  • A growing body of evidence suggests that sulforaphane's protective effects extend to the brain. Glutathione, a potent endogenous antioxidant compound, is a likely mediator of these effects. Data from preclinical models of glutathione deficiency, supported by magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies, show increased glutathione levels in the brains of people who receive sulforaphane. In this clip, Dr. Jed Fahey discusses how sulforaphane promotes glutathione production in the brain, even with long-term consumption.

      Now that the FDA has banned n-acetylcysteine as an over-the-counter supplement despite it being on the market for decades without serious adverse reactions and numerous benefits, this information has suddenly become very important.
      Please consider doing another talk with Medcram on alternatives to NAC. Getting food high in l-cysteine and broccoli 🥦 etc...

    Do glutathione capsules help increase glutathione in the brain?

  • @chrinarai
    @chrinarai 4 года назад +1

    But is the increase in glutathione a result of the hormetic mechanism of sulphoraphane? Ie it itself is slightly damaging hence there in an upregulation of glutathione production? If yes, how does this apply to people with chronic illnesses - are they still able to benefit from such effects or are they detrimental in an already highly inflammatory environment (eg CFS)

      The increase in glutathione is a result of NRF2 stimulation by sulforaphane. Sulforaphane stimulates NRF2, which in turn stimulates glutathione release.

      Jaime Bohl hello Dr. Rhonda would probably suggest growing your own broccoli sprouts in a jar it’s very simple I do it but if you’re looking for a product that she would recommend one vitamin brand sticks out above all others it’s called Thorne Crucera-SGS Broccoli seed extract

      @@michealklee8844 Thank you for the suggestion, I will give it a try. I have seen her talking about growing your own, but I doubt I have the patience or consistency to do it properly.
