This was one of the saddest arcs in the entire series, because you have Judai who spends half of it thinking he’s killed his friends and afraid to do it again. To see a fun-loving happy-go-lucky kid like Judai be filled with despair, anguish, guilt and desperation to find Johan, to the point his dark side completely took over and caused more misery and suffering as the Supreme King, that has to be one of the darkest moments I’ve seen of Yu-Gi-Oh so far (Starting on 5D’s, no spoilers please) and that’s after seeing Atem descend into madness trying to get Yugi back in Waking the Dragons arc.

Daltyn Stewart have to agree with you. I watched Gx season 3 4kids dub and rewatching it in japanese. The japanese version is much more emotional so far.

The clips shown originally where some of Jadens memories over the past 2 years and then its just showing memories of Jessie and everyone's smiles turn to serious looks by the second version. It would tell that person that something big and serious happened and they more then likely return to GX to see what happened that caused the mood to change.

And since, as far as viewers know, Johan's either completely lost to Yubel's control or dead. And when the camera zooms in while he turns around, he isn't smiling anymore. No more playing around!
Ive never heard a song match the tone of a season so well. All the dark purple and blue imagery really sells the negative emotion aspect of this season, I get filled with melancholy when I hear this. I was so caught off guard with this season and 4. Amazing watch
The subtle change in at the end of the openings in version one and two of this season is so well done. Judai smiling in version one, thinking about all the happy memories, and in version 2, its just blank, pain in his face.
When I saw the opening for the first time, I really liked it. In 2019 I recorded the complete song on my cell phone and listened to it throughout the year.
It's such a tragic season that I think retroactively makes the previous 2 seasons better, in a way, because it juxtaposes them and brings them around into a new light. Jaden never wanted to be the hero, to have the weight of the world put on his shoulders over and over again, he was just a kid who liked to duel. And when it all finally caught up to him, it ultimately broke him.
Edo, Kaiser, Jim, O’Brien. 4 guys tried to stop Judai in the same scene always gives me chills. Plus Edo and Kaiser partnership was amazing, I wish it could last longer, the dark heroes rolling in the dimension finding supreme king soldiers to fight
GX has always been my favorite season and this arc (it's climax) encompases the moment all emotions flourished in one go. The easy going boy having to go through terrible lenghts to later mature out of necessity. I think the change of pace that came because of this arc was brilliantly written and deserves more praise. Not just because Judai's travel but also for the rest of the students and school staff, who I think, were the best selection of cast choices for an arc of this emotional magnitude. Teardrop too, is the perfect opening (in both versions), for an arc as magnific as this one. Yes, I really love this arc it's obvious I guess.
when I watched it in 4kids, i really...REALLY HATED this Yugioh series...but after watching it in its original version (japanese), i can say...THIS IS THE BEST ARC OF ALL THE SERIES...very touching...loved it :( i want it back on TV :'(
Why am I crying ???? Why am I feeling so sad listening to this and I don’t even understand Japanese like that. This theme is the best and it brings back so many feelings
this is the most emotional opening, of course, talking about the version 2 of the season 3 .. like when things become more serious ... teardrop is my best soundtrack
Teardrop is excellent. Not often there is a somber and slower song for an anime opening and it hits all the right notes (literally). Some people like Precious Time Glory Times or 99%, but this right here? This is my GX theme of choice.
Atticus and Alexis are up there too, at least they would be if they were given the proper development (Atticus got some good stuff in the end but Alexis is kind of left by the wayside compared to the rest). Though, nothing compares to THE CHAZZ. #ChazzItUp
how do I still listen this after having this on repeat every day in middle school. I just graduated high school lol and this show will never be old to me
Michael Segal his cards didn't sell in real life. this is also why aki izayoi got demoted to extra in 5D's compared to crow, who is an ascended extra (his cards sold like hotcakes)
Jaden was one of the funniest Yugioh characters, but the evolution was very sad. He began to be more serious than characters like Yusei or Yugi. And he never said the last words to his best friends...
For me it is one of the YU-GI-OH anime that I liked the most. And the arc that was most epic and sad is Yubel's. But many people do not like the GX because they saw it in the 4KIDS version but if they see it in Japanese it is something else
Yup. maybe that song was made exactly thinking on judai and his sad situation. If undersatnd the lyrics and also has watched the whole original dub anime, maybe theres no way that yu could not realte bom with the music
Then again, he got triggered by his friends dying in his face. During the fight with that skeleton dude, his eyes turn golden, like the Supreme King's.
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved..... dd
Lol I think GX and 5D's are better than the original. The original breaks too many rules. People who prefer the original are most likely nostalgic whores.
Not really unpopular, gx was great great. The main complains i see is mostly that season 2 dragged too much and season 4 felt rushed but other than that its been awesome
This has been my comfort song to help me with the passing of Kazuki Takahashi. I know he had less and less to do with the series as time went on but from watching the 4K dub of Duel Monsters with my brother to, discovering the undubbed series of GX & 5D’s in which the characters felt like they were maturing with me: Yu-Gi-Oh! helped shape me, I looked up to Jaden/Judai, the card game helped me to make friends from first grade till my later years in high school and beyond, looking at the characters in this opening gives me a similar feeling to looking at old photos of my friends. Even though I’ve fallen off from watching the newer instalments passed ARC-V and I seldom play the card game anymore, I will forever be grateful to Takahashi-sensei.
Funny, I was actually having one of those "now that I'm remembering..." moments last night, and GX may as well have been THE DARKEST in the Yu-Gi-Oh series. *****For anyone who hasn't watched the whole show yet, SPOILERS AHEAD***** Firstly, Judai/Jaden is probably the only MC to go from complete Hero to complete Villain. Sure, he got better, but dude, you really can't go any lower than that, even dying would have been a better alternative to suddenly finding that you've become a tyrant who killed people (including your friends) for mere pleasure. And while one can argue that he was possessed, he definitely wasn't too possessed during the Brron incident. And let's not even get started on Ryo/Zane...My re-check of yesterday had to do with the fact that I suddenly realized that Ryo/Zane, for all his worth, never truly got a happy ending. Not to mention that Sho/Syrus never exactly got back to the "best of friends" level with Judai/Jaden either. Atticus probably got burnt the least, considering that out of the trio (it was him, Zane, and Yusuke), he's the only one that isn't in a wheel-chair or dead (he's plausibly traumatized though). Then there's Bastion/Daichi who decided to stay in the alternate dimension...permanently. And the list goes on. I know that this was supposed to be about the main character maturing, but that's one heck of a "growing up" story that happened there.
Legenda1rygamer I've both read the manga and watched the anime, and it's my favorite season. And yes, season 0 is dark. A dude or two get burned to a crisp in the first volume, however, by that point, it's kind of obvious what kind of story it is going to be. I'm honestly more surprised that no one else got killed after volume 1 (someone probably told the writer to tone it down a little). GX however, started out silly (for a lack of better word). It's about a class-clown/slacker with a strong sense of justice, who enrolls in a school of card dueling, and has the ability to make lots of friends who all trust him despite the fact that he might not be the best influence (for comedy), a typical shounen hero - how bad can it get? I mean, sure season 1 ended with a beloved teacher's death, but heck, he still comes back in the form of a spirit that the MC can see. Season 2 - Perfectly happy, everything-is-back to normal ending. Then season 3 comes along, sh*t the fan, and we're shown exactly what happens when you grab the said elements of a typical shounen hero and twist it just the right way so that those "comedic" flaws aren't very funny anymore (And of course, a good mind fu*k, to make things even worse). After that, no one recovers, at least, not completely. An episode with Asuka/Alexis even lampshades on the fact that Judai no longer smiles like he used to. Also, season 0 had all the bad stuff happen to only the villans. Other than villans getting brutally defeated in a way that would leave one either cheering or laughing their a*s off, the rest of the story is actually very lighthearted with themes of changing for the better, sticking up for yourself and others, and the overall power of friendship (especially in the anime). Nothing bad really happens to the main characters, except for when it's temporarily needed in order for there to be a reason for Yami to come out. Even Kaiba is left with a pretty big glimmer of hope. As for GX, sure, bad guys get skewered, but not as badly as in season 0, with the exception being season 3 where people die. As for the the MCs...the heck did the writers do to the them?!
I personally appreciate the dubopening because it symbolizes what we lose and what we would like to return to but can't, during the second half of this season. But this song is just perfection and definitly blows it out of the water. The best part isn't even used funnily enough. Taken from a sub of the lyrics: "I can't put it into words well And time keeps on heartlessly moving, but Your smile has always saved me" With the last line being the refrain also heared at 0:52 to 1:02. Only truly great songs manage to involve their refrains or background-chorus(if present) in such a meaningful way. Way more important to me than the junk about musictheory when it comes to the melody.
This intro makes me cry. The images predict what will happen with Judai and his friends :,,( And when he changes his personality by Yubel. I love this anime. Not only is it a card game ... :''(
Idk if anyone notices. But in the beginning Kiriboh is looking at Jaden/Judai with a worried and concerned face that he isn’t smiling anymore. The fucking details Yu-Gi-Oh puts in openings I swear I love it.
I have some friends here and there but never had a nice group like these guys who have true hearts and supported each other no matter what and cared for each other. This song coupled with the vibes from this season are truly saddening and make you realize life’s not always easy but that you’ll make it through with the ones you love when the calamity is over
GameFormers seeing how 4kids kept that same theme for all 3 seasons they dubbed, yes this song is much better and fits the theme of the season more. This season felt depressing and sad as Jaden/Judai had to deal with the fact that he killed his friends.

Not just because Judai's travel but also for the rest of the students and school staff, who I think, were the best selection of cast choices for an arc of this emotional magnitude. Teardrop too, is the perfect opening (in both versions), for an arc as magnific as this one.
Yes, I really love this arc it's obvious I guess.
when I watched it in 4kids, i really...REALLY HATED this Yugioh series...but after watching it in its original version (japanese), i can say...THIS IS THE BEST ARC OF ALL THE SERIES...very touching...loved it :( i want it back on TV :'(
baka -_-
The same here
In version 1 at the end of the song judai was smiling and in this version his smile is gone omg 😭. Tbh I love those subtle changes!
Stuff like that is why I never skip the openings
Why am I crying ???? Why am I feeling so sad listening to this and I don’t even understand Japanese like that. This theme is the best and it brings back so many feelings
My favorite part of this arc is when zane and Aster come to help jaden, i still get chills watching that episode
The opening and song describe the sadness of the arc... At least, there was a fourth one which wasn't as sad as this one.
that guy with Blue hair is going to appear in this Arc? please no spoiler , just yes or no
Ya,he is a very important character in this arc
Fourth season is just the fallout of third season. Not spoiling anymore than that
@@zenhaa You mean Zane? Sure, he does.
@@PokeLexgnzlz Woa u replied afet one year hahah, but no I was talking about Jesse xD
I cry every time I hear this song
me too
me too :C
this song kinda has a sad feeling that our childhoods are gone forever.
U AND ME BOTH MY FRIEND !!
this is the most emotional opening, of course, talking about the version 2 of the season 3 .. like when things become more serious ... teardrop is my best soundtrack
Rest In Peace to Kazuki Takahashi thank you for everything.

Awesome song and great lyrics that speaks to me. This when season 3 got really dark and cool.
These gx openings feel far more nostalgic than any other yugioh opening.
I'm still crying ... I'm so glad that I watched the japonesse version. So much feelings. .. 😫
Teardrop is excellent. Not often there is a somber and slower song for an anime opening and it hits all the right notes (literally). Some people like Precious Time Glory Times or 99%, but this right here? This is my GX theme of choice.
Goodbye Kazuki and thank you for all you have done for us rest in peace king.
O'brien, Jim and Johan are the best side characters in the show. Like, the crew from the first two seasons don't even compare.
Agreed. Really elevated the series. But I have to give a shout out to my man, Edo. He belongs in this group too
Atticus and Alexis are up there too, at least they would be if they were given the proper development (Atticus got some good stuff in the end but Alexis is kind of left by the wayside compared to the rest).
Though, nothing compares to THE CHAZZ. #ChazzItUp
Agreed but Ed Phoenix and Hell Kaiser Ryou are great too.
Well.. Chazz is one of the best characters in the show. He's up there too even tho he was pretty much tossed aside this season
You gotta acknowledge the glory that is the chazz for being the best in the og group
Johan was my favorite out of all of them I love this show it ended back in 2008 omg Years fly by so fast
zane
YOU DID NOT SAY CHUMLEY
how do I still listen this after having this on repeat every day in middle school. I just graduated high school lol and this show will never be old to me
I'm sure at least some ppl were hyped to see Misawa make a return for Season 3.
and then gets canned near the end of it... Gx writers really dropped the ball on that.
+Yutaka5000 He was my favorite character I never understood why they wrote him out. Did the Japanese voice actor quit the show?
Michael Segal his cards didn't sell in real life. this is also why aki izayoi got demoted to extra in 5D's compared to crow, who is an ascended extra (his cards sold like hotcakes)
+227someguy Not really, plant synchro was pretty popular back in the 5d era...
Matt Shen i did say compared to crow
Jaden was one of the funniest Yugioh characters, but the evolution was very sad. He began to be more serious than characters like Yusei or Yugi. And he never said the last words to his best friends...
there is a 4th season of gx, but its only in japanese. I think they never dubbed it to english because it was too dark/evil for kids
@@crismc_dog3957 i have no idea what happened
For me it is one of the YU-GI-OH anime that I liked the most. And the arc that was most epic and sad is Yubel's. But many people do not like the GX because they saw it in the 4KIDS version but if they see it in Japanese it is something else
Rest in peace, Kazuki Takahashi
After all this years, I still love that song.
And don't forget the feelings ;w;
Still the best arc in Yu-Gi-Oh
Yugioh 5ds last arc is the best no cap
@@Yusei797 The best few arcs (other than the first season) to the last arc was zexals was 5ds then Gx
This song brings me back those old memories in it..
This season may be dark and all, but this is what makes it my favorite season in GX.
This is my favorite yu gi oh series.

Translation: If you want to, you can start to cry right now
If you've watched the anime, you'll understand it.
The music says "You can tell me what makes your heart pains" showing Jaden and Jesse
And later: "I'll be there for you forever" showing them again
Yup. maybe that song was made exactly thinking on judai and his sad situation.
If undersatnd the lyrics and also has watched the whole original dub anime, maybe theres no way that yu could not realte bom with the music
the arc where judai fucked up everyone because of his obsession to find Johan
saad mirza yea
It was because of his obsession to help everyone. Not particularly johan
Then again, he got triggered by his friends dying in his face. During the fight with that skeleton dude, his eyes turn golden, like the Supreme King's.
its not his fault he loves johan so much :c
i ship it though i always shipped it
I think he was obsessed with saving Johan because of the fact that he felt that was his fault that Yubel did that to him.
:( ...

Am I the only one who thought GX was better than original Yu-gi-oh?
No, you're not.
Just be careful. some people consider that the talk of a traitor
Nope.
Gingivitic Cinema Haha, :') GX it is the best forever
Lol I think GX and 5D's are better than the original. The original breaks too many rules. People who prefer the original are most likely nostalgic whores.
Nowadays when I hear this I also get tear drops. Because GX is so old already and I got fucking old too I just realized.
GX was the best season for me
I don’t care what anyone says this is in the top 10 of Yu-Gi-Oh openings
This is one of the greatest and saddest Yugioh arc in gx
Unpopular opinion. GX was a great show. I especially loved how it was on season 3 because of how dark it got.
Not really unpopular, gx was great great. The main complains i see is mostly that season 2 dragged too much and season 4 felt rushed but other than that its been awesome
Season 3-4 were depressing af and we all love them for that
Curiosity: 1:19 .. in the version 1 he smiles a bit but here is more sad or serious
Even though I’ve fallen off from watching the newer instalments passed ARC-V and I seldom play the card game anymore,
I will forever be grateful to Takahashi-sensei.
Funny, I was actually having one of those "now that I'm remembering..." moments last night, and GX may as well have been THE DARKEST in the Yu-Gi-Oh series.
*****For anyone who hasn't watched the whole show yet, SPOILERS AHEAD*****
Firstly, Judai/Jaden is probably the only MC to go from complete Hero to complete Villain.
Emy XD have you watched season 0?
As for the the MCs...the heck did the writers do to the them?!
yeahh

By the end I coundn´t tell if he was fighting for Johan or if just realized all he lost to get there so he had no choice.
R.I.P air neos. Got removed from the card that references this theme
I personally appreciate the dubopening because it symbolizes what we lose and what we would like to return to but can't, during the second half of this season. But this song is just perfection and definitly blows it out of the water. The best part isn't even used funnily enough. Taken from a sub of the lyrics:
"I can't put it into words well
And time keeps on heartlessly moving, but
Your smile has always saved me"
With the last line being the refrain also heared at 0:52 to 1:02. Only truly great songs manage to involve their refrains or background-chorus(if present) in such a meaningful way. Way more important to me than the junk about musictheory when it comes to the melody.

Idk if anyone notices. But in the beginning Kiriboh is looking at Jaden/Judai with a worried and concerned face that he isn’t smiling anymore. The fucking details Yu-Gi-Oh puts in openings I swear I love it.
Rest in peace, Legend
I have some friends here and there but never had a nice group like these guys who have true hearts and supported each other no matter what and cared for each other. This song coupled with the vibes from this season are truly saddening and make you realize life’s not always easy but that you’ll make it through with the ones you love when the calamity is over
Imagine this opening with the fourth ending of Duel Monsters... Perfect combination for sadness.
Rip Kazuki Takahashi Thank You for making my childhood awesome
So much better than "GET YOUR GAME ON!"
GameFormers seeing how 4kids kept that same theme for all 3 seasons they dubbed, yes this song is much better and fits the theme of the season more. This season felt depressing and sad as Jaden/Judai had to deal with the fact that he killed his friends.
Ecotro I like get your game on, but I see your point.
+GameFormers There just as good. This is really the only Good jpn opening to me.

I love the Season 4 Opening.
What a loaded cast. Band of badasses!
Indeed. Jesse, Zane, Astro, Jim, Axel, Adrian, Yubel. S tier duelists that are on pair with the protagonist. Just the best season overall.
I love this season, I love this song, and I loved this show. GX forever
+panslash98 Este comentario pareciera escrito por mí. No pudiste haberlo dicho mejor!
I was only 7 years old watching this, this brings back a lot of memories back I'm 2007 now I'm 18
