    Arthur Lowe is possibly the best actor of all time.

    • @comedywriter8408
      @comedywriter8408 5 лет назад +14

      He was indeed an extremely talented actor. Comedy is one of the most challenging roles for an actor, he made it look simple because he had that comic genius.

      @RJSRdg 3 года назад +7

      Much as I like Arthur, I feel that's a little of an exaggeration. Yes, he was very good as Captain Mainwaring (and also as his brother), and he played drunk scenes very well. But, like most of the DA cast, he was pretty much playing himself. I certainly don't think he had the range of acting like Ronnie Barker (although as Arthur spent a lot of time in weekly rep, he may have done - but of course none of that was recorded). Of the DA cast, John Laurie was probably the most accomplished actor, although in a lot of his screen work you can see elements of Fraser.

      Without a doubt, The entire cast of this show is a good as it gets ,but you find it impossible to look anywhere else when Mr Lowe is on screen

      @@trigtrigger9794 In terms of acting range, I'd have to go with Ronnie B. Yes, Arthur did what he did very well, but he only really played two characters in his career - both different versions of himself.

    IF I had ever met Jimmy Perry and David Croft I would have shaken their hands off lol, It must have happened SO many time, they should have had knighthoods for all the years of joy they gave and for the way they represented the British Spirit through the war, I believe Englishmen would have fought for as long as it took IF the Germans had invaded.

      Britain lost to itself in the ' American ' Revolution. There was no separate ' America ', at that time. They were the thirteen colonies, economic, disunited rivals, unuited only in a single wish for independence. They were aided by some red indian tribes; opposd by others, who sided with Britain; and all the Empire Loyalists, as they became known, left what became the United States.
      When they started to fight themselves, in their Civil War, ironically, a great deal of their weaponry was supplied to them by the Armstrong factory, in the UK.
      Armstrong's house is truly beautiful, and is open to visitors. I've forgotten Its name.

      John King I read about that. I believe there is nothing wrong with being politically conservative, or politically progressive, as long as someone is not too much of a proponent of the extreme left or the extreme right of the political spectrum. I am non-partisan, and I like bits of both the conservative side and the progressive side. I am sure both Arthur Lowe, and Clive Dunn were friendly to each other, and enjoyed working together, maybe even socialized off work.
