Yugi and Yusei are the only other protagonists with flared coat tails. Like maybe also Yuya, but you pretty much never see him actually where his jacket normally so it's hard to tell.
He's not depressed. He's more so become more reclusive and cynical. Not necessarily out of depression, but out of confusion and fear. He was depressed after losing to Edo in Season 2, but not here.
There's also Season 3, which he became the Supreme King, and was completely traumatized to the point where he couldn't use his Polymerization card without having a PTSD episode.
Stupid bastard, now I have to make a meme out of this. As for Jaden, he was sort of a soldier in my point of view: forced to duel for the fate of the world, only for his friends to invite themselves to the party in searching for Jesse. I get the whole friendship thing, but they didn't have to be total dickheads about the deaths. I know it sounds insensitive, but both sides must be taken into account. Maybe, just maybe if they had helped Jaden deal with the loss, he might have avoided becoming the Supreme King. As for Season 4, we see Jaden not being able to enjoy dueling due to the fact that it got his friends killed, and also because of the atrocities that happened during his time as the Supreme King. All in all, PTSD, a temporary fear of Polymerization, and a lack of joy when it came to dueling.

S4 is so creepy and i love it... cause that's kind of realistic as well - Darkness in us and Depression - It's also inspiring as well. - JADEN saved people as a true Hero, freeding us from Darkness and stuff -

Jadens redesign from season 1 to 4 is the only time in the anime that a protag had a shift like that. Jaden looks way more mature and badass in his season 4 design with sharper edges and the hair

(Yugi Muto, Yami Yugi, Judai/Jaden Yuki, Yusei Fudo, Yuma Tsukumo and Astral) as well as various key characters, he was also in charge of creating the Elemental Heroes and ultimately was in charge of supervising Yu-Gi-Oh GX.
5ds was pretty letdown for me. The series has powerful start but after dark signers arc, I dropped it because it was fairy tail all over and they made Yusei overpowered duelist. I have yet to watch Arc V. I am watching Zexal nowadays. So far so good.
saad mirza How was Yusei anymore overpowered than any of the other protagonists? I'd say he got the least amount of plot armor, because he strategies focused almost solely on card combinations, and didn't really use game breaker spells and traps like Yami, or score ridiculous card rips like Judai. I don't recall him using any anime exclusive cards like either of the two previous protagonists. The best Yusei ever really got in special powers are Savior Dragon (which Jack got too, and both of them lost by the end of the series), and Clear Mind/Accel Synchro. These really pale in comparison to the likes of some protagonists who just *create new cards* on the spot (Judai, Yuma, Yuya).
Donovan Larsen the point is in every game or sports anime, main character loses 2-3 times to learn something new and to get stronger but yusei gave middle finger to this tradition and uses friendship speeches very often. While yugi's undefeated legacy was understandable, yusei is not. He lost to jack only in flashback. If you're yusei's fan, i will tell you this: he half zero (from mmz) and half natsu.
saad mirza Just because he didn't lose, doesn't really make him overpowered. He would've lost his first duel against Dark Signer Kiryu if his D-Wheel didn't malfunction. From an emotional standpoint that pretty much counted as a loss to him.
I love how the GX Openings almost tell a story with their tone. First OP is upbeat and high energy. Our first time at Duel Academy. Then the energy drops in the second OP, and things start to mellow out. The third is somber, almost depressing. Literally titled TEARDROP. We've been hit with tragedy, and things aren't going so well. Finally, there's this OP, where everything has seemingly fallen apart. Our precious time, our glory days are behind us. BUT. We're gonna keep holding on.

Funny enough I found out that the reason season 3 drastically took a darker tone was because the creator thought that Judai's character couldn't grow if his personality stayed the same as the first season. I'm so happy he did this because personally love that Judai and he is my favorite Yugioh Protagonist :3 Also I feel that Johan and Judai's relationship wouldn't have been so strong had it not been for season 3's tonal shift.

All we know is that Alexis and Aster are in the current season of YuGIOh Arc V as well as Jack and Crow from 5Ds and Kite from Zexal. So it's cool they brought back characters from the previous generations.

In my honest opinion I feel as though GX was the peak of the yugioh franchise. I like the original but I feel as though GX just surpassed all my expectations.
smoshcool12 since the last seasons of GX throught *all* 5D's was it's peak imo (my favorites formats even)... then ZeXal happened (my most hated formats), ZeXal 2 was decent... and now with Arc V is kind of like a middle point since it's actually _amazing_ but not quite up there as 5D's or DM days though

I think this is my favorite GX opening. Judai is definitely a lot more serious and sometimes to the point of isolating himself from his friends. I'm really glad that by the time of the movie, he's back to the old cheerful self he once was, but he does retain some of his seriousness and maturity from the 4th season.

Season 1 Jaden was my favorite. He was a lovable loser with confidence and drive. Season 3 things just got wierd with Yubel being a whole man on love with him
Man, Judai changed so much this season, and it’s definitely for the better. In the last seasons he was always there to fix peoples problems and we see that Judai gets anxious when he isn’t helping, like when Johan is fighting that duel spirit catcher or whatever in the Dark Dimension. This season he’s just like “Go sort your own shit out, I’m busy brooding” and it’s just so cool to see this kind of character development.

Man, the ending to GX was sad, I personally believe out of all the yugioh characters his was the saddest and incomplete. Sure in Bonds Beyond Time we see Jaden doing okay and happy but we still technically don't know what he's doing with himself besides traveling the world, well I guess it fits his narrative a 'Traveling Hero'. But he never had proper closure, I believe if GX had gotten one more season to fully complete Jaden it would've been better, he never got the ending he deserved. It sucks that Jaden never got a proper ending in English as well, it ended even worse in the American dub because the last episode was too much of a cliffhanger. GX gets so much shit from western audiences and half of that comes from the fact it never got a proper English ending. Season 4 was incredible as it showed how far Jaden had come, he became a cold and dark person who didn't care to have fun dueling anymore and treated it extremely seriously. GX in general gets so much shit even though it's actually really good because how far every character in the show ended up going. Chazz was always a selfish asshole who cared too much about his blue jacket and powerful dragon cards till; after multiple defeats he cast that attitude aside and got cards that he at first considered weak but, found out he shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Crowler the teacher, hated Jaden and the lower ranking students and always tried to find new ways to kick him out but he actually ends up showing that he cares for his students and Jaden; he even goes far enough in season 4 to ask Jaden if he really thought leaving the academy without saying goodbye to his friends and not staying for graduation is a good idea. Cyrus started off extremely weak and seen as not good enough to even be the younger brother to Zane but, he ends up proving all that wrong and ends up actually legit promoting himself through only hard work to Oblesik Blue. Man GX was good, it just had such a slow start and season 2 honestly was too long, if season 2 was a lot shorter we may have gotten a season 5 to give an actual proper ending to Jaden.

I think the most interesting thing about GX is literally ALL of the antagonists become allies of Jaden at the end of the arc(Except the last one, of course). Its really telling of what they were trying to go for, villains with righteous purposes but misguided views who realize the error of their ways.
Only real vilain were Divine and that crash town guy and his bitch lol but they got disposed quickly... Dark Signers weren't evil and hell even his leader knew the wrong in his ways in the end, same goes for Aporia and finally Zone though, i guess the only YGO series with real villains are the first one - Zork or thief king Bakura - this one - Trueman and Darkness -, ZeXal - Don Thousand, Vector -
I also really liked that in Gx there was both a villain of light and a villain of darkness. Kept the theme going from the original yugioh that light isn't inheritantly good and darkness isn't inheritantly evil

I would disagree. Yuma's character development is very good, maybe even better since unlike everyone else he actually had to work his way up from a losing streak. Even if people strongly dislike zexal, I really don't care lmao.
Goku_Jerome i am astounded by the sheer idiocy of this comment. Episode one is just what it is, episode one. Its never the best and just serves to kickstart the series. Zexal is a series that gets a lot better as time goes on and more gets revealed but of course you wouldn't see any of this because you stopped at the first episode.
This opening is especially good when you've seen the series until this season. Because the clips and the song itself shows how much the characters have grown throughout the series, just has a much stronger affect. Definitely an extremely underrated show. Character development was really well done.
When you think about it Jaden’s story is actually really sad and something a lot of us can relate to. Jaden was a happy, energetic, funny, caring, nice, person season 3 was the start of it then in season 4 he looks so upset and guilty for everything that has happened. In this intro that part with Jaden and Yubel it looked like Jaden lost all hope he had in himself. It’s something I think a lot of us can relate to. He’s cheerful caring self turned cold confused and upset.. sounds like depression to me. I just feel so bad for Jaden, cause he is a great character in my opinion. It’s sad to see Jaden like this he’s a kind person, and when you see a guy like Jaden so upset and down upon himself you can’t help but be sad (at least for me I can’t) I’m just happy that Jaden managed though! 🙂🙂

@@TheMajestro1000 I'm 21 the youngest of all 4 of us and I grew up with GX, though I wasn't able to see much of it. 2 episodes very early in the morning and there was a really high chance of those 2 same episodes being re-broadcasted at least once if not for a couple of days before I would get the chance to watch the new ones that aired on my old past tv.
By the animation sequences you can see how much the staff liked working with this. And the song is so touching too. I wonder if they know their work moved so many people across seas and generations.
It helps a man in his 30's to still be involved in YGO, after 12 years, and reminds him how cool YGO is regardless of age..... sadly, not many people in the community see it this way though

+Godot I've never understood why so many people rank Season 4 as the best of GX. Like, there wasn't much wrong with it (Other than spending the previous 2 seasons establishing that darkness=good, only for darkness to be the bad guy in the end), but Season 3 just seemed to be way grander, and way more intense.
The only reason people call Jaden "immature" is because they haven't even watched all of GX. Unlike Yugi and Yusei Jaden was still growing up and he learned to mature. You could say we've seen Jaden matured the most out of the 3.
Yugi was more complex in a sense that throughout the series we see two distincts characters in Yugi and Atem being one. In one way we see Yugi as mature and strong(Atem), and naive and weak(Yugi) both of them learn to strenghen those points and learn from their mistake but it was really not shown and displayed as well as with Judai, one of the best development I’ve seen to date.
@@dylanf3108 Yeah, and it makes me sad, because his arc is so beautiful and relatable, because Judai himself is us in a way, his personality in season 1 represents us as children where we just thought everything was all fun and games and we can just sail through life without a care in the world, but afterwards, we grow up and responsibilities start to surface, and sometimes trauma can break us, but what matters is how we carry ourselves. Hell, after becoming a dark king, Judai couldn't activate Polymerization without having a PTSD episode.
Just finished this absolute banger of a series a little while ago. Now I've just found out about Takahashi's passing. Millions of people touched by his creation over multiple generations will be raising a glass to a man who taught us to always keep holding on to the precious time and the glory days with those we love before growing up and leaving academia. With 90% of the comments talking about how Jaden "had depression" this season, allow me to chime in with my experience. As someone who has struggled with depression in the past, I can honestly say that when I was at my worst, I felt the most like Jaden in season 2 after he lost to Aster (i.e., defeated/unenthusiastic/a constant feeling-of-worthlessness). But interestingly, I do see similarities between Jaden's behavior in season 4 and how I acted after I made my depression known to others and started getting treatment for it. Specifically I began caring a little bit more about my life, but nowhere near as much as I should have. However, much like Jaden this season, my status in that regard has improved with time and experiences.

Guys, don't even waste your time with a 4 kids dub of the 4th season, they cant do it without butchering it to oblivion. If we do get a dub it will only bring anger because of the dark themes present in season 4 that 4 kids cant bring due to their adolescent viewers that they usually cater to. Its the same with one piece 4kids got their right taken away due to the producers literally hating what they did to it.(ex taking all the blood and emotion out of it). please if you want a 4th season just watch it subbed its a better story and experience over all hell watch the entire series over and actually UNDERSTAND THE ORIGINAL PLOT that 4kids ripped out. (go watch the sub vs dub videos you will know what I mean)

4Kids doesn't exist any more. 4K is a separate entity functioning under Konami that has absorbed the rights to the series after 4Kids went bankrupt. Excessive censorship should no longer be an issue. That being the case, I say bring on a dubbed 4th season. Having the english character names makes a big difference.

He pretty much is supposed to be seen as the new king of games by the audience. He is yugis direct successor afterall, just that he is more of a background actor to the legacy of the world and not a widely known legend. It is kinda weird that later shows didn't do that because it is still called yugioh(Which literally means king of games in japanese btw. Even 4kids references it in the dubopening of season3 of OG yugioh with the line "Yugioh, the king of games" even tho they usually purge foreign stuff from their dubs.)

Definitely my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh OP, it just has such a wholesome but epic vibe to it. Its hard to explain but it feels like a really fitting last OP for a series, and I think it goes really well with how part of S4's plot is Jaden trying to rediscover his love for dueling and what it means to just have fun. As a whole I love GX. Genuinely the only Yu-Gi-Oh series as a 23 year old that I can still sit through and watch. I just love how it goes from a slice of life esque vibe where its all about having fun in S1 (I mean seriously even the villains in S1 are a joke, Amnael, Camula & Tania were the only Shadow Riders that were competent and a real threat, I mean Kagemaru literally just wanted to be young again lol) to by the time S4 rolls around, we've seen this school practically taken over by a cult and it's adult leader under the control of a deep space entity, seen it tranferred to a different dimension where Jaden develops severe depression after committing numerous inhumane acts as The Supreme King, seriously GX is one hell of a ride. Also can't forget the theory of how Darkness in S4 predicts the events of literally every Yu-Gi-Oh series following GX (theres a video someone made that goes over it, and it's honestly a pretty convincing theory)
Agreed. I think GX is the only series that gets better every season, and gives the main character a strong and complete character arc by the end. The side characters could've been treated better but they also were given closure to their arcs. That made GX the series that aged best for me. I can still watch it after graduating college and appreciate Jaden's character.

He's not depressed. He's more so become more reclusive and cynical. Not necessarily out of depression, but out of confusion and fear. He was depressed after losing to Edo in Season 2, but not here.
There's also Season 3, which he became the Supreme King, and was completely traumatized to the point where he couldn't use his Polymerization card without having a PTSD episode.
Stupid bastard, now I have to make a meme out of this. As for Jaden, he was sort of a soldier in my point of view: forced to duel for the fate of the world, only for his friends to invite themselves to the party in searching for Jesse. I get the whole friendship thing, but they didn't have to be total dickheads about the deaths. I know it sounds insensitive, but both sides must be taken into account. Maybe, just maybe if they had helped Jaden deal with the loss, he might have avoided becoming the Supreme King. As for Season 4, we see Jaden not being able to enjoy dueling due to the fact that it got his friends killed, and also because of the atrocities that happened during his time as the Supreme King. All in all, PTSD, a temporary fear of Polymerization, and a lack of joy when it came to dueling.

How was Yusei anymore overpowered than any of the other protagonists? I'd say he got the least amount of plot armor, because he strategies focused almost solely on card combinations, and didn't really use game breaker spells and traps like Yami, or score ridiculous card rips like Judai. I don't recall him using any anime exclusive cards like either of the two previous protagonists.
The best Yusei ever really got in special powers are Savior Dragon (which Jack got too, and both of them lost by the end of the series), and Clear Mind/Accel Synchro. These really pale in comparison to the likes of some protagonists who just *create new cards* on the spot (Judai, Yuma, Yuya).
Donovan Larsen the point is in every game or sports anime, main character loses 2-3 times to learn something new and to get stronger but yusei gave middle finger to this tradition and uses friendship speeches very often. While yugi's undefeated legacy was understandable, yusei is not. He lost to jack only in flashback.
If you're yusei's fan, i will tell you this: he half zero (from mmz) and half natsu.

He would've lost his first duel against Dark Signer Kiryu if his D-Wheel didn't malfunction. From an emotional standpoint that pretty much counted as a loss to him.
I love how the GX Openings almost tell a story with their tone. First OP is upbeat and high energy. Our first time at Duel Academy. Then the energy drops in the second OP, and things start to mellow out. The third is somber, almost depressing. Literally titled TEARDROP. We've been hit with tragedy, and things aren't going so well. Finally, there's this OP, where everything has seemingly fallen apart. Our precious time, our glory days are behind us. BUT. We're gonna keep holding on.

Funny enough I found out that the reason season 3 drastically took a darker tone was because the creator thought that Judai's character couldn't grow if his personality stayed the same as the first season. I'm so happy he did this because personally love that Judai and he is my favorite Yugioh Protagonist :3 Also I feel that Johan and Judai's relationship wouldn't have been so strong had it not been for season 3's tonal shift.

In my honest opinion I feel as though GX was the peak of the yugioh franchise.
I like the original but I feel as though GX just surpassed all my expectations.

I think this is my favorite GX opening. Judai is definitely a lot more serious and sometimes to the point of isolating himself from his friends. I'm really glad that by the time of the movie, he's back to the old cheerful self he once was, but he does retain some of his seriousness and maturity from the 4th season.

Man, Judai changed so much this season, and it’s definitely for the better. In the last seasons he was always there to fix peoples problems and we see that Judai gets anxious when he isn’t helping, like when Johan is fighting that duel spirit catcher or whatever in the Dark Dimension. This season he’s just like “Go sort your own shit out, I’m busy brooding” and it’s just so cool to see this kind of character development.
I don't think it was for the better, of course, he is not naive anymore butJaden at this point is depressed and doesn't enjoy dueling, that's why Yugi tries to bring joy back to him.
He was able to get his cheerfulness back in the end thanks to Yugi and Atem. At least he got some of it back.

Man, the ending to GX was sad, I personally believe out of all the yugioh characters his was the saddest and incomplete. Sure in Bonds Beyond Time we see Jaden doing okay and happy but we still technically don't know what he's doing with himself besides traveling the world, well I guess it fits his narrative a 'Traveling Hero'. But he never had proper closure, I believe if GX had gotten one more season to fully complete Jaden it would've been better, he never got the ending he deserved. It sucks that Jaden never got a proper ending in English as well, it ended even worse in the American dub because the last episode was too much of a cliffhanger. GX gets so much shit from western audiences and half of that comes from the fact it never got a proper English ending. Season 4 was incredible as it showed how far Jaden had come, he became a cold and dark person who didn't care to have fun dueling anymore and treated it extremely seriously. GX in general gets so much shit even though it's actually really good because how far every character in the show ended up going. Chazz was always a selfish asshole who cared too much about his blue jacket and powerful dragon cards till; after multiple defeats he cast that attitude aside and got cards that he at first considered weak but, found out he shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Crowler the teacher, hated Jaden and the lower ranking students and always tried to find new ways to kick him out but he actually ends up showing that he cares for his students and Jaden; he even goes far enough in season 4 to ask Jaden if he really thought leaving the academy without saying goodbye to his friends and not staying for graduation is a good idea. Cyrus started off extremely weak and seen as not good enough to even be the younger brother to Zane but, he ends up proving all that wrong and ends up actually legit promoting himself through only hard work to Oblesik Blue. Man GX was good, it just had such a slow start and season 2 honestly was too long, if season 2 was a lot shorter we may have gotten a season 5 to give an actual proper ending to Jaden.

I think the most interesting thing about GX is literally ALL of the antagonists become allies of Jaden at the end of the arc(Except the last one, of course). Its really telling of what they were trying to go for, villains with righteous purposes but misguided views who realize the error of their ways.

I also really liked that in Gx there was both a villain of light and a villain of darkness. Kept the theme going from the original yugioh that light isn't inheritantly good and darkness isn't inheritantly evil

This opening is especially good when you've seen the series until this season. Because the clips and the song itself shows how much the characters have grown throughout the series, just has a much stronger affect.
Definitely an extremely underrated show. Character development was really well done.
When you think about it Jaden’s story is actually really sad and something a lot of us can relate to. Jaden was a happy, energetic, funny, caring, nice, person season 3 was the start of it then in season 4 he looks so upset and guilty for everything that has happened. In this intro that part with Jaden and Yubel it looked like Jaden lost all hope he had in himself. It’s something I think a lot of us can relate to. He’s cheerful caring self turned cold confused and upset.. sounds like depression to me. I just feel so bad for Jaden, cause he is a great character in my opinion. It’s sad to see Jaden like this he’s a kind person, and when you see a guy like Jaden so upset and down upon himself you can’t help but be sad (at least for me I can’t) I’m just happy that Jaden managed though! 🙂🙂

@@TheMajestro1000 I'm 21 the youngest of all 4 of us and I grew up with GX, though I wasn't able to see much of it. 2 episodes very early in the morning and there was a really high chance of those 2 same episodes being re-broadcasted at least once if not for a couple of days before I would get the chance to watch the new ones that aired on my old past tv.
By the animation sequences you can see how much the staff liked working with this. And the song is so touching too. I wonder if they know their work moved so many people across seas and generations.
It helps a man in his 30's to still be involved in YGO, after 12 years, and reminds him how cool YGO is regardless of age..... sadly, not many people in the community see it this way though

The only reason people call Jaden "immature" is because they haven't even watched all of GX. Unlike Yugi and Yusei Jaden was still growing up and he learned to mature. You could say we've seen Jaden matured the most out of the 3.
Yep. Yugi and Yusei were kinda one note and static, whereas Judai was dynamic.
Yugi was more complex in a sense that throughout the series we see two distincts characters in Yugi and Atem being one. In one way we see Yugi as mature and strong(Atem), and naive and weak(Yugi) both of them learn to strenghen those points and learn from their mistake but it was really not shown and displayed as well as with Judai, one of the best development I’ve seen to date.

Judai actually gets character development yet gets shit on by others while those others love Yusei (Gary STu) and Yugi (who’s also cool).
@@dylanf3108 Yeah, and it makes me sad, because his arc is so beautiful and relatable, because Judai himself is us in a way, his personality in season 1 represents us as children where we just thought everything was all fun and games and we can just sail through life without a care in the world, but afterwards, we grow up and responsibilities start to surface, and sometimes trauma can break us, but what matters is how we carry ourselves. Hell, after becoming a dark king, Judai couldn't activate Polymerization without having a PTSD episode.
Just finished this absolute banger of a series a little while ago. Now I've just found out about Takahashi's passing. Millions of people touched by his creation over multiple generations will be raising a glass to a man who taught us to always keep holding on to the precious time and the glory days with those we love before growing up and leaving academia. Praise be to the King of Games! Praise be to Yu Gi Oh!

With 90% of the comments talking about how Jaden "had depression" this season, allow me to chime in with my experience. As someone who has struggled with depression in the past, I can honestly say that when I was at my worst, I felt the most like Jaden in season 2 after he lost to Aster (i.e., defeated/unenthusiastic/a constant feeling-of-worthlessness). But interestingly, I do see similarities between Jaden's behavior in season 4 and how I acted after I made my depression known to others and started getting treatment for it. Specifically I began caring a little bit more about my life, but nowhere near as much as I should have. However, much like Jaden this season, my status in that regard has improved with time and experiences.
Season 4 of GX is now on Crunchyroll for overseas fans...subbed obviously.

Guys, don't even waste your time with a 4 kids dub of the 4th season, they cant do it without butchering it to oblivion. If we do get a dub it will only bring anger because of the dark themes present in season 4 that 4 kids cant bring due to their adolescent viewers that they usually cater to. Its the same with one piece 4kids got their right taken away due to the producers literally hating what they did to it.(ex taking all the blood and emotion out of it).
please if you want a 4th season just watch it subbed its a better story and experience over all hell watch the entire series over and actually UNDERSTAND THE ORIGINAL PLOT that 4kids ripped out. (go watch the sub vs dub videos you will know what I mean)
@116663785544941990334 yeah, what they were going for the DARKNESS theme of the season in general is actually really interesting and even kind of deep not only as a "duelist" or the game point of view but surprisingly applies to LIFE as well (the darkness in our hearths may consume us all)... and they may somehow butcher the hell of that feeling if they try to dub it though

4Kids doesn't exist any more. 4K is a separate entity functioning under Konami that has absorbed the rights to the series after 4Kids went bankrupt. Excessive censorship should no longer be an issue.
That being the case, I say bring on a dubbed 4th season. Having the english character names makes a big difference.

He pretty much is supposed to be seen as the new king of games by the audience. He is yugis direct successor afterall, just that he is more of a background actor to the legacy of the world and not a widely known legend. It is kinda weird that later shows didn't do that because it is still called yugioh(Which literally means king of games in japanese btw. Even 4kids references it in the dubopening of season3 of OG yugioh with the line "Yugioh, the king of games" even tho they usually purge foreign stuff from their dubs.)
The song ends with the line "Keep holding on" because it is begging Jaden to not kill himself. Please done Jay, you have people who love you.

Definitely my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh OP, it just has such a wholesome but epic vibe to it. Its hard to explain but it feels like a really fitting last OP for a series, and I think it goes really well with how part of S4's plot is Jaden trying to rediscover his love for dueling and what it means to just have fun.
As a whole I love GX. Genuinely the only Yu-Gi-Oh series as a 23 year old that I can still sit through and watch. I just love how it goes from a slice of life esque vibe where its all about having fun in S1 (I mean seriously even the villains in S1 are a joke, Amnael, Camula & Tania were the only Shadow Riders that were competent and a real threat, I mean Kagemaru literally just wanted to be young again lol) to by the time S4 rolls around, we've seen this school practically taken over by a cult and it's adult leader under the control of a deep space entity, seen it tranferred to a different dimension where Jaden develops severe depression after committing numerous inhumane acts as The Supreme King, seriously GX is one hell of a ride. Also can't forget the theory of how Darkness in S4 predicts the events of literally every Yu-Gi-Oh series following GX (theres a video someone made that goes over it, and it's honestly a pretty convincing theory)
Agreed. I think GX is the only series that gets better every season, and gives the main character a strong and complete character arc by the end. The side characters could've been treated better but they also were given closure to their arcs. That made GX the series that aged best for me. I can still watch it after graduating college and appreciate Jaden's character.
