ! If you not get addicted with that you'll never go that very long way of learning that many stuff before the 1st enjoyable flight. I've started with a RTF and as soon as i realized what i like i really wanted to build the "right one"! Without the RTF i wouldn't have started building one and wouldn't have known enough without any working example in my hands.
@Ted Ingalls PNP stands for Plug-N-Play. Plug-N-Play products come with everything you need except for a transmitter, receiver battery and charger. It does contain servos, motor and ESC. PNF stands for Plug-N-Fly. Same thing asPNP.
Steve MacDonald FPV Its when people are early to the video. If you see it has no views they will say "First" if it has 4 views they will say "Fifth" its like "Hey i was here early" it makes no sense but people do it... Hope I helped!
I feel like if you're gonna build one yourself when you first get into it, it's because you don't have the money to get a pre built one and you want a decent quad but don't have the money for a BNF or RTF but still want similar quality. When i was first getting into this I ALMOST went to DIY built it yourself just because I knew it had to be cheaper to get the same quality. I had never soldered anythign though so I was like... fuck that... (Turns out I had to learn anyway cuz the receiver that came with it wasn't compatible with my transmitter, AND my ESC broke after like 3 flights cuz I flipped it in the grass and went to disarm, which was right above my throttle and on an upward click so I hit the throttle instead by accident and the motor smoked and 2 ESC's died lol) Although it might not even turn out that way in this particular hobby because it's already VERY fucking expensive.
Personally I am not into the building side of it .I just want to fly😀that's why all my quads are bnf.. yes I have crashed a lot .but usually only have to replace a motor or a arm..I've never spent more than 10 minutes repairing a quad and that's the way I like it..😀
Made an elementary mistake in the first 30 seconds. Closed video and moved on. Why the hell do idiots make videos that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

I also went the semi-PnF version... Bought a complete, used quad without a receiver and learned everything while going along... ,)

There are great BNF out there such as armattan, diatone and emax
Prices have gone up
Which System do you recommend for the DJI FPV System?
Or is there something like a "perfect" Pre-Built System you can use for DJI FPV System?
Can u do some reviews on mobile simulators
instructions unclear, bought a UAV
Its called. Plug and play (pnp)

@Eddy Jin It took me a while to figure out what the hell was going on with these posts because He/she edited to correct the original comment, ha.
Why the fuck don't these appear in my subscriptionbox?
Too much excitement when you speak, I can't handle that much excitement. You should calm down.
That's what happens when you continue to take the pills you got when you were a kid xD
I envy his ability to nap^h^h^hstay calm and mellow on cam.
Hahahaha, soo true!
I forgot I was watching this at double speed and I thought you were being serious.
just speed it up. 1.50x or 1.75x.

Your talking to novice pilots, new to drones, expecting them to know what bind and fly means.
👍🏽
A diy build is more gratifying, but some PNPs are just too damn tempting.
Go to 1.25x speed believe me guys
