I wonder if dogs have similar feelings and reactions to cats? When me and my mom went to go pick up her new dog, a chihuahua named Wally, my mom had me hold him on the drive home, I guess I might've squeezed Wally too hard while I was holding him because the next thing I know he actually bit me and ever since than, he's been nothing but mean to me, like, the whole thing with me accidentally squeezing him too hard was imprinted in his mind and now he hates me for it.
I was hospitalized for 6 weeks a couple of years ago. Someone came every day for my pets. They were all happy to see me except one cat, Maria. She gave me the cold shoulder for about a week before she forgave me. She's been with me since 7 weeks old. I'd never left for more than a few hours. She's sleeping on my pillow right now. I just can't move her. I'll see if she will share. 😂
