      Yeah, The Simpsons did something similar with their box sets by having a theme from Season 6 onwards and important characters, like Season 6 was a police waiting area, 7 was an awards ceremony and 8 was a momento, and a photo was taken during it of things like Belle slapping Kurt van Houten, the hurricane chasing Ned Flanders and Frank Grimes getting electrocuted. While later seasons were not as good, this themed approach was made for all the other DVDs, which went up to seventeen, I think. But I have to admit, the Shrek 2 menu is still better. "How about this, Shrek 2: Dude, Where's My Donkey? Oh There He Is Cut From The Movie Cause He Talks Too Much!"

    As a geek for animated sequels like Pixar’s “Toy Story 2” or Illumination’s “Despicable Me 2”, this is my absolute favorite from DreamWorks. Sure, a couple of duds that follow up like “Shark Tale” and, especially, “Shrek the Third” did disservices to the company, but it never stopped me from enjoying most of their features. And, while, sequels to “Kung Fu Panda” and “How to Train Your Dragon” are next to the big green ogre’s sequel, it still has a personal connection that still holds for many years.
    For those who are looking forward to seeing “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” next week, I guarantee you that after watching it, that sequel might be the best thing to exist in the entire “Shrek” franchise” after “Shrek 2”.

      That's what I figured Dragon turned into while Donkey was a Noble Steed. But I suppose she didn't appear onscreen because she was going through a lot of pain while being pregnant with Dragon-Donkey Hybrids. And her Transformation definitely wouldn't have made her situation any easier.

    • @shannonmartin1247
      @shannonmartin1247 Год назад +10

      Actually, she was originally going to appear as a Pegasus in the movie. In early drafts, she appeared with Gingy and the gang when they break Shrek, Donkey, and Puss out of prison and she was giving the abilities to talk. But the writers wanted her pregnancy to be a surprise and Dragon was too much of a chatterbox in Pegasus form to let it be a surprise. But the writers did confirm that she transformed off screen meaning she is Donkey's true love and although they don't say anything about it, she most likely did gave birth in a different form.

    The thing about the animation I love is how realistic the artstyle is. They have small regular eyes, realistic teeth, and even tiny details like the moles and freckles. It’s animation like this I miss cause it made me believe this could happen in real life.
    It’s like, comparing this animation with Disney or Dreamworks 3D now. Where they all have big cartoony eyes, perfect clear skin, and not that many details. Here, the eyes are so realistic and their teeth isn’t pearly white, and even though they are expressive, they’re still realistic and look like they could most definitely exist in our world.
    I miss Dreamworks 3D realistic artstyle here, it may not have aged that well, but it’s still really good.

    I remember watching this movie a lot back in the day and having a blast with it. Looking back on it, I consider it an improvement from the first film, with an engaging love story, great new characters joining the characters from before (my favorite of which being Puss in Poots), and especially how this movie doesn't take so many jabs at Disney like the first movie did. This is definitely my favorite film in the Shrek franchise.
    As for the next review, I honestly don't know what it'll be, but if it's an "emotional" movie, then let's make sure we've got our tissues ready.
    EDIT: Scratch that, I think I figured out what it is: "The Fox and the Hound".

    (Also for people who have seen Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) I wish DreamWorks put All Star by Smash Mouth in the movie, because the movie was supposed to be the last Puss in Boots movie and then have Puss go to Far Far Away and meet Shrek and the others but anyways, I'm happy with what I got from the film, I just wish they at least put All Star at the end or have Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers reprise their roles as Shrek and Donkey for the ending scene where they both meet Puss.

    Okay though, can we talk about the soundtrack in this movie and how lit it is!? I can't believe you didn't mention how great the performance of Jennifer Saunder's edition of Holding out for a Hero was! That scene alone is why this movie is my favorite out of the Shrek franchise and one of my favorite Dreamworks movies.

    To me, it's interesting how much of a legacy Shrek had at Dreamworks, it represented them as edgy, trending, and an exciting competior for Disney. After the 4 Shrek films were made, Dreamworks couldn't just let go of their beloved franchise so they made the Puss in Boots spinoff films and T.V show. After watching all 4 Shrek films, the first and 2nd are the best while the others weren't the worst movies but they lost all charm and comedy and everything that made Shrek stand out later.

    ❤️💖 Yeah, the Shrek 2 review finally arrived after all these years waiting for a review! Anyways, I always loved Shrek 2! One of my favorite animated films and one of the best animated sequels next to Toy Story 2 & 3, The Rescuers Down Under, Kung Fu Panda 2, How to Train Your Dragon etc. This is one of those rare animated sequels that is actually good or improved way better than the first movie.
    I remembered very good old nostaglic memories in my childhood when I first watched this movie in the movie theaters during 2004 and I was very lucky to see this movie in theaters and got this movie on VHS 📼 ans always watched it whenever I have free time to watch. Personality, I wished Shrek 2 was the series finale and it didn't needed a third or fourth film. I feel like the second film as a series finale in my honest opinion. 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️

    I can't decide whether I like the first or second "Shrek" the best. Although, bringing in Puss in Boots and showing Shrek, Fiona and Donkey dealing with their transformations might give it a slight edge. That, and the climax with the Fairy Godmother's rendition of 'Holding Out for a Hero.'
