- When broccoli sprouts are two to three days old, they should be stored in the refrigerator to slow their growth and to prevent the growth of any bacteria that might be on the young plants. Large batches of sprouts can be frozen and stored for up to one month for the best quality. In this clip, Dr. Jed Fahey describes the best way to store broccoli sprouts.

For how may hour we should freeze sprouts and should I eat sprout immediately after taking sprout out from the freezer? Or i should steam after taking out from freezer and heat it to kill bacteria? Please reply back and also for how long i can keep it in freezer or i should use vegetable section of refrigerator instead of keeping sprout in freezer for 5 days continuously?
I've found I can keep broccoli sprouts fresh and crisp in the refrigerator for over a week using this method. Lay the broccoli sprouts out on a papertowel lined cookie sheet before storage for a couple hours this removes the moisture that causes decay. Then lining a FreshWorks Produce Saver with a couple paper towels changing the paper towel every couple days if they get moist from the humidity inside the fridge.
I buy organic broccoli sprouts from my buddy the Sprout Vendor at the farmers market (he grows in trays with rich soil, just sprays with water till harvest) I get about apx. 1-1/2 lbs for $30. Then at home I take sandwich bags weight about 1.2 ounces then roll the bag tightly, seal, place into a gallon freezer bag, continue till all bagged then put in the freezer. How I consume is in a smoothie so I just grab a bag, open and push frozen sprouts into blender jar and add my other smoothie goodies then blend... that's it !
What about dehydrating the sprouts in a food dehydrator?
What about dehydrating them?
I wash them, put them in a freezer bag and then I take the bag out the next day, put the bag on the floor and break them up with my garlic masher.
Do you do anything else for thawing them? Freezing works well if you want to put them in smoothies, but I don't plan to consume them that way.
Please mention broccoli microgreens once in a while. They're a week older than sprouts.
Never knew the diffrence, thanks
can you refrigerate the finished sulforaphane for later consumption ?
This lady is so serious!
I just was them spin them in the veg dryer which removes some of the water , I then freeze in freezer bags straight away and add to smoothies after a couple of days. Am I getting the sulforaphane still? Thanks
I heard freezing them increases sulphurophane. True?
I soak my sprouts in 158 degrees water for ten minutes which is supposed to increase sulforaphane content. I then blend them with a bit of water and freeze them in icecube trays. Do you think that this is a good manner in which to preserve them? Am I losing any nutritional content in this process?
I am planning to do the same thing. Do you feel anything with doing it that way?
I thought people stopped heating them and just went to freezing
Where did you get this info about heating the sprouts from, and if you did it for a while how did it work? Thanks!
Heating the sprouts completely deactivates the enzyme myrosinase. The antioxidant Glucoraphanin will not transform to Sulforaphane without myrosinase. You are totally wasting your time and money and certainly not reaping the wonderful many benefits of Sulforaphane by heating the broccoli sprouts.

I’m unfortunately one of those people who cannot tolerate any sprouts. I’ve gotten bacteria infections😫
Can you cook them?! Have you figured out why it’s happening?
Slap yourself
Thank you 😊
can you buy frozen broccoli sprouts in a supermarket?
What about freezedrying?
If we harvest them, lay them out on pans, put them in the deep freeze, and then move them to the freezedryer for processing. Will the sulforaphane survive and still be effective after rehydration or freeze-dried consumption?
I wonder if fz dried good too.
I froze my broccoli sprouts in zip lock bags the day of harvest and after 2 weeks they have gone brown, why? Please any advice
So, to refrigerate, he’s saying to keep them in water??? Am I an idiot? I can’t tell if that’s what he’s saying.
No - he just rambles on and says nothing useful
Can they dehydrated?
Wtf is this guy saying
what kind of language this dude was speaking? 🙊
