For some reason, when I heard "Get on the Deck!! Get on the Deck!!", I first it was just telling you to get prepared to duel. But I only now understood that the thing is also a pun because this opening has a thing for boats.
I like that Japanese openings usually have nothing to do with the anime, they're just songs that share the same vibes of the arc in question but are not directly talking about the plot

Ironically more people die in the 4kids version of GX than in the japanese because they never dubbed the episodes where half the dead cast come back to life LOL

Personally I feel that the openings make a story of their own it was Super hype and positive in this Opening then it becomes more softer in season 2 then the openings of season 3 is literally Called tear drop and is really sad and opening 4 feels like he is starting to pickup himself from his depression
For such a silly opening, some of the imagery is pretty damn good. In the scenes with Chronos and Jun although they are posed as a threat, Judai is positioned in a way where he's still very dominant in the scene, which reassures the viewer that despite the challenges he'll persevere. However, when faced against Cyber End Dragon, the monster is towering above Judai making him look very small, which foreshadows Judai's eventual loss to Kaiser and the fact that he still has a long way to improve as a duelist. In general I just think this OP does a very good job at characterizing Judai.

Season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh GX is a one of the biggest clickbaits ever because it makes you think it will be a happy-go-lucky funny shounen anime. Until season 2 comes and make it a serious show, and then season 3 fucked everything up and then season 4 where's Jaden is nihilistic depressed guy who doesn't enjoy anything in life even the moments that would make him have fun as hell 3 seasons back.

But I don't know, I just loved the positive energy and upbeat tempo. It's also catchy as heck even if you don't know Japanese.

so far from all 6 ygo series, this was my favorite one (although, i first watch this 2-3 years ago), the animation was dope AF, also hero was my favorite archetype.
@@SpecsTube There is no source material for every series after Duel Monsters, that's why they write the series as they go. The writing is just a few episodes further than the animating. That's why Fire Dragon is the opening and was supposed to be used at one point but they eventually just wrote it another way. Just like Crow was never meant to be a signer at the start and Aki was meant to make a trio friendship with Jack and Yusei. But then they somehow wrote him as an signer and made up a backstory he had with they guys. That's also why different seasons feel weird sometime, they don't have an overarching story in mind. They just make a season 1 and after their done and need to make 2 they brainstorm about ehat they can do can connect with the season 1 instead having the seasons together in their head so 1 leads better into 2.

So far, I’ve watched Duel Monsters and GX and I say the original is better. Much better duels, characters are more close knit, the music is more memorable, the story is much more focused, unlike GX, which seems to be villain-of-the-week vs hero-of-the-week for arbitrary reasons, Yugi/Atem is a much better protagonist than Judai, without Judai being too bad and Kaiba was a much better rival than all the rivals Judai had combined (Sho, Ryo, Daichi, Edo, Johan, etc). GX isn’t without its merits though: I think Asuka is a much better female lead than Anzu since she can actually duel and the voice actor for Dio (from JoJo) playing Saio was a legendary decision xD

I can't wait for episode 103 of Yugioh Arc V to come out. Asuka will finally be making her appearance in the Arc V series. She was my favorite character in GX and I'm excited on how she'll interact with Yuya and Yuzu as an alternate universe character. Not to mention her Cyber Angel cards will finally be released as official cards next month. I thought Konami would never do that now that it's been 8 years since GX ended.

Going from "Overlap" to this was such a trip. So many people hated it. The entire first season of GX was so unbelievably hated by all the hardcore YGO fans back in the day lol. It did get better, though!
Found out about that 10 years after I've seen it. Was so suprised at first. I watched Duel Monsters religiously and after that saw GX and loved it soooo much. Sadly people just hate change, so I get how from ancient mysterious Egyptian stuff to happy go lucky guy playing just for fun at a highschool setting would hit a bit wrong for some people. The thing is though, the main thing about Yu-Gi-Oh is the card game. Which means you can make the setting whatever you want as long as the lore for the original card stays the same in-universe. Funnily enough, GX tried so hard pleasing Duel Monsters fans at the start it isn't even funny. 50% of season 1 episodes is full of Duel Monsters references. Yugi's deck on display, fake Ra, Kaibamen, Duel Spirit day and a looot more.

I actually like the first series English opening better, but the Japanese soundtrack better. For this, I like this opening better than the 2nd one in Japanese so far, and the English one for GX is in the middle

Much better duels, characters are more close knit, the music is more memorable, the story is much more focused, unlike GX, which seems to be villain-of-the-week vs hero-of-the-week for arbitrary reasons, Yugi/Atem is a much better protagonist than Judai, without Judai being too bad and Kaiba was a much better rival than all the rivals Judai had combined (Sho, Ryo, Daichi, Edo, Johan, etc). GX isn’t without its merits though: I think Asuka is a much better female lead than Anzu since she can actually duel and the voice actor for Dio (from JoJo) playing Saio was a legendary decision xD

Usually 4Kids makes ridiculous themes but their version actually wasn't too far off.
Although I slightly prefer the English version this version is pretty pumping too. They both have that 2000s alt rock style which makes me nostalgic.

I can't wait for episode 103 of Yugioh Arc V to come out. Asuka will finally be making her appearance in the Arc V series. She was my favorite character in GX and I'm excited on how she'll interact with Yuya and Yuzu as an alternate universe character. Not to mention her Cyber Angel cards will finally be released as official cards next month. I thought Konami would never do that now that it's been 8 years since GX ended.
After the release of the legendary dragons I believe any anime card from any series has a chance. My question is why was Asuka your favorite?

Going from "Overlap" to this was such a trip. So many people hated it. The entire first season of GX was so unbelievably hated by all the hardcore YGO fans back in the day lol. It did get better, though!
Found out about that 10 years after I've seen it. Was so suprised at first. I watched Duel Monsters religiously and after that saw GX and loved it soooo much.
Sadly people just hate change, so I get how from ancient mysterious Egyptian stuff to happy go lucky guy playing just for fun at a highschool setting would hit a bit wrong for some people.
The thing is though, the main thing about Yu-Gi-Oh is the card game. Which means you can make the setting whatever you want as long as the lore for the original card stays the same in-universe.
Funnily enough, GX tried so hard pleasing Duel Monsters fans at the start it isn't even funny. 50% of season 1 episodes is full of Duel Monsters references. Yugi's deck on display, fake Ra, Kaibamen, Duel Spirit day and a looot more.

The Japanese openings are way better than the English in my opinion, especially with the first series of Yugioh.
I actually like the first series English opening better, but the Japanese soundtrack better. For this, I like this opening better than the 2nd one in Japanese so far, and the English one for GX is in the middle
