Your thumbnail brought me here and I've learned how to fill gaps with marzipan, something I never thought about before 👏🏼 Listening to your soft voice is so calming
Apricot jam/ jelly was used to hold the marzipan in place. You should be able to get hold of this from all large supermarkets. Or you can even make your own jelly. Check out our site for recipes. Hope that helps!
This is the finest video I have seen to date of applying marzipan to a cake, and the only one featuring blocking the marzipan. I have never seen lightweight plastic blockers before; the only one's I've seen were heavy varnished wooden blocks about three inches thick so they could be used as perpendicular-squares when blocking the sides. I'm going to make myself a pair of them. Thanks for sharing, Annabelle!
You can ice a sponge or chocolate cake but you'll need to roll the marzipan quite thin so it's not too heavy and crushes the cake. Or you could try cutting up the marzipan into small squares, dusting it with flour and mixing it into the batter. Let us know how you get on!
It is indeed. You can use add butter icing or frosting straight onto the cake or royal icing.with a layer of jam underneath. Let us know how you get on!
Is using marzipan easier than buttercream? I'm new to making cakes but the last cake I used buttercream, it melted and moved under the fondant which just wasn't nice at all :-(
I wonder how stiff the cake needs to be? If I use a regular sort of white cake or chocolate cake would that be too soft and crumble under the marzipan?
I have just finished my 24 ,26 ,28cm xmas cakes i've had on the go since 1st Sept. First time ever. The big brand marzipan, 400g for an 8" cake ? I barely touched it and it would crease and break. Luckily, i had 500g of Tiesko's finest cheap stuff on standby. Thanks for the hint about removing the paper completely. I had left it on - keep moisture and 4 feeds of brandy in it. 7 days until Xmas. I think, from what i know, marzi should harden a bit then i will have to decide whether i smooth the cakes with Royal (a bit too wedding methinks), or crest the top. Still the witching hour so i may as well try food colouring and make some decoration type holly and berries and such. Never have i done this type of thing before David Cameroooooon said he maid his own bread in Oct 2013..ish. A warning i read online, "Be careful. Before you make your first loaf of bread, be prepared to never be satisfied with anything but your own homemade fare." Now, age 2 score and four, i am making Christmas cakes. And loving it. As for touching face etc - it's a bloomin' demo cake - not for sale.
Marzipan is made with almond essence so it has quite a strong almond taste which can divide people depending on their love of nuts. It works best as a base between cake and a royal icing or to mould into shapes. Fondant has a more plain sweet taste that works well as a covering on a cake.
Hi! I am really keen into marzipaning my daughter's birthday cake> However, i have some questions. First, can i use a wooden rolling pin and a wooden working surface? second, with what can i replace the smoothers and the jelly to stick the marzipan to the cake?
You can definitely use this with a nice sponge cake, just make sure you're cake isn't too light and that your marzipan isn't too heavy as you don't want it to collapse!
Thank you very much, it is very interesting (The Marzipan Cake), But I should like to know what's the recipe of this cake? Is it made from much raisin? Or date? It's very appetizing and beautiful - and weighty. Reply me, please! Marianne
Just 1/2 to 1 teaspoon will be enough. It can be quite overpowering so don't go too crazy with it. Hope this helps. Let us know how your marzipan comes out!
Her voice is amazing... It almost masked how many times she touched her hair and face with her fingers and then dipped them back into a product you are going to pay for and eat....
I love Annabelle's voice, so soothing, takes away all the fear you might feel about working with marzipan.
OMG her voice and her accent, soooooooo beautiful and calming

How thick your stick/spacer are? What would be best?
So nice!!! 😊
Hi, to decorate a cake, is it necessary to do it without the marzipan and do only icing?
thanks
Is using marzipan easier than buttercream? I'm new to making cakes but the last cake I used buttercream, it melted and moved under the fondant which just wasn't nice at all :-(

I wonder how stiff the cake needs to be? If I use a regular sort of white cake or chocolate cake would that be too soft and crumble under the marzipan?
Just roll the marzipan thinner
Wow! A response 10 years after! It’s like a Time Machine. Thank you for your response! I will see if this works!

Yummy
Tesco not teisco
@@shazzasmart4539 That is a trademarked name and since i'm not too sure of fair usage policies, I used approximation.
I can tell this cake is hard, I like my cake with more sirup, can I use fonadant or martipan for cakes with sirup and creams?
Aren't all fruit cakes hard?
Great technique! Can I cover a red velvet cake iced with cream cheese with marzipan?
Thanks for sharing!
What exactly is the difference between marzipan and fondant and how do I know which one I need for my cake?
Marzipan is made with almond essence so it has quite a strong almond taste which can divide people depending on their love of nuts. It works best as a base between cake and a royal icing or to mould into shapes. Fondant has a more plain sweet taste that works well as a covering on a cake.
Amazing video! Thanks for sharing. Loved the presentation and the marzipan cover looks so feniced and beautiful :)
That was great thanks! Now I have a nice smooth Xmas cake ready for icing!
+wessexmatt Glad you like it! Make sure you check out our latest videos!

Is that store bought marzipan?
I did this the other day after seeing it on cake boss and it's actually really simple to do
Can it be use with any cake besides fruit cake

2 Houres lateur...still unwrapping the cake.
:)
Thank youuu :-)))
Before the common fondant, was the royal marzipan.
the marzipan is not the same fondant
Just thinking about how she’s touching it with her bare hands and breathing on it.
I want to go bald just so she can fold some marzipan on my head and pat it down.
Se fosse em português, seria melhor.
2021😂
I SPEE SPNISH¡¡¡ PLEASE.
Speak
recipe the marzipan
Please refrain from using aluminum in ALL your cooking and baking..
It wasn't touching the cake though? There was wax paper between?
+Ginger kubizc it's still bad for the environment.
Beautiful demonstration, but next time wear a hair net. Love the video!
These old comments are hella creepy ngl...
I don't like bare hands on my food
@9snaker Geez, get over yourself... All she did was push her hair behind her ear. Some cooks in restaurants do FAR worse.
Omg voice of a 10 year old lol
but i hate foil paper voice .... aakkkhhh
it's ugly...
Please please please...you touched your hair and face several times, and then worked with the marzipan. Not good ma'am 😢
