For example the Belk near where I live has the EXCACT registers that the Belk a few miles away has, yet it only works at one of those Belks.
Even by the time, this video was released, we rarely used magnetic strip on cards in the shops. You either used NFC enabled cards + typing PIN if payment was above 500 CZK (~ 22 USD) or Apple Pay / other services (no PIN required) or old fashioned chip + entering PIN code everytime even if you paid few Czech Crowns :) I have actually never used magnetic strip in any European shop so far :) Funny fact is that my internet banking app (mBank CZ) by default disables magnetic strip on their cards
Well, the things you mentioned (if electronically) like membership card well will be allowed to be added. I believe they mentioned that pretty clearly in the announcement. But will not be released before optimised and released world wide.

Samsung has NFC technology and magnetic strips reader technology. Two in 1. Other smartphone supports only NFC.
I like it. Works well on my S6.
