Great vid. Just a heads up for anyone in EU doing this - the topmost screw on the PSU wasn't actually a screw on mine as it is in the video. It looks like a black plastic hex screw but it can be ignored and lifted as in the video without addressing it. Mentioning this as I thought I had stripped the plastic head and was unable to continue.
Thanks! Haha i was in panic when i saw that i have only one screw. And the other two are those plastic shits. So i can ignore them and just lift it up? K get it :D haha
OMG thank you! Never really wanted to take the bottom of the ps off but after doing so saw a massive heap in dust gave it a good clean and then took the power supply out gave that a clean and wow after all the steps my ps is finely silent genuinely can't hear it, thank you thank you thank you so much really appreciate it my dude
Dude! Thank you so much for showing us how to get to the damn heatsink without messing around with the friggin motherboard lol. Everybody else wants to show you the thermal paste and such, i just want to clean the heatsink lol. Your awesome Man

@@shifty2755 the route that most videos make you take maybe, but i don't happen to have paste on hand and I'd rather not f*** with some the chips, motherboard, or other touchy parts that "must be placed back perfectly" when i got a newer ps4 pro that uses better/more of the thermal paste. This really helped a lot, man. Thank you! Had my console since 2016, and it sounded like an aircraft was taking off when I played most games! Watching your video and following your steps produced great results! Cheers..!
Thank you so much! I can't wait to do this with my PS4 pro. You are a fantastic teacher and can explain the steps in such a detailed manner. I don't know why it's so hard for others to teach like you do but I'm a person that likes to know what/ why I'm doing something. I also need to know every detail broken down because it throws me off when a step is sped through or it's not covered as extensively. I will update once I clean my system!
Thanks for the video it helped out a lot. One thing I did along with blowing the fan and fins out, I dipped q-tips in isopropyl alcohol and cleaned the fan and cooling spaces to get things extra clean.
First cleaning of the PS4 Pro since buying it in 2017. Thank you for this easy video. I would have removed too many screws or pulled too hard on that power supply connector.
It is so quiet around here now since I did this cleanup for my 2,5 year old PS4 Pro. It cost me 1,90€ to buy the correct tool, only problem for me was the lack of brute force since my PS4 Pro had never been opened. But it was definitely worth the effort, bye bye "jet engine"! And thank you for making this video!
When i looked up on how to clean the Heatsink, i saw many videos about completely disassembling the console, i'm happy that this is another way to get to it. I have cleaned the fan (which had a light layer of dust) the Heatsink (was full of it, i blew in it with air and everything came out through the fan) and the Power Supply (was completely in dust too. Thank you for this video! I kind of wished there was a way to remove the cable of the power supply, and to open itself to do more specific cleaning.
thank you massively - clearly the best, most eloquent guide on You Tube - reached here after watching a few misguiding ones - now i need to get on with it --- 5 stars
Great video. Easy peasy. Just follow what he says. I used a torx T8, it's all lowes had. But these screws are hand tightened, so no need to crank down on them.
Thanks man that was the most concise and informative video I've seen on this subject. Had a little pry taking the lid off and cleaned out everything I could see, still sounds loud as hell so I'm waiting for the new screwdriver set to come and I'll get the heat sink cleaned out. Wicked, thanks!
This guide was perfect. I ordered both the torques bits and compressed air and cleaned my PS4 Pro out in about 15 minutes. She's borderline silent now. Thanks for telling us exactly what we needed to know :)
I removed the top plate today, then all the cells and the fan blew with air I have a very good and powerful compressor and it wasent necessary to remove everything, ugly lumps of dust flew, I did it for the first time in 4 years. Because the last few months have been like I've been playing like a jambo jet😂 Now it's great again💪
Just seen this.... so glad there's a way to clean it without sending it to a shop or fully stripping it.... every other video shows taking out the hard drive in which I really don't wanna do cos I don't wanna risk my files and have no pc to sort it back out.. how come it's jot needed to be taken out... can any damage come to it this way.... great vid btw really helpfull. Will try this when the tool bits come.
just cleaned mine today. it's amazing how quite it is now. I thought maybe not rather much cause didn't see much on the fan. but the dust over the heat grate behind the fan. that was the king. and use a paint brush not a toothbrush.
My top screw can't come out. It's one of those black screws with the round hole in the middle, and the center is flat, I can't find anything to fit and remove it, what do I do? HELP PLEASE!!!!!
Have you a guide on removing the ps4 pro fan without removing the hard drive... it's still like a jet.. so thinking getting actually to the fan or a replacement fan.
Excellent video! Thanks for taking time to make and share it. I had one issue. I was not able to remove the 5 screws to lift up the plastic because the screw in the middle would not come out! Anyone else have this issue?
The side where it says SONY isn't popping open like the other side. Feels like I'm gonna break it lol should I just go hulk mode and pull until it pops?
Would you recommend a deeper clean (cleaning the heat sink/fins) to someone who has never cleaned their PS4 before? I can tell mine is filthy just from looking at the sides of it and am for sure going to clean the fan and take the top part off but I'm not sure if I should go through the hassle of unscrewing the bottom and getting to the fins if it isn't super necessary.
Just go for it. I cleaned my fan and for curiositys' sake opened it up the rest of the way too and it's a good thing I did. It was filthy. I blew literal dust bunnies out of it, at least 2. The power supply had a ton of build up on it as well so don't forget to blow it out too.
I've watched 10 ps4 pro cleaning videos and they all the something about the top but for the love of god I can't pop the shit open my fingers are literally bleeding from trying so please someone tell what I'm doing wrong
For cleaning the heatsink why you need to open the harddrive cover and those thing what will happend if we open only the front part and clean the heatsink plz any body can tell me plz 🙏🙏
Hey! I removed the warranty stickers to access the screws but I can only find a screw under the middle sticker. Under the other two there is just plastic with a little "flick". On of the flicks just broke when I tried too pull it. I dont get why there are no screws.
@@Easelgames Apparently all I had to do was to open it normally, only had to unscrew that single screw. Unfortunately once inside, one of the screws just broke when trying to unscrew, the screwdriver just peeled the screw instead of unscrewing so I can't completely open it.
The 3 security torx screws that r covered by the black stickers, why doesn’t my ps4 pro have the screw that’s closest to the hard drive? Just has the tab to snap out.
Actually after peeling off the 2 stickers, there’s only one screw, the middle one, and another tab by the power supply connection. Sony is ripping me off. Lol.
I cleaned the fan on my ps4 pro yesterday. It's been so loud for months when I'm playing games. Made no difference. Will I need to take the whole thing apart and give it a good clean.
Sarah Brodie you will probably have to check and maybe replace the Thermal Paste, there are plenty of videos that show you to to get there, so yes you will have to take most of it apart

I’m trying to pull the back off and pulling the side tabs as you said but it will not lift 🥲

Same the Sony clip is to hard
Ok mine is cleaned weekley and it still overheats on certain games (MW) and is very loud on games such as MW and Ghost Of Tshushima. Any tips?
In settings turn off HDR, and change resolution from auto to 720p. Then check if it helps)))
