As someone who uses a Fulton Armory M1 Carbine as a GPR with nearly 5 years and thousands of rounds behind it, I can attest to its usability, power and reliability even by modern standards. M1 Carbine's are phenomenal rifles and I cant recommend them enough to new and experienced shooters alike.
Thank you! We are so happy to have reached the 1st milestone in just a little over 2 months!! And you’re welcome I’m always going to do a shout out if another channel inspires my content. I’m dragging out another high value mystery case today from the facility for our (thank you 500) I don’t remember what’s in it but it’s a HUGE pelican case with wheels and everything so watch for our next mystery box episode to drop.
I have multiples of both AR’s and Carbines . Like them both but have more love for the carbines for some reason . Well , light n handy and my dad was in Korea and have pics with him holding one . This deer season I took various rifles just because . I was feeling a little nostalgic and took a Garand one day, M1 Carbine another day . Saw deer but small bucks chasing fast thru brush so held off . Took am AR 10 a couple days ( that thing is heavier than my Garand’s ) no deer those days . Next to last day I took my AR15 built at home in 350 Legend and dropped an 8 pointer . Left my bolt actions home so far this season . Options are good ! Like Hickok 45 says “Life is Good” !
I’m currently the only one on the crew with a .350 legend. It’s a Ruger American but still takes detach mags. I LOVE it! LOOOVE it. Much like you I rarely take the same weapon hunting so it hasn’t had the opportunity to take a deer but I’ve killed a lot of beavers with it. To many. Like it has a perk that spawns beavers when I’m carrying it. I have killed several deer with an M1 carbine however never in a “hunting” capacity. Growing up my brothers, my cousins, and myself really did live in the woods more than we did at home. We carried M1s for a lot of reasons I listed in the episode. During deer season if a deer was unlucky enough to wander within range of us or we jumped some out of a bed they would be instantly gunned down before they could run away. I have no idea whether or not an M1 carbine has the ability to drop a deer with a single shot but they were NEVER able to outrun the tremendous amount of fire from our M1s. They kept our families freezers full of food and that was all that mattered at the time. This was back when Walmart kept Remington 110gr soft points stocked and you could buy a brick of Remington.22 golden bullets for $7.
M1 Carbine Vs AR15 Predator defense Which would you choose? We were using lake city 5.56nato and San Cristobal .30 carbine from Royal Tiger Imports Actually by definition an M4 by barrel length as a carbine is any barrel length 16 inches to 14.5 inches. There are M16M4 military rifles and AR15M4 civilian rifles. I have deer hunted with a USGI M1 Carbine but not a AR15 but I could use the AR15 as lots of folks do for deer where I live. The AR15 can have multiple calibers but a 5.56/.223 is a medium/intermediate rifle cartridge. The M1 Carbine .30 Carbine is essentially a magnum pistol round. Both fired from the same 16 inch length barrel have virtually the same muzzle energy up to 200 yards but not the same velocity. Yes the M1 Carbine is lighter weight also. I would have no problem using either for self defense however the AR15 has more effective accuracy beyond 200 yards because it is a rifle round, not a pistol round. The M1 Carbine is the most fun gun to shoot. Both are loud. I would have to go with the AR15 though if forced to choose because it is a rifle round capable of greater distance. 5.56/.223 is also cheaper.
We live in the swamps so long range capability doesn’t really factor in for us. When we are talking about predator defense shooting the bear or cat out at 200-300 yards is not defense. I guess range factor applies if your trying to defend someone else from a predator and your providing overwatch for some reason. When we are talking about defense we are talking about 50 yards or less. When it’s too late to just leave the area. If the critter is at 50yds that’s charge distance and has now became a defensive issue.
If you get a Colt CR6920, you can get an M4 carbine on the civilian market. I personally own one because I like the M4 profile barrel, as well as the Colt name. So far, it eats anything I've put through it, .223, 5.56, brass, copper, steel and zinc cased, never jammed.
It’s been a minute sense I made this one. Did I not talk about how that rifle is like 80% of my service rifle? That one I’m using is very much an “M4” it’s just on a PSA lower. The rest of the gun is I guess technically a milsurp. Like the acog, the grip, the stock, the sights, the upper that’s all milsurp. The muzzle device is pinned to make it legal.
If your using San Cristobal .30 Carbine be aware that's corrosive ammo and not recommended for use in the M1 carbine, it was designed to be used in a submachine gun produced in that country
Mom's 59/66 does same job, with added pig sticker option. I have an AR, but it's boring, and pinches a nerve at times. Y'all are funny, so I checked in, lol. I have rifle handy in the kitchen, so if I see something out back by the kids, I can do something. If I'm out there, just my old revolver, or Makarov.
59/66 can absolutely knock that predator head into the dirt permanently lol. I didn’t do any teasers this time but we just filmed another mystery high value gun case unboxing for our (thank you 500) so pay attention for that episode to drop. It’s definitely not something any of our viewers are going to expect to come out of the storage facility. I mean I fully freaked out when we opened it on camera. Just when everyone thinks it’s going to all be ancient small guns BOOM this happens lol
@@BigBoyRabbit420 I've been working on my $199 Carcano long rifle lately. .264 bullet freefall drops halfway down barrel, but it passes the .268 test well. I got an evenly worn one, instead of just shot out. Been switching bullets all morning, lol. I like mostly "fudd guns" as the kids call them, but go as far as cz75 clone with ports, and our cheapo AR.

@@BigBoyRabbit420 I'm similar with things I buy. Most of mine are a collection, but a few calibers get shot often. @@charlene2400 thank you!! No clue what Mauser is inside the scout stock but we will cross our fingers. I’ll put some muzzle device on it to mitigate recoil. We LOVE cannons!!!! Although I don’t think I’ve debut a single one. Well…. One is filmed just not posted yet. That .20 of yours is a killer! I have thought about loading various diameter minie balls in there corresponding shotgun gauges to see how they perform. Actually we are planning an episode demonstrating the difference in damage the minie ball does compared to some modern high velocity smaller calibers. We want to show that they are just as devastating but in a completely different way

I’m wanting the M1, been there done that with the AR15, not impressed, my current “ranch gun is a Henry 30/30 lever action.

Actually your ballistics are wrong. 30 carbine is 970 at the muzzle and 600 at 100 yds. 5.56 is 1200 at the muzzle and 920 at 100 yds. Look it up
