As cool as night flying is, notice when Drib is flying and describing his experience saying things like "I can see the clouds," and Bubby is standing next to him saying "really?" It just reminds me that we don't have audience mode.
Speaking of the mounting points on the USB board: Quad pilots aren't the only FPV pilots. On a wing that USB breakout board could mean actually using the feature or not depending on where your VTX fits in the airframe.
I am Proud of you Bubby... Keep up the great work my friend... Drew thanks for being you... I just installed the V2, can't wait to try the night time flying... 👍
Drew, the lens is a circle. More square image will fill the circular field of view better, therefore, you will always get better vertical field of view with 4:3 camera, compared to 16:9. If you put a wider lens and get your "free" updown, you'll start losing the sides to vignetting, effectively turning your image to 4:3
@@Silor I seemed to have read your comment wrong, my bad, I was multitasking at the time. The vignetting really comes down to how the 16:9 is implemented by default, if it's taking the maximum visible square from center and stretching it horizontally or if it's simply taking a 16:9 view from center, it's hard to tell without seeing their reference checks they did to check the vertical view, and then also on how it was output.
@@Silor yeah that was rather incorrect to say that at the same focal length it would reduce horizontal field of view in 4:3 versus 16:9. For the same sensor size it would only be an increase in vertical field of view for the same sensor size. Also there is a reason wider lenses aren’t always better. More distortion and less light transmission will result from a wider angle lens.
I ordered one just now from you guys. 😁 That night demo did it! Perhaps you guys can be nice and give Nick Burns a good discount because he helped sell it too. 😬 Oh.. Bubby... I'm still not a boomer. 😂😂
I agree, I like the 4:3 -- however stating that you get more width on the 16:9 is not accurate because typically the 16:9 simply stretches the sensor data to the edges and cuts the top and bottom -- just what you were seeing. Also, the color and the image quality looked better on the 4:3.
So cool to have all these options for HD these days. I'm on DJI and fly OG cams or Nebula Pros in 4:3 more often than not but I have to admit that I love my Polar Pro camera even though it's 16:9 only. Like Bubby says...the 16:9 doesn't stop me from doing anything I'd do in 4:3.
I love how more than one person can see how your flying wearing there own goggles when there not even flying its like taking your friends on a journey thru your eyes really cool all the perks of FPV
we tried wider lenses on the runcam split og cams, it was one of the best cinematic lenses but there was not the full recapture of fov that 4-3 cams have. it was great for framing and a great final recorded image fov.
So they've introduced starlight cameras into the drone industry. We've had these cameras inn the the security industry for quite awhile now , at least 10 years. This footage reminds me of early starlight footage.
@@grampafpv8013 that's true since O3 has 4K resolution I think. But I would disagree with you on the polar cam. I have a polar cam and I can tell from experience, it is impossible to achieve what Drew and Buddy flew thru.

+1 for the golden ratio, 16:10, to take over. Would absolutely 100% go for the pro model, I am a darkness weenie and couldn't see ANYTHING with the v2 in your video at night.
Night time I go to churches lol they are lit up and no one messes with you. I went to one right outside of Orlando and I saw multiple cars pull in when I was flying. Thought nothing of it and when I left u drove past them and it was three cop cars lol. They must have been watching the whole time lol
the new usb-c dongle is whatever for drones but its great for fixed wing guys who maybe cant get to the vtx in a plane. now just hot glue the type C and plug it in when you want to access
Please do a follow up video about the lens swap. I would love to find that it gives the best of both worlds...full up and down FOV, with added side to side, for free.
The 4:3 sensor on the V2 was meant to be able to process through Gyroflow, to achieve that "fake" superview by stretching the 4:3 image on both sides. Just like what you do with GoPro 4:3 footage.
Interesting, as Sony A7 photographer since it came out, it's very recognizable that this is a sony sensor. The dynamic range on these is pretty big and the noise floor is pretty low. The way the sky is displayed is excatly how I am able to recover it when I edit my Sony raw files. There is def. some post processing going on as you can notice the sky coming in and out depending on what the brigtest lightsource is. Some kind of threshold gets triggered and then it boost up the dark and brings it into the visible range again which blew my mind back when I switched from my Canon 5D MkII. Really smart choise by Walksnail, didn't even know you could get sony sensors with the same capabilites from the Full Frame sensors in a form factor like this. Question is, is it the sensor of the A7 series or the A7s series. But really amazing to see that Sony sensors are a thing because if you'd put a 1" sensor or perhaps a tad bigger one in there with a neat lens... please give us Sony-Raw/Log internal recording!? 95% would never need a go pro on their quad. Plus price it as a VTX+Camera+150€ go pro... offer it for 250€ and it'll sell like hot pretzels.
all this talk about swapping the lens, does Drib no realize that wider lens means more fish eye and distortion? It's not REALLY the same as a 4:3 camera. Just a substitute with more image distortion.
I really enjoyed this video especially the low light section. The reactions when the drip put the goggles on and opened his eyes was freaking hilarious. It's like he saw God lol. So I've been in the DJI ecosystem. I purchased some drones with 03 and converted some to the 03 system. Everyone knows how horrible the '03 camera is in low light. But when you look at some of DJI's camera drones with different cameras and lenses, you're able to get good low light video. There has to be a bunch of people complaining about the low light situation with 03. In anyone's opinion, do you think DJI will listen and offer a camera that will work in low light and the 03? Also, will there come a day when other companies can make cameras that work with the '03 air unit
You can consider the fact that is HD video at night to be next level but foxeer figured it out with the cat and cat2 cameras analog it looks about the same
i feel like 16:9 will always give you better spatial awareness, which is important for not crashing, and 4:3 might be slightly better for learning throttle control. but after you've learned the throttle curve and rates of the drone, you don't really need the vertical positioning as much
As cool as night flying is, notice when Drib is flying and describing his experience saying things like "I can see the clouds," and Bubby is standing next to him saying "really?" It just reminds me that we don't have audience mode.

Very good point it could help a lot for wing mounting
@@RotorRiot Hi, i build custom drones, and for me having a usb board is actualy very nice to instal in a handy place on the drone

Quite incredible to see the stuff on the roof that well. That's basically light reflected from the clouds?

You should try adding a cheap ip camera IR led ring on the drone to check wether the night vision improves.

The image circle might not be big enough on some lenses for the pro camera sensor also you might find the pro lens is a very wide aperture.
Make another version of the Drone !!!

You also can put wider angle on 4:3 so you have more side to side and up and down :-D
