I’m a snow professional, with 50 guys all doing hand shoveling and blowing (plus heavy equipment). The blower is behaving normally. Those single stage blowers, gas or electric, are not meant to go into snow that is compact, wet or deeper than 4”. Your Ego has an advantage in that you can shut down to clear a jam safely without the need to pull the rope again for a restart. My other comment is that you are forcing the blower though the snow, moving too fast which is what is causing your jam. Slow down a little and give the thing a chance to toss out what you intake. You need a 2 stage blower if your wanting to clear at that speed and that depth.

holy crap. My electric blower costs twice as much and works like crap. "I'm smart enough to create a youtube video but not smart enough to operate a machine. Dear Jesus- watch a few videos from guys who work for a living before buying this crap. I can work better with a 197x Ariens 624 than these new bunny-hugger machines that only work on 2 inches of fluffy snow than real conditions
It didn’t do a bad job. It just doesn’t throw it super far if it’s anything but powder. I think it would be good for standard driveways or narrow ones. Small properties. But I have a double driveway, and it’s shared for the last half so it’s 40’ wide. This just doesn’t cut it for heavy Michigan snow.
@itsarubiconday I live in Ohio right on the lake. Heavy wet snow. I also have a large wrap-around driveway. I have this exact snowblower and it works fine. Of course, I don't force it through the snow at such a fast-paced speed and I don't have my chute pointed at a sharp 90° angle. This guy is just an idiot (who refers to his car as "the tesla")
Lol after watching this I'm sold I'm getting one today. Its normal for it to clog on wet snow in some cases over and over. It happens to my 50" wide cub cadet gas blower. Just shovel the packed in snow out and push on.
@@free2binnh This is a misconception. Spraying Pam, cooking oil or whatever on shoots does not work well at all. It would only work well if the temperature was normal. WD-40, cooking spray, Pam whatever starts to get sticky and thick in cold weather. It actually makes the situation worse. You better off using things that are designed for cold weather like Teflon spray, special silicone spray that doesn't freeze. It's amazing to me how people keep falling for this one.. And if you have a metal shoot and a metal snowblower your better off using ceramic car nano wax.. now that will make it slip and last a long time. The Pam and WD-40 even if it did work does not last at all.. ;)
Yeah really, plus its literally the weakest single stage they make. The one with the 40ft sticker and the metal auger to me, is about the perfect mix for most homeowners. Still light, but metal where it counts, a little more power than this one, get the one with 2 5ma batteries nnur set
It seems to be performing as it should. Heavy wet snow is always a challenge. When the snow builds up just rock the snowblower up and down to dilodge the packed snow. I have a smaller one and found this works.
You were smart to return yours. I stuck with mine for 2 seasons before going back to a Toro gas unit. The first unit I had which was replaced vis mail from Ego died from a circuit board failure. The subsequent unit, like the first, didn't throw slushy snow as far as a gas unit. It's scraper bar, unlike a spring floating gas unit which sits behind the auger, caught every crack on the ground. The batteries often didn't last for my completing a 38 by 100 property. Just cleaning what the city plow would leave at the end of driveway would kill the freshly charged batteries causing me to stop for over an hour for a recharge.
I’m an EGO believer too and I get where your coming from, we have high expectations. That being said, it’s like cutting 12in grass in one pass.....that ain’t gonna happen without an industrial mower, I think the same applies here. Thanks for the review.
I think you're being a little picky. I've had this thing for going on 3 years now and I have beat the $hit out of it and it still blows hard AF. It's surprising what it will do, on larger snow loads, just take smaller cuts and it will easily do 12" of wet snow. I've blown myself out of full blown blizzards, full 4 car driveway and walkway, on only 4x 5.0ah batteries. The issue of snow getting caught I've never had to deal with after properly sweeping it off if the conditions are wet, so things don't freeze for next use. Just common sense stuff. If the snow is really heavy and wet, yes, it will not throw it as far, but that should be expected. The front scrapper lip is an issue yes, I'd say the only issue with this design. I 3D printed slide for it, lifts it about .25"-.5" up and good to go. It's a small, single stage blower, for what it is, it kicks some serious ass, will it keep up with a 2 stage? no. But now ego has introduced a crazy awesome 2 stage blower so problem solved.
It takes you 4 5.0 amp batteries to do a 4 car driveway? These batteries are rated for 30-45 min you should be able to accomplish this with one maybe 2 batteries
Unfortunately I had a horrible experience with the 2 stage...which I used twice and returned. I love my Ego mower, trimmer, blower, and work light...but Unfortunately, the snow blower was crap! I researched the daylights out of it, all the raving reviews and was so excited when it arrived. Unfortunately, again, it clogged, was slow, and struggled to cleat my 20' × 36' driveway and 60' × 5' of sidewalks. That's the honest review. I still love my other Ego products but not the snowblower!
Good Lord Man the scrapper bar scrapes down to the surface therefore it will catch on irregularities in the surface it's moving over! I'm going to buy one of those, what a fantastic machine!
Thats why I bought the 2 Stage....Go big or go home!!! The 2 Stage will throw 50' The reason these in between units stink is because there is no drive motor and no auger Your essentially slapping the snow with a rubber belt. Which also needs to be replaced after time.
I've had one of these single stage Ego Power Plus snow blowers since they first came out. These are as powerful as any other single stage blower and do a better job of snow removal than many of the gasoline powered single stage machines. The video actually demonstrated how well this little machine does work in much less than ideal snow conditions. I think he would find that if he did a half swath in the heavy, wet deeper stuff, he'd find that the machine worked much better. I recommend that he get one of the 2-stage blowers that Ego has put on the market this fall. He'll be much happier since he really expected the single stage blower to do the job of a 2-stage blower. . . Just my 2-cents worth!
Consumer Reports disagrees with your assertion of Ego's performance. Toro is the top rated battery snowblower. Gas toro single stage beats all types of single stage.
@@dmiller9786 I think Honda makes better snow blowers and throwers. Especially looking at my HS35 from the '80s and the current line of HS720 units made as I see a few more of those than Toros in my town. I also think that if you want a commercial snow blower the Honda HSS928CTD is a perfect choice, from the unit itself with battery electric start, hydrostatic transaxle to the COMMERCIAL grade Honda GX270 engine sitting atop it, which no other two stage snow blower company that I know of has, as well as being able to send snow flying up to 52 ft away, it's the perfect walk-behind beast. Granted, it's CA$5,000 but well worth it in my opinion.

Ego single-stage snow blower has the scraper bar problem after a few usages. If the scraper bar is worn off, it will keep jarring down on the ground and unable to move forward. I have this jarring down problem and it is very frustrating. I have to keep changing the scraper bar after a few usages. Last year, I added a pair of slide shoes skid in the front auger box, which does better. This year I removed the pair of shoe skids, and I added two 6" wheels in the front auger box, I hope this will solve the jarring down problem.
It looks from the images that the batteries are not that far forward as the blocks you speak of. They can't be because the batteries should go all the way down in the blower and those blocks are only a few inches down from the top.
The chute clog is exacerbated because there is no heat from the engine. I carry a stick and needed to do that with the old Toro also. But not as much. The two protuberances you see need the blade though are not the batteries. Batteries are aft of the things that stick into the snow cavity. We're sacrificing some utility having a single stage of course. I'm going to try a silicone no stick treatment this winter and see if that helps. What I really don't like are the effect of the control joints on a sidewalk. They keep catching and I haven't figured out a solution for that yet.
I just bought the new SNT2120AP single-stage. I really want to like this thing, but it's only throwing the snow about 3 feet, rather than the advertised "up to 45 feet". I've used it about 4 times -- each time on 1" to 2" of wet snow. I've heard wet snow is tougher, but come on, 3 feet throw distance is ridiculous. Anybody have any ideas?
That could be. Won’t rule that out. I went to this right after a Toro and the Toro just threw the snow further. My driveway is super wide as I share it with my neighbor so I need the distance. Chalking it up to being in the small niche that needs the gas powered throwing power.
@@itsarubiconday Did you see the new SNT2110 and the SNT2400? They have steel augers now and new design. The SNT2400 is a two stage battery powered EGO. Just came out this year, I just ordered the SNT2110, I live in the midwest, there can be a bit of snow time to time, but I don't have a big drive way so I should be fine without the 2 stager.

EGO has a new single stage with metal auger that may help to decrease the clogging; however, they also have a new 2-stage snow blower so you can set the height to avoid the concrete cracks.
The newer version does not have a metal auger, it has a metal auger shaft, the main auger is still the reinforced rubber paddle (that a lot of other brands use as well).

Spray the auger and chute chambers with vegetable oil/silicone/X-Rain will resolve the high moisture content snow buildup typically at the beginning and the end of snow season and improve shooting distance on any snow blower. I just bought the steel auger and replaced the rubber auger and it’s working even better with dense snow and ice: igocordless.ca/en/produits/2827386002/
@@calbert1735 Just bought a set of Greenworks skid pads ($5.00) and retrofitted onto the sides of the auger chamber. Now it can go as low as the scraper bar or raise the housing up to avoid the cracks on the sidewalks. Spray 2 cotes of Turtle Wax Ceramic spray (24 hr cure time in between) on the entire machine (plastics, glass and metal safe) that should last 12 month per application and keeps the snow falling off the machine.
I am looking at getting the Toro 21E 60V. The guy at Ace told me more people by Ego... but I've watched a ton of reviews on RUclips and it sounds like Toro has the better electric snow blower and lawn mower.
Well, thank you for the review. To an extent, you’re right about its features and performance, especially your comments on the battery holders - that has to be changed. But have to agree with some other folks, here, that its performance really isn’t that bad. I would suggest trying some of that silicone spray specifically for snow blower chutes, and possibly cutting the width of your path a bit to reduce how much you’re throwing - that might help. Be advised, though that I’ve seen chute scrapers and brushes on sale at several outlets, so I think this might be a common problem for many different snow blowers. But, hey - it’s your choice - if you’re not happy with it, take it back ! Best wishes !

Yeah, it seems like companies give product away anymore to you tubers and I just don’t know who to trust with opinions. Like you I guess, I just watch as many videos as I can and try to get an honest consensus. Hopefully the 2-stage has an improved design....
Same issues with a weaker greenworks one I have. They catch everything and it clogs on wet snow. Oh, and the batteries are nowhere near that part in the front.
That's the kind of snow we get here on Long Island - wet and heavy. I use a two stage gas Toro, but I've been thinking of getting a single stage electric for the smaller amounts that aren't worth dragging out the two stage. I'm going to have to do more research.
I love mine it works great for the small snow storms but for the heavy wet snow I always bring out my gas 2 stage I wouldn't expect the ego to work in that heavy wet snow
This guy is literally looking for any reason to get rid of it lol. If he can't afford it, which is what I think the problem is, he should of never got it. Also, he can file the scrape blade. They are only 15 or 20 bucks if u screw it up. Ur old toro was probably worn to shit, which is why it didn't scrape good. He should of gotten a more powerful unit if he needed a more powerful unit. He bought the cheapest unit, for someone with a sidewalk out front, a step above the snowshovel this one is. Get a more powerful unit if thats what he needs. You buy either, exactly what you need, this will work fine for you, hes just crying about it clogging, or slightly less than what you need with anything, it will never be easy for the machine and you have to work a little. Its not self propelled or auger propelled nothing. You have to man handle this machine and it takes a bit to get used to how u should use it. Try going only 50% of the width instead of trying to kill it in the higher areas. That may help, also slowing down a little is a good idea sometimes. Its like buying a 20ft trailer but you need a 30ft, you are making 2 trips. Same thing. This idiot was expecting the world because of the cost. These work awesome man, n I hate seeing people shitting on the company because they are not that good at using machines. Id rather have this than a shovel any day They are
My gas toro will clog sometimes too in certain conditions. I picked one of these up this month and love it. Slow it down, you are packing the snow into the hopper before you let the blade do the work. I have also found with my toro I need to take smaller bites with the heavy stuff or it clogs.
Another thing I noticed is that you have the snow chute pointed 90 degrees. That's asking the snow to change direction pretty severely. With my old small gas powered blower, I tried to keep it more at 45 degrees when possible and only used it at 90 degrees at the end of a run to avoid throwing snow into the street or at my house. Just a thought. I checked out this review dreading the possibility that maybe I just bought a stinker, but seeing it run in your video, I'm pretty confident this will be the right move.
Regarding the concrete cracks or uneven surfaces, I too have experienced this very unsettling problem. My solution is to have my left hand on the handlebar near the bend at the top left, then the right hand not on the handlebar, but on the protrusion in the very center down below the handlebar at the green start button. That allows for a kind of shock-absorber type of reaction when I slam into these uneven cracks in the driveway or sidewalk. For whatever reason the design of the EGO is such that it is catching these "unevens", as opposed to my Toro Power Clear 821 QZE gas model [I no longer have, and it never experienced this uneven surfaces catch and jam to my body.] This is a good snow blower, it is not perfect but it goes along with all my other EGO products, and I only have to have two battery lines, DeWalt and EGO. I'd like to know from one of the other posters what the hack was for the scrapper bar that might help alleviate the jam on these 'unevens'.
I just got one and tried it out when I got only 3 inches and found the same with pushing the snow. Any suggestions? Don't understand the manual that says "The inline cable adjuster can change the move force of the chute-rotation handle as you wish.you can reduce the force by rotating the inline cable adjuster ounterclockwise slightly. Conversely, the force will add by turning it in the opposute direction. Be noted that the snow discharge chute will drift left/right during use if it is too loose." Move force of chute-rotation? Define "slightly".
Thanks for the review. The scraper bar issue seems to be prominent since machine did not have a skid plate of sorts unlike the Greenworks Pro 22" 80v. Seems to be a design oversight. I've seen a lot of folks "modify" their blowers by adding one up and seemed to alliviate premature wear of scraper bar and bottom of machine which leads to rusting. The issue of clogging seems to be mostly operator error but I understand your frustrations, my single stage 2-cycle does the same and even my 2 stage will clog up on wet snow from time to time. Perhaps go with the EGO 2 stage.
Looks like you better go get yourself a two stage 12 hp gas blower for the way you expect one to work. That snow is heavy wet and packed. There is no battery interference with the snow being picked up and blown. Gas blowers tend to have adjustable skid shoes. Slow down your pushing speed and get to your driveway before you drive over it and pack it down.
It looks like the battery placement is further to back of the unit It sure seems to work similar to my Toro 2450 but without the hassles of mixing fuel, routine maintenance associated with an ICE. Evidently a two stage machine is what you desire
Your blower is twice as good as mine. I have the 21" 40' throw model but it looks exactly like yours. After one use, here is my review: Mine is crap and EGO will not do anything about it. Mine throws 3 - 4" of semi-wet snow 1 to 3 feet. After sending them pictures of what I was dealing with (they said do not send a video I took) they had the audacity to respond that it was working fine and the clearance problem with my driveway (1/16" bump between my concrete slabs) was normal. Their answer for the throwing distance issue - "adjust the chute." I thought maybe there was some additional step other than the obvious process of using the handle to turn the 180-degree chute. They sent a video showing how to turn the chute with the handle....... My god, what an insult. In response to the person below who commented to slow down and give the blower a chance to push out the snow - you can't help but slow down if the blower will not even move, it is stuck on 4" of snow. You have to pull back and get a moving start and push with all your might to get it to even chew through it. The end of every pass is a small pile of snow that the blower will not pick up and throw. If you all are happy with your machines, great! I must have received a defective one, the answer to that is to be able to return it and get a new one. Well, the local ACE Hardware said no to that because EGO would not take it back from them. EGO would do nothing about it either. I stand by my comment that it is junk and I will never buy another EGO product.
Anita. Same exact issues here. I've got the new model of the single stage, and it boasts that it can throw snow 45 feet. Ah, more like 3 feet (even pointed straight-ahead)! To be honest, that's heavy wet snow, but what good is the dang thing if you can't even throw it off your sidewalk. I'm still in my first 30 days. I'll try it once more, then I'm going to return it, if I can.
The best of luck trying to return it. My local Ace Hardware store refused to do anything about my crummy snowblower because Ego would not do anything for them. As I said above, Ego refused to help me after writing, and sending pictures. I'll never buy another Ego or shop at Ace Hardware again.
A trick that may work,, try to apply hydrophobic wax or ceramic inside the chute and around the auger. It won't prevent all clogging but it will help and you might be able to increase the distance.
I just picked up one of these used for two hundred bucks oh, and for how it works for the size of my driveway clearing out 10 inches of snow in about 30 to 40 minutes I really can't complain
Only issues I've had with jamming is wet snow, I do agree the snow chute section is probably not optimized as far as I can tell. Does have trouble with the ends of drive ways but it is a single stage rubber paddle blower. hopefully they make a 2 stage snow blower for next year because my shoulders still hurt from this season. I have tons of videos of me using it. I do agree with some of what you're saying. I generally like the blower, great for decks, and light to medium snow.

I got the one with the metal blade - works much better and chops through tough blocks of packed snow as well as the icy ridge left by the plows at the end of the driveway. However, I agree with the other comments below - it is a single stage snowblower and I don't expect it to work like a bigger two stage. I like being able to just pop the batteries in and get to work - no fussing with gas and oil , choking and priming and fighting to warm up the engine. I'm only using half the battery charge on a 24 x 75 foot driveway, including when I'm clearing the icy ridge at the end. Mind you , I only recently got mine so I'll reserve full endorsement for a couple of seasons.
Hmm, the batteries look a lot farther back than those square cut outs. I don't think that's why those are there. when it starts pushing snow, what happens if you just make a half pass?
I have the same machine and have no problem with mine as I only use it on fast Auga speed and very slow walking on wet snow. Yes if you upshot wet snow fast it will clog. Dry snow no problem. But also I overlap half my run to not over work the machine. The snow scraping blade on the front I lifted it 1/8 inch

I agree man. I like their reviews for the technical info and to see them in action, but just can’t buy their opinions. This is a decent snow blower, but I think it’s just worth the extra money and opt for a two stage if you get lots of snow or the heavy stuff. This will work fine if you have a narrow driveway, I just need more than 15’ of throwing distance. Thanks for the kind words. Glad I could give some real world input.
Thank you for an unbiased (non fan boy) review. I too have a number of Ego products that I enjoy and was looking at a snow blower. Please do an follow up on this video on how things work out. It looks like it does not handle the wet snow as well as it should.
Tell me which battery run electric snow blower does! If you want to move deep heavy wet snow, you have to get a bigger machine. I first bought a Craftsman red monster that, now that I'm 72, hate to haul out and use until it's a ridiculously deep heavy wet snow. I'd rather shovel. However, I just bought this EGO and will try it for the first time when it snows. I can always return it and go back to shoveling the less deep, dryer stuff.
Try silicone spray on the next one you get, heavy wet snow is a pain even for the big gas models. My 16HP Husqvarna will clog with the slush. Remember its not snow you are moving, its a wet Big Gulp.
You have a midnight silver or this that black model 3? Cool we have a red awd model 3. I guess it figures with an electric snowblower. I have not felt e snowblowers are there yet for deeper snow although ariens made/makes a two stage so I still use my big snappers. Have many other e stuff like weedwackers, hedge trimmers, pole saw, chainsaw, lawnmower, hand blower (still use gas backpack for larger amount of leaves) and most of my contractor tools.
Hey! How did I not see this comment?! Yes, I have a midnight silver AWD. Really like it, (doesn’t everyone?). Ariens is good stuff. That’s what I’ve always heard at least. Never owned any though. I did return this and go to a gas Cub Cadet. It kinda hurts to do that as it’s my only piece of gas powered anything at my house anymore. But with the 2-stages starting to come out I’m optimistic. Going to go to school on them and re-evaluate in a year or two.
Honestly man, when you have 4-5” or more you should be doing half/3/4 at a time, not trying to push it through 100% snow. It’s a technique, and it takes longer to do, but just about any machine I’ve ever used performs better and clogs less when you do 1/2-3/4 at a time instead of trying to push the entire width with these small blowers. The 2 stage machines have the power to throw snow. Anyway, it looks like it does a good job and has good power.
Using cooking oil for anti-sticking is a bad idea. Oil becomes thicker as it gets cold. Switch to a spray silicone. It's more expensive but it is unaffected by temperature and lasts longer.
I have EGO everything... and a Toro single stage. Hesitant to go with battery powered for a few reasons: 1. Toro has been going at it for 22 years, one carb fix, primer bulb change, spark plug change and just changed the paddles. 2. I can run it continuously forever in a big snow event because I can keep fuelling on the fly. 3. It still works great. 4. I run 100:1 Amsoil synthetic oil which eliminates 80% of the smell Seems like the people that owned Toro regret the switch the most. Mine just won't break, so I'll keep going.
That was my Toro single stage. It just kept running. I really liked it. Can’t argue with your decision to keep it. And, whenever it does die, battery powered units will only be better.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm thinking of getting their new two stage snowblower. Hope it doesn't have the same issue. The two stage does have adjustable skid plates that might help reduce the edge catching. Nice Tesla Model 3, BTW.
Thanks man! I really wanted to like it. And it’s not bad, but with our heavy snow and my wide, shared driveway, it just couldn’t throw it. I’m really interested in their two stage as well. My plan is to ‘go to school’ on first year buyer and see the reviews. If it’s good, I’m in for sure. 👍🏼
@@itsarubiconday right after your video, I watched some guy doing really well with the single stage EGO, so I assume the issue is the consistency, stickiness, of the snow. Personally, I knew I wanted something heavier and self propelled, even if it costs a lot more. I've got two electric cars and think it is rediculous that I have a gas snow blower.
John I’m the same way. My new Cub Cadet blower is the only gas powered item on my property. Everything else is electric. Electric blowers ARE getting better. I’m optimistic. Everything and everyone is going to batteries so it’ll be soon enough.
@@itsarubiconday I do also have a little used gas pressure washer. I doubt I will bother to replace that with electric as I don't use it much. But it would be nice to not longer have a gas can on the property.
This is the way! I was using mine on 1/6/25 and was trying to push full cuts. Kept clogging down like in his video. I was even running on turbo speed (silly me). Once I learned to half cut my paths, the blower worked flawlessly at a lower speed and wet snow. There's a slight learning curve because our area doesn't often get a lot of snow like this year. Saved my back so much and helped a few neighbors. I love it!
You have to check the belts tension make sure there’s no grease around it. Everything tightened leave just a tad bit loose that it could grab the front I don’t think so but if you think so, you could put a piece of A sheet metal but I doubt it you need it in the front check in the bottom. I think it has some kind of scoop and the battery wise whatever power it puts out that’s what you’re gonna get it’s like you’re gonna run out of gas if you think it doesn’t hold the charge, send it back the battery I think if you try to look everywhere on that machine, you could probably fix it. but I think when you take the first bite it’s fine gotta go slow after that you gotta take 4 inch or 5 inch cause you’re pushing the engine too much you probably know that by now my last choice is buy a snowblower. I have snow Joe but I have a snowblower, the snow, Joe, I use for the sidewalk. for the driveway I use my regular snowblower unless we get packed high and then they put that little machine to work as a regular snowblower you understand sir keep up the good work and nice video
This is my second year with this snowblower and no complains at all. This winter we're getting slammed with snow, over 24 inches so far it's working great. It looks like you're pushing it forward too fast and your speed setting is set too low.
Thanks for letting us know. I just got one of these. My only other snow blower was a little Toro gas-powered. It threw snow almost exactly like your EGO unit does. I see a lot of people using some sort of spray or wax on their snowblowers to try and keep the chutes as clear as possible. I have yet to test the ego that I just bought, but if it works as well as yours I'm going to be happy. Like you, I have a ton of tools in the Ego ecosystem. I got my snow blower for $650. That's basically like buying the two batteries and the dual port charger, then getting the snow blower for free. It doesn't snow THAT much where I live. I might need this 2x a year. If I lived in a snowier place, I think I'd get a dual stage blower. But seriously, thanks for an honest review. That's help to everyone. just push down on the handle and bang the front on the ground i found it clear and i keep going. Those squares are not the battery box. That is a sidewalk machine if you want to do a driveway get a 2 stage snow blower
Biggest problem with the EGO single stage snow blowers is the scraper bar. Horrible design. They need to fix it asap. I'm keeping mine as I'm getting too old for pull starting and 2 stage snow blowers but I'm not as happy as I should be for what I paid for the SNT2125AP.
Cant really comment yet, i used my snowblower for only one storm so far, worked great but i cant give my 2 cents until I get to use it more. So just in general, most blowers clog so that isnt really an issue with just the Ego. I do think a redesign is past do though, I agree about the squares, do they need to be there? Can they round the edges maybe? Also, has anyone tried using one of those hybrid ceramic liquid car waxes inside a snow blower chute yet? I wonder if it would work?
I just got one and for $600 you get no where near the supposed run time of 90min may be 30 at best. I had to recharge the batteries 3x to get the job done then gave up. Yeah its going back.

I’m a snow professional, with 50 guys all doing hand shoveling and blowing (plus heavy equipment). The blower is behaving normally. Those single stage blowers, gas or electric, are not meant to go into snow that is compact, wet or deeper than 4”. Your Ego has an advantage in that you can shut down to clear a jam safely without the need to pull the rope again for a restart. My other comment is that you are forcing the blower though the snow, moving too fast which is what is causing your jam. Slow down a little and give the thing a chance to toss out what you intake. You need a 2 stage blower if your wanting to clear at that speed and that depth.

But I have a double driveway, and it’s shared for the last half so it’s 40’ wide. This just doesn’t cut it for heavy Michigan snow.

@itsarubiconday I live in Ohio right on the lake. Heavy wet snow. I also have a large wrap-around driveway. I have this exact snowblower and it works fine. Of course, I don't force it through the snow at such a fast-paced speed and I don't have my chute pointed at a sharp 90° angle.

I solved the clogged chute thing by spraying a layer of Teflon Inside and on the the blades, and inside the blower; slicker than Possum Poop.

Lol after watching this I'm sold I'm getting one today. Its normal for it to clog on wet snow in some cases over and over. It happens to my 50" wide cub cadet gas blower. Just shovel the packed in snow out and push on.

Spay cooking oil on the chute and blade area. If the snow is wet, clogs will happen. A 2 stage snowblower would solve the problem.
@@free2binnh This is a misconception. Spraying Pam, cooking oil or whatever on shoots does not work well at all. It would only work well if the temperature was normal.
WD-40, cooking spray, Pam whatever starts to get sticky and thick in cold weather. It actually makes the situation worse.
You better off using things that are designed for cold weather like Teflon spray, special silicone spray that doesn't freeze.

It seems to be performing as it should. Heavy wet snow is always a challenge. When the snow builds up just rock the snowblower up and down to dilodge the packed snow. I have a smaller one and found this works.
Spend more for 2 stage blower. Good for wet and compact snow.

You were smart to return yours. I stuck with mine for 2 seasons before going back to a Toro gas unit. The first unit I had which was replaced vis mail from Ego died from a circuit board failure. The subsequent unit, like the first, didn't throw slushy snow as far as a gas unit. It's scraper bar, unlike a spring floating gas unit which sits behind the auger, caught every crack on the ground. The batteries often didn't last for my completing a 38 by 100 property. Just cleaning what the city plow would leave at the end of driveway would kill the freshly charged batteries causing me to stop for over an hour for a recharge.
I’m an EGO believer too and I get where your coming from, we have high expectations. That being said, it’s like cutting 12in grass in one pass.....that ain’t gonna happen without an industrial mower, I think the same applies here. Thanks for the review.
I think you're being a little picky. I've had this thing for going on 3 years now and I have beat the $hit out of it and it still blows hard AF. It's surprising what it will do, on larger snow loads, just take smaller cuts and it will easily do 12" of wet snow. I've blown myself out of full blown blizzards, full 4 car driveway and walkway, on only 4x 5.0ah batteries. The issue of snow getting caught I've never had to deal with after properly sweeping it off if the conditions are wet, so things don't freeze for next use. Just common sense stuff. If the snow is really heavy and wet, yes, it will not throw it as far, but that should be expected. The front scrapper lip is an issue yes, I'd say the only issue with this design. I 3D printed slide for it, lifts it about .25"-.5" up and good to go. It's a small, single stage blower, for what it is, it kicks some serious ass, will it keep up with a 2 stage? no. But now ego has introduced a crazy awesome 2 stage blower so problem solved.

It takes you 4 5.0 amp batteries to do a 4 car driveway? These batteries are rated for 30-45 min you should be able to accomplish this with one maybe 2 batteries

Unfortunately I had a horrible experience with the 2 stage...which I used twice and returned. I love my Ego mower, trimmer, blower, and work light...but Unfortunately, the snow blower was crap! I researched the daylights out of it, all the raving reviews and was so excited when it arrived. Unfortunately, again, it clogged, was slow, and struggled to cleat my 20' × 36' driveway and 60' × 5' of sidewalks. That's the honest review. I still love my other Ego products but not the snowblower!
I run my Ariens Path Pro 21 with one hand, It clears out the plow pile at the end of my driveway really well. That one would drive me nuts.
Good Lord Man the scrapper bar scrapes down to the surface therefore it will catch on irregularities in the surface it's moving over!

Thats why I bought the 2 Stage....Go big or go home!!! The 2 Stage will throw 50' The reason these in between units stink is because there is no drive motor and no auger Your essentially slapping the snow with a rubber belt. Which also needs to be replaced after time.
I've had one of these single stage Ego Power Plus snow blowers since they first came out. These are as powerful as any other single stage blower and do a better job of snow removal than many of the gasoline powered single stage machines. The video actually demonstrated how well this little machine does work in much less than ideal snow conditions. I think he would find that if he did a half swath in the heavy, wet deeper stuff, he'd find that the machine worked much better. I recommend that he get one of the 2-stage blowers that Ego has put on the market this fall. He'll be much happier since he really expected the single stage blower to do the job of a 2-stage blower. . . Just my 2-cents worth!

Especially looking at my HS35 from the '80s and the current line of HS720 units made as I see a few more of those than Toros in my town. I also think that if you want a commercial snow blower the Honda HSS928CTD is a perfect choice, from the unit itself with battery electric start, hydrostatic transaxle to the COMMERCIAL grade Honda GX270 engine sitting atop it, which no other two stage snow blower company that I know of has, as well as being able to send snow flying up to 52 ft away, it's the perfect walk-behind beast. Granted, it's CA$5,000 but well worth it in my opinion.

Ego single-stage snow blower has the scraper bar problem after a few usages. If the scraper bar is worn off, it will keep jarring down on the ground and unable to move forward. I have this jarring down problem and it is very frustrating. I have to keep changing the scraper bar after a few usages. Last year, I added a pair of slide shoes skid in the front auger box, which does better. This year I removed the pair of shoe skids, and I added two 6" wheels in the front auger box, I hope this will solve the jarring down problem.

It looks from the images that the batteries are not that far forward as the blocks you speak of. They can't be because the batteries should go all the way down in the blower and those blocks are only a few inches down from the top.

The chute clog is exacerbated because there is no heat from the engine. I carry a stick and needed to do that with the old Toro also. But not as much. The two protuberances you see need the blade though are not the batteries. Batteries are aft of the things that stick into the snow cavity.
We're sacrificing some utility having a single stage of course.
I'm going to try a silicone no stick treatment this winter and see if that helps.
What I really don't like are the effect of the control joints on a sidewalk. They keep catching and I haven't figured out a solution for that yet.
They make chute silicone lubricant spray that really helps out.

I just bought the new SNT2120AP single-stage. I really want to like this thing, but it's only throwing the snow about 3 feet, rather than the advertised "up to 45 feet". I've used it about 4 times -- each time on 1" to 2" of wet snow. I've heard wet snow is tougher, but come on, 3 feet throw distance is ridiculous. Anybody have any ideas?

That could be. Won’t rule that out. I went to this right after a Toro and the Toro just threw the snow further. My driveway is super wide as I share it with my neighbor so I need the distance. Chalking it up to being in the small niche that needs the gas powered throwing power.

Just came out this year, I just ordered the SNT2110, I live in the midwest, there can be a bit of snow time to time, but I don't have a big drive way so I should be fine without the 2 stager.

EGO has a new single stage with metal auger that may help to decrease the clogging; however, they also have a new 2-stage snow blower so you can set the height to avoid the concrete cracks.
The newer version does not have a metal auger, it has a metal auger shaft, the main auger is still the reinforced rubber paddle (that a lot of other brands use as well).

Spray the auger and chute chambers with vegetable oil/silicone/X-Rain will resolve the high moisture content snow buildup typically at the beginning and the end of snow season and improve shooting distance on any snow blower.

@@calbert1735 Just bought a set of Greenworks skid pads ($5.00) and retrofitted onto the sides of the auger chamber. Now it can go as low as the scraper bar or raise the housing up to avoid the cracks on the sidewalks. Spray 2 cotes of Turtle Wax Ceramic spray (24 hr cure time in between) on the entire machine (plastics, glass and metal safe) that should last 12 month per application and keeps the snow falling off the machine.
I am looking at getting the Toro 21E 60V. The guy at Ace told me more people by Ego... but I've watched a ton of reviews on RUclips and it sounds like Toro has the better electric snow blower and lawn mower.
Well, thank you for the review. To an extent, you’re right about its features and performance, especially your comments on the battery holders - that has to be changed. But have to agree with some other folks, here, that its performance really isn’t that bad. I would suggest trying some of that silicone spray specifically for snow blower chutes, and possibly cutting the width of your path a bit to reduce how much you’re throwing - that might help. Be advised, though that I’ve seen chute scrapers and brushes on sale at several outlets, so I think this might be a common problem for many different snow blowers. But, hey - it’s your choice - if you’re not happy with it, take it back ! Best wishes !

That's the kind of snow we get here on Long Island - wet and heavy. I use a two stage gas Toro, but I've been thinking of getting a single stage electric for the smaller amounts that aren't worth dragging out the two stage. I'm going to have to do more research.
I love mine it works great for the small snow storms but for the heavy wet snow I always bring out my gas 2 stage I wouldn't expect the ego to work in that heavy wet snow

You buy either, exactly what you need, this will work fine for you, hes just crying about it clogging, or slightly less than what you need with anything, it will never be easy for the machine and you have to work a little. Its not self propelled or auger propelled nothing. You have to man handle this machine and it takes a bit to get used to how u should use it.
Try going only 50% of the width instead of trying to kill it in the higher areas. That may help, also slowing down a little is a good idea sometimes. Its like buying a 20ft trailer but you need a 30ft, you are making 2 trips. Same thing.

My gas toro will clog sometimes too in certain conditions. I picked one of these up this month and love it. Slow it down, you are packing the snow into the hopper before you let the blade do the work. I have also found with my toro I need to take smaller bites with the heavy stuff or it clogs.
I have the same one and haven’t had this issue with clogging. It does catch a bit on the seams though.
Another thing I noticed is that you have the snow chute pointed 90 degrees. That's asking the snow to change direction pretty severely. With my old small gas powered blower, I tried to keep it more at 45 degrees when possible and only used it at 90 degrees at the end of a run to avoid throwing snow into the street or at my house. Just a thought. I checked out this review dreading the possibility that maybe I just bought a stinker, but seeing it run in your video, I'm pretty confident this will be the right move.
Use ceramic coating (car wax) for your chute, auger etc to make it non stick
Regarding the concrete cracks or uneven surfaces, I too have experienced this very unsettling problem. My solution is to have my left hand on the handlebar near the bend at the top left, then the right hand not on the handlebar, but on the protrusion in the very center down below the handlebar at the green start button. That allows for a kind of shock-absorber type of reaction when I slam into these uneven cracks in the driveway or sidewalk. For whatever reason the design of the EGO is such that it is catching these "unevens", as opposed to my Toro Power Clear 821 QZE gas model [I no longer have, and it never experienced this uneven surfaces catch and jam to my body.] This is a good snow blower, it is not perfect but it goes along with all my other EGO products, and I only have to have two battery lines, DeWalt and EGO. I'd like to know from one of the other posters what the hack was for the scrapper bar that might help alleviate the jam on these 'unevens'.
I just got one and tried it out when I got only 3 inches and found the same with pushing the snow. Any suggestions? Don't understand the manual that says "The inline cable adjuster can change the move force of the chute-rotation handle as you wish.you can reduce the force by rotating the inline cable adjuster ounterclockwise slightly. Conversely, the force will add by turning it in the opposute direction. Be noted that the snow discharge chute will drift left/right during use if it is too loose." Move force of chute-rotation? Define "slightly".
I spray the inside of my machine with silicone spray. It helps. That snow looks wet so it will not work as good
Thanks for the review. The scraper bar issue seems to be prominent since machine did not have a skid plate of sorts unlike the Greenworks Pro 22" 80v. Seems to be a design oversight. I've seen a lot of folks "modify" their blowers by adding one up and seemed to alliviate premature wear of scraper bar and bottom of machine which leads to rusting. The issue of clogging seems to be mostly operator error but I understand your frustrations, my single stage 2-cycle does the same and even my 2 stage will clog up on wet snow from time to time. Perhaps go with the EGO 2 stage.
Anyone figured out a way to put skidplates on this 2110?
Looks like you better go get yourself a two stage 12 hp gas blower for the way you expect one to work. That snow is heavy wet and packed. There is no battery interference with the snow being picked up and blown. Gas blowers tend to have adjustable skid shoes. Slow down your pushing speed and get to your driveway before you drive over it and pack it down.
Second thought if you were being cheap or just not having the money you need a two-stage snowblower

Your blower is twice as good as mine. I have the 21" 40' throw model but it looks exactly like yours. After one use, here is my review:
Mine is crap and EGO will not do anything about it. Mine throws 3 - 4" of semi-wet snow 1 to 3 feet. After sending them pictures of what I was dealing with (they said do not send a video I took) they had the audacity to respond that it was working fine and the clearance problem with my driveway (1/16" bump between my concrete slabs) was normal. Their answer for the throwing distance issue - "adjust the chute." I thought maybe there was some additional step other than the obvious process of using the handle to turn the 180-degree chute. They sent a video showing how to turn the chute with the handle....... My god, what an insult.
In response to the person below who commented to slow down and give the blower a chance to push out the snow - you can't help but slow down if the blower will not even move, it is stuck on 4" of snow. You have to pull back and get a moving start and push with all your might to get it to even chew through it. The end of every pass is a small pile of snow that the blower will not pick up and throw.
If you all are happy with your machines, great! I must have received a defective one, the answer to that is to be able to return it and get a new one. Well, the local ACE Hardware said no to that because EGO would not take it back from them. EGO would do nothing about it either. I stand by my comment that it is junk and I will never buy another EGO product.
Anita. Same exact issues here. I've got the new model of the single stage, and it boasts that it can throw snow 45 feet. Ah, more like 3 feet (even pointed straight-ahead)! To be honest, that's heavy wet snow, but what good is the dang thing if you can't even throw it off your sidewalk. I'm still in my first 30 days. I'll try it once more, then I'm going to return it, if I can.
The best of luck trying to return it. My local Ace Hardware store refused to do anything about my crummy snowblower because Ego would not do anything for them. As I said above, Ego refused to help me after writing, and sending pictures. I'll never buy another Ego or shop at Ace Hardware again.
It's a single stage blower. You buy this if you live in Arizona and it snows once every 5 years.
After watching this I decided on the Ryobi 21 inch blower. Works just as well as my Ariens. Battery last about 35-40 minutes.
A trick that may work,, try to apply hydrophobic wax or ceramic inside the chute and around the auger. It won't prevent all clogging but it will help and you might be able to increase the distance.
I just picked up one of these used for two hundred bucks oh, and for how it works for the size of my driveway clearing out 10 inches of snow in about 30 to 40 minutes I really can't complain
Only issues I've had with jamming is wet snow, I do agree the snow chute section is probably not optimized as far as I can tell. Does have trouble with the ends of drive ways but it is a single stage rubber paddle blower. hopefully they make a 2 stage snow blower for next year because my shoulders still hurt from this season. I have tons of videos of me using it. I do agree with some of what you're saying. I generally like the blower, great for decks, and light to medium snow.

I use a dirtbike hack on mine. I spray the auger housing and discharge shoot with WD40, no clogs. Did 6" of heavy wet snow on 2-3-24

I got the one with the metal blade - works much better and chops through tough blocks of packed snow as well as the icy ridge left by the plows at the end of the driveway. However, I agree with the other comments below - it is a single stage snowblower and I don't expect it to work like a bigger two stage.
I like being able to just pop the batteries in and get to work - no fussing with gas and oil , choking and priming and fighting to warm up the engine. I'm only using half the battery charge on a 24 x 75 foot driveway, including when I'm clearing the icy ridge at the end.
Mind you , I only recently got mine so I'll reserve full endorsement for a couple of seasons.
Hmm, the batteries look a lot farther back than those square cut outs. I don't think that's why those are there. when it starts pushing snow, what happens if you just make a half pass?

I have the same machine and have no problem with mine as I only use it on fast Auga speed and very slow walking on wet snow. Yes if you upshot wet snow fast it will clog. Dry snow no problem. But also I overlap half my run to not over work the machine. The snow scraping blade on the front I lifted it 1/8 inch
you should also consider upgrading to the steel augers

I think the chute clogging up is pretty typical for a single stage snowblower. A 2-stage blower would likely not have that issue.

This is a decent snow blower, but I think it’s just worth the extra money and opt for a two stage if you get lots of snow or the heavy stuff. This will work fine if you have a narrow driveway, I just need more than 15’ of throwing distance.

Thank you for an unbiased (non fan boy) review. I too have a number of Ego products that I enjoy and was looking at a snow blower. Please do an follow up on this video on how things work out. It looks like it does not handle the wet snow as well as it should.
Tell me which battery run electric snow blower does! If you want to move deep heavy wet snow, you have to get a bigger machine. I first bought a Craftsman red monster that, now that I'm 72, hate to haul out and use until it's a ridiculously deep heavy wet snow. I'd rather shovel. However, I just bought this EGO and will try it for the first time when it snows. I can always return it and go back to shoveling the less deep, dryer stuff.
It actually does. I use mine up to 14" of slop. You just need to use your brain and not take a cut bigger than the machine can handle.
Try silicone spray on the next one you get, heavy wet snow is a pain even for the big gas models. My 16HP Husqvarna will clog with the slush. Remember its not snow you are moving, its a wet Big Gulp.
You have a midnight silver or this that black model 3? Cool we have a red awd model 3. I guess it figures with an electric snowblower. I have not felt e snowblowers are there yet for deeper snow although ariens made/makes a two stage so I still use my big snappers. Have many other e stuff like weedwackers, hedge trimmers, pole saw, chainsaw, lawnmower, hand blower (still use gas backpack for larger amount of leaves) and most of my contractor tools.
Hey! How did I not see this comment?! Yes, I have a midnight silver AWD. Really like it, (doesn’t everyone?). Ariens is good stuff. That’s what I’ve always heard at least. Never owned any though. I did return this and go to a gas Cub Cadet. It kinda hurts to do that as it’s my only piece of gas powered anything at my house anymore. But with the 2-stages starting to come out I’m optimistic. Going to go to school on them and re-evaluate in a year or two.
Honestly man, when you have 4-5” or more you should be doing half/3/4 at a time, not trying to push it through 100% snow. It’s a technique, and it takes longer to do, but just about any machine I’ve ever used performs better and clogs less when you do 1/2-3/4 at a time instead of trying to push the entire width with these small blowers. The 2 stage machines have the power to throw snow. Anyway, it looks like it does a good job and has good power.

Using cooking oil for anti-sticking is a bad idea. Oil becomes thicker as it gets cold. Switch to a spray silicone. It's more expensive but it is unaffected by temperature and lasts longer.
My 24in 6 hp gas 2 stage blower doesn't do much better in wet snow
I have EGO everything... and a Toro single stage. Hesitant to go with battery powered for a few reasons:
1. Toro has been going at it for 22 years, one carb fix, primer bulb change, spark plug change and just changed the paddles.
2. I can run it continuously forever in a big snow event because I can keep fuelling on the fly.
3. It still works great.
4. I run 100:1 Amsoil synthetic oil which eliminates 80% of the smell
Seems like the people that owned Toro regret the switch the most. Mine just won't break, so I'll keep going.
That was my Toro single stage. It just kept running. I really liked it. Can’t argue with your decision to keep it. And, whenever it does die, battery powered units will only be better.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm thinking of getting their new two stage snowblower. Hope it doesn't have the same issue. The two stage does have adjustable skid plates that might help reduce the edge catching.

Thanks man! I really wanted to like it. And it’s not bad, but with our heavy snow and my wide, shared driveway, it just couldn’t throw it. I’m really interested in their two stage as well. My plan is to ‘go to school’ on first year buyer and see the reviews. If it’s good, I’m in for sure. 👍🏼
@@itsarubiconday right after your video, I watched some guy doing really well with the single stage EGO, so I assume the issue is the consistency, stickiness, of the snow.
Personally, I knew I wanted something heavier and self propelled, even if it costs a lot more.
I've got two electric cars and think it is rediculous that I have a gas snow blower.
John I’m the same way. My new Cub Cadet blower is the only gas powered item on my property. Everything else is electric. Electric blowers ARE getting better. I’m optimistic. Everything and everyone is going to batteries so it’ll be soon enough.
@@itsarubiconday I do also have a little used gas pressure washer. I doubt I will bother to replace that with electric as I don't use it much. But it would be nice to not longer have a gas can on the property.
I think you put your let it clear out before you push kick the pushing it if I select the shoe get clear and then push it
father had a gas single stage blower that did the same thing. Went with a 2 stage and problem solved. its the nature of the single stage design.
In your description you say "back manufacturing geometry", what exactly does that mean or refer to?
In situations like that, instead of trying to plow through like it's a light powder, do half cuts through the snow... that's just common sense.
This is the way! I was using mine on 1/6/25 and was trying to push full cuts. Kept clogging down like in his video. I was even running on turbo speed (silly me). Once I learned to half cut my paths, the blower worked flawlessly at a lower speed and wet snow. There's a slight learning curve because our area doesn't often get a lot of snow like this year. Saved my back so much and helped a few neighbors. I love it!
Go perpendicular or diagonal to the cracks, won't have issues then
You have to check the belts tension make sure there’s no grease around it. Everything tightened leave just a tad bit loose that it could grab the front I don’t think so but if you think so, you could put a piece of A sheet metal but I doubt it you need it in the front check in the bottom. I think it has some kind of scoop and the battery wise whatever power it puts out that’s what you’re gonna get it’s like you’re gonna run out of gas if you think it doesn’t hold the charge, send it back the battery I think if you try to look everywhere on that machine, you could probably fix it. but I think when you take the first bite it’s fine gotta go slow after that you gotta take 4 inch or 5 inch cause you’re pushing the engine too much you probably know that by now my last choice is buy a snowblower. I have snow Joe but I have a snowblower, the snow, Joe, I use for the sidewalk. for the driveway I use my regular snowblower unless we get packed high and then they put that little machine to work as a regular snowblower you understand sir keep up the good work and nice video
This is my second year with this snowblower and no complains at all. This winter we're getting slammed with snow, over 24 inches so far it's working great. It looks like you're pushing it forward too fast and your speed setting is set too low.
Absolutely correct. It is underpowered and constantly gets clogged.
I use ice repel by 3 M, and it really helps with any clogging
You must have a faulty unit. we got 14" of wet snow today and my blower handled it without any issue.
Thanks for letting us know. I just got one of these. My only other snow blower was a little Toro gas-powered. It threw snow almost exactly like your EGO unit does.
I see a lot of people using some sort of spray or wax on their snowblowers to try and keep the chutes as clear as possible.
I have yet to test the ego that I just bought, but if it works as well as yours I'm going to be happy.
Like you, I have a ton of tools in the Ego ecosystem. I got my snow blower for $650. That's basically like buying the two batteries and the dual port charger, then getting the snow blower for free.
It doesn't snow THAT much where I live. I might need this 2x a year. If I lived in a snowier place, I think I'd get a dual stage blower.

just push down on the handle and bang the front on the ground i found it clear and i keep going. Those squares are not the battery box. That is a sidewalk machine if you want to do a driveway get a 2 stage snow blower
You are expecting too much. I had a 7.5 HP 21” 2 stage toro which blocked up in heavy wet snow.
I sprayed wd40 on mine and it helped a lot -- but I agree I'm annoyed about the chute always clogging. Still pretty good for it not being 2 stage
Yea wd40 is the key to chute not clogging.
Biggest problem with the EGO single stage snow blowers is the scraper bar. Horrible design. They need to fix it asap. I'm keeping mine as I'm getting too old for pull starting and 2 stage snow blowers but I'm not as happy as I should be for what I paid for the SNT2125AP.

Cant really comment yet, i used my snowblower for only one storm so far, worked great but i cant give my 2 cents until I get to use it more. So just in general, most blowers clog so that isnt really an issue with just the Ego. I do think a redesign is past do though, I agree about the squares, do they need to be there? Can they round the edges maybe?
Also, has anyone tried using one of those hybrid ceramic liquid car waxes inside a snow blower chute yet? I wonder if it would work?

I just got one and for $600 you get no where near the supposed run time of 90min may be 30 at best. I had to recharge the batteries 3x to get the job done then gave up. Yeah its going back.
Bro, what the hell do you expect from a single stage? Get a two stage if you want two stage performance. That's doing a spectacular job for single stage.
My single stage TORO is better at this than the EGO. It’s not a horrible blower, it’s just not as good IMO.
