Literally every time they showed the kids in class they were doing something not even remotely related to playing card games. They had PE and Alchemy classes ffs.
@@RyanAtlus Ok this card game their school system is based around came from ancient Egyptian magic duels where they battled using monster spirits from another dimension including literal and false gods that just printing more than one copy of their image could led to worldwide disaster. Alchemy, which is basically magic made into science, is honestly not that unreasonable of an elective.
Jaden is just a dude who loved playing Duel Monsters, and everyone always trying to rope him into so much heavy bullshit, putting the weight of the world on his shoulders when all he wants to do is play. Its no wonder he went AWOL
Don't forget that his parents put him into shock therapy so that he can forget his traumatic experiences with Yubel as a child. But yeah, even then, he genuinely just wanted to enjoy yugioh. Couldn't help it that he had a transmuted dragon person as a forever bound protector in his deck, that saw everyone that dueled him as a bad guy, and who tried to harm them after.
@@augustinius6586 I think what could have worked is if Chazz and Jaden grew off each other. They had like five duels in the series and Jaden won all of them. Why not have Jaden win one, Chazz win one back and forth. Leading up to there final duel being a draw or something. And then you could have Zane be like Jaden's completely undefeated rival. Someone he battles several times and the closest he comes to winning is a draw. But this shows major progress for Jaden since the first few times he lost badly. For a show about students learning the game, they made him too good. I'm not saying they couldn't have him beat several students. But there came a point where it felt like he didn't need to be at the academy. Like he already knew everything he needed to know and was basically better than everyone including the teachers. If anything maybe GX should have eased up on the magic stuff and taken a bit more of a mundane approach. Maybe Zane tutors and sways him to beat Aster Phoenix who would be the antagonist of season 2. But not evil, just a pro player Jaden wins an opportunity to duel in a competition at the school. Maybe he competes against another character itching to fight him who has a history with Aster. YEAHHH Season 4 had some great stuff in it, especially with O'Brian. I really enjoyed his character there and the unique showing of trauma he had, really hit close to home
I laughed way harder than expected, the combination of upbeat lyrics about school life in combination with scenes of all the suffering and defeat in the show was hilarious

To me GX represents the loss of innocence. You won't stay a kid forever. You will have responsabilities one day, you will lose friends, that's just how the world works. But that doesn't mean you have to stop doing what you love the most, even if it's a silly children cards game :D.

The duel academy seems to be cursed, because anything could happen, for example: Crazy people with dark powers, evil and negative spirit of duels, a society that brainwashes people, people possessed by evil beings, kidnappings, deaths, missing students and etc
I know GX tends to get dark at times, but the duel between Axel and Trueman where Trueman spends the whole time telling Axel that he deserved to die for choosing which one of his parents' lives to save when a good son would've just accepted dying with both of them was EXCEPTIONALLY fucked up.
Some other scenes you could've included are: - Jaden's duel with Jinzo, especially near the end when the latter uses Call of the Haunted and comes back in the now possessed body of the guy he kidnapped; - Titan getting dragged down into the Shadow Realm two times; - Camula's flashback of her race being wiped out; - Aster discovering the dead body of his father; - Aster's dad and other people being absorbed by Destiny Hero Plasma, and his son having to put an end to his misery by killing him.

Every kid that watches the American dub and enjoys the series usually doesn't bother looking at the original source material 😂 With Yu-Gi-Oh OG it was the manga. Lazer tag against opponents with actual guns, roller coasters made of functional electric chairs, setting a convict in fire in a diner it was all grim af! Then you skip to GX and it just gets oh so much better! THANK YOU! HAHA I'm glad to deliver omg
Gx had some balls in s3 and 4 it was WILD
gENUINLY when everyone kept dying I was like wtf - but then Edo died and I was like ??YOU CANT DO THAT YOU CANT KILL EDO TOO WHAT
Too accurate
We still need season 4.
Chazz it up with the chazzes in the chazz yard.. chazzin trouble never chazzin too hard .. well back at chazz they never taught us this . Some things you gotta Chazz hit or miss
This makes too much sense. And people wonder why they never finished dubbing the series
Can you imagine Judais mini guitar riff theme playing in the background as he's laying in bed with depression refusing to get up
@Gloam-GhostExtras case in point: it makes too much sense.
putting supreme king in was 🔥
Of course of course how could I not leave out THE king of war crimes himself
4kids never should have gotten their hands on yugioh. Maybe then we could have gotten all of the shows dubbed and uncut
We wouldn’t have gotten the shadow realm then. I’m glad they did
0:26 old Cyrus lol. He was let off easy compared to the other intensities
I MEANNN He did also kind of see his brother in the wheel chair disintergate into dust sooo.. maybe??
@Gloam-GhostExtras damn lol Zane is tortured even after losing that power bond gamble 🎰
@@MrVariant Syrus’s struggles were pretty tame compared to the rest of the cast, but I think his struggles suited him better. Same with Alexis and Bastion, I don’t think we need every character to have intense arcs. I’m just glad they resolved his character instead of just writing him off in S4. DM and 5Ds protags didn’t always get this treatment.
@dragoknight6448 yeah lol at least old age didn't make him evil like FF3 Xande being "gifted" with mortality 🤣 when the others got cool stuff.
@ i know. Wierd right? I think the old age thing was supposed to represent exhaustion and burden from carrying his and his brothers dreams? Could’ve been done different, but he and chazz have similar fears of becoming pro.
no wonder jaden loses the fun in duelling
GENUINLY I do not blame him in the slightest
0:27 yup yugioh gx summed up in 1 image
Fucking hilarious. And people will tell you GX is more juvenile than the og series.
HAHA THANK YOU - I MEAN both hoenstly have their own ways of delving into absolute horror
Ah yeah. Let's all pretend this show is approximately 8x darker than it actually is
What are you even talking about? This is all happened in the anime and not even everything was put into this opening. Like Amon sacrificing his lover (who both do not come back to life) or Yubel sadistically mocking Amon before they kill him.
Oh wait Echo's death is shown. Well my point still stands. Also not showing Judai traumatic childhood. Or Ryo being depressed as a cripple. There's more lol
For the record, I never implied the show isn't dark. More so that the GX fans tend to believe the show is darker and deeper than it actually is. Yugioh's always had darker undertones but GX is among the more shallow (by comparison)
@@Sorran87You implied that this made the show look darker than it actually was. I pointed out that's not the case as none of this out of context. So yeah, you are wrong. Now we can have a debate if it is shallow if you like, but your original argument was wrong.
🤣🤣🤣
